Nominations Are Open for the August Books of the Month

Post your nominations here for the August group reads. A significant portion of the book must be set in the featured location. We will be reading books set in Lesotho and the Northwest Territories in Canada. We will also be featuring translated fiction authored by women. Here are lists to get you started:

Translated Fiction by Women:
Nominate translated books of any genre of fiction that are written by women. Note: Book must be originally written in a language other than English. Many foreign authors write books in English - these would not qualify.


Books do not need to be present on these lists to be nominated. Authors, please do not nominate your own books.

*For our featured world country selection (this month it is Lesotho): If the book selected by popular vote is not written by a native or resident author, the book written by a native author with the highest votes will also be selected, resulting in two book selections for that country.

I will nominate Singing Away the Hunger: The Autobiography of an African Woman for Lesotho.

For translated fiction by a woman I nominate The Time in Between by María Dueñas, an earlier edition was called The Seamstress. This is a very engaging novel set in Morocco, Spain and Portugal and involving espionage during WW2, a real page turner.
