LN, I had an idea for this round that I wanted to run past everyone, but feel free, of course, to shoot it down. :)

The new Amazon review policy has been a blow to all of us authors. I used to leave reviews at Amazon.com, Amazon.co.uk, Amazon.ca, and Amazon.com.au. But we're not allowed to do that anymore.

To make up for that a bit, what if I offered to leave reviews at Smashwords, Kobo, Barnes & Noble, and iTunes? (That last is a maybe, since I don't have a Mac). All the author would have to do is send me the links if they like the review I post for the round.

We could keep it completely voluntary. Hopefully, others would join in, but it wouldn't be a requirement of the round.

What do you think? Good idea, or not so much? :)

Cathleen, if the author agrees to have the review posted elsewhere then I can't see a problem. But usually, Amazon and Goodreads suffice, even if it's only to.your home store.

Absolutely--goodreads and Amazon suffice for the round.

I was just hoping that I could get some others in the round to volunteer to review other sites as well. I don't know about any of you, but I don't have a single review on Kobo. And even on Smashwords and B&N, where I do have a few, it's a lot less than on Amazon. I figured other people here might be in the same boat. :)

I think you can still leave a review on Amazon.com if your account is in good standing in any Amazon store, that is, you have purchased items on Amazon to the tune of $50.

Has anyone actually tried to post a review on Amazon.com without success?
The Amazon.com review is the one that really counts, we shouldn't leave that out, but Cathleen's suggestion is cool too.

I left my review on Amazon.com like normal, but when I tried Amazon UK it wouldn't let me. So I will be glad to post on other sites. Smashwords lets me. I've tried on B&N but have to set-up an account and all that.

Yeah, I can post to Amazon.com, no problem (just in case anyone getting reviews from me is worried). :) It's just that they won't let me leave reviews for Canada, the UK, or Australia anymore.

From a very little preliminary research, Apple seems to be out of the running, both because it's hard to deal with their site without a Mac and because they only want customer reviews.

Kobo said our reviews were fine when I asked them in chat. Haven't done it yet, but that's provisionally promising.

I know another gal left a review for me on Barnes & Noble, and I'm pretty sure she got the book on Amazon. I haven't tried to leave a review there yet, so I'll let you all know how it goes when I do.

Smashwords is easy-peasy. No hassles there. Just enter the title and author into the search box. :)

And I emailed you all my links, Eunice. Just giving you a heads up here in case your spam filters kick in (lots of links will sometimes do that).

I had to join B&N, but that was no big deal--it's not like it cost anything. They took my review just fine. As a side note, B&N is an American company, so it's possible that non-US reviewers might be unable to leave reviews there. Being a Californian, this didn't affect me, but I thought I'd mention it.

I couldn't find Hawk McCoy in the Smashwords search box.

I couldn't find it on Kobo, either. I think in the future, the way to do this is for the author to send the reviewer the links. That way the reviewer doesn't have to play guessing games at retailers.
