Lena | 2673 comments When Pendergast talks about his wife does anyone else picture a tall rangy Australian woman with Asian features? Someone named Michi?

LOL! No, but only because I've read the entire "Pendergast Series" to date. ;)

Haha I was going to say the exact same thing.

Marie | 4028 comments Pendergast is in the building! I finally got to that part where he showed up and took over. lol :)

Lena | 2673 comments Thus it gets better.

Marie | 4028 comments Lena wrote: "Thus it gets better."

Any book that Pendergast is in always becomes better! :) lol

Jenny a.k.a....Jenny from the block | 31 comments I’m getting into the story and I do like the way they lay out the platform and keep building on top... I will also enjoy the dvd after I complete the book.

Melanie | 1656 comments I'm loving Frock, that old bad-ass.

Gianfranco Mancini | 581 comments Found my copy buried under hundreds of other books and started it. A real page-turner but having seen the movie I had a great spoiler. Still loving it :)

...buried under hundreds of other books....can I come play at your house..?

April Teesdale (aprilteesdale) | 45 comments I just started this book and it did seem familiar so I watched the movie and for some reason, I was confusing it with the movie Mimic.
So glad I'm getting to read this (for the first time) can't wait to see all the differences I'm only on chapter 2.

Of course. More a books/comics/cd/movies storehouse than an house... Be damned my obsessive compulsive collecting addiction XD

isanythingopen | 22 comments Since I've read The Cellar, I'll join in on this.

Tyler Gray (wickedjr89) | 936 comments My copy should arrive in a couple days :D I also rented the movie on Youtube which gives me 30 days to start it, so i'll be reading Relic soon after it arrives in the mail :)

Jamie Zaccaria | 172 comments I finally got my audiobook copy and planning on starting it tonight on my way home from work!

Kimberly (kimberly_3238) | 7707 comments Mod
Just finished up my (third) reading of this one--still LOVE it.

isanythingopen | 22 comments Lena wrote: "When Pendergast talks about his wife does anyone else picture a tall rangy Australian woman with Asian features? Someone named Michi?"

LOL Sort of. I picture a tallish woman in the cliche safari outfit.

isanythingopen | 22 comments I finished last night.

Melanie | 1656 comments I've only got 20 pages to go (view spoiler) but I'm thinking we're not going to get as tidy an ending as the movie....

Melanie | 1656 comments Finished :)

isanythingopen | 22 comments I'm miffed that my wish for agent Coffey didn't come true.

Melanie | 1656 comments isanythingopen wrote: "I'm miffed that my wish for agent Coffey didn't come true."

Ha! I had the same wish...have you seen the film? The characters in the film version are quite different but I think you might that more satisfying. ;)

...his entrails on the ceiling... Can I sue that for my short story? I love it.

Melanie | 1656 comments USE, USE that! Ducking autocorrect...

message 80: by Lena (new) - rated it 4 stars

Lena | 2673 comments Ducking do it!

Jenny a.k.a....Jenny from the block | 31 comments Ok I’m 18% in and I’m really enjoying the characters and the way IT’s written.

I haven't seen the movie yet, but it is on my list.

Tyler Gray (wickedjr89) | 936 comments I've just started it! Only made it to chapter 3 so far but it seems interesting so far.

message 84: by Tyler (new) - added it

Tyler Gray (wickedjr89) | 936 comments Oops. I thought the spoiler above said was only 20 pages in, not only 20 pages left to go. I'm on page 121 (of 473) so I spoiled myself because i'm so tired and read it wrong.

Regardless I am enjoying it. Not sure what else to say at the moment.

RJ - Slayer of Trolls (hawk5391yahoocom) I'm new to the group but saw you were reading this and wanted to jump in late. I've had this one on my shelf forever! I'll be starting in the next day or so once I finish up a couple other books I'm almost done with...

Welcome to the group Randy and your first group read! Yay!!

RJ - Slayer of Trolls (hawk5391yahoocom) Latasha wrote: "Welcome to the group Randy and your first group read! Yay!!"

Thanks Latasha :)

Gianfranco Mancini | 581 comments Finished. It was a page turning read with a strong "X-Files" vibe, packed with twists, action, chills and a great ending that sadly was spoiled to me by watching the 1997 movie based on it.
4 stars from me :)

message 89: by Elliott (new)

Elliott Scott (elliottjscott) | 10 comments I finished The Cellar in the other group read (if you haven't joined that group, I recommend it) and decided that since it's still early in the month I'll jump on The Relic.

Like a lot of people, this will be my first time reading these authors.

message 90: by Tyler (new) - added it

Tyler Gray (wickedjr89) | 936 comments I'm a little over 1/2 way through and I am seeing why it's compared to Jurassic Park, which I also enjoyed (and recently finally got around to watching the movie!).

Marie | 4028 comments I had forgotten that there were imbecile big wigs wanting to keep the museum open even though there was a killer on the loose. It just goes to show that "the show must go on" and safety is right out the window. Of course, Pendergast will fix that problem. lol :)

Jamie Zaccaria | 172 comments This is basically Jaws set in a museum and I love it.

Tyler Gray (wickedjr89) | 936 comments Pendergast isn't in the movie? He plays such a huge role in the book, and his name is the name of the series. I also noticed the movie says Chicago's museum where-as in the book, it's NYC.

I have never seen the movie but I have rented it from Youtube to watch once i'm done with the book. :)

Also...this is making me want to go to NYC Museum lol.

I was thinking the same thing about going to the museum, only at night....in the dark...

Lol, good luck with that!

Hectaizani | 165 comments I managed to snag a copy from the library so I'm joining you for a reread. It's been years, so I remember the basic premise but not too many of the details. I remember loving this series but then I stopped reading them for some reason. I may have to revisit and finish.

The American Museum of Natural History (ie. The New York Museum of Natural History) is my absolute favorite museum on earth and it's one of the only things that makes me feel homesick and nostalgic about New York City. So many school field trips, so many visits on my own when I was finally old enough to go by myself.

Finding all the weird exhibits tucked away in little odd corners. Such as the skeleton of Jumbo the elephant posed in an alcove on a random stairway. And realizing that Teddy Roosevelt had personally killed almost everything in Africa

Jamie Zaccaria | 172 comments I too LOVE the American Museum of Natural History and have gone so many times.

My favorite part is standing in the Oceans room, under the Blue Whale.

Felina I am loving this book! I haven't read a book in a while. I guess a major reading slump but I'm sucked into this one.

Did someone mention there is a movie?!

Oh yeah. I think we're planning on a relic-a-thon at the end of the month when every-one's finished reading it.
