:D it is a great sequel!
When Pendergast talks about his wife does anyone else picture a tall rangy Australian woman with Asian features? Someone named Michi?

LOL! No, but only because I've read the entire "Pendergast Series" to date. ;)

Haha I was going to say the exact same thing.

I’m getting into the story and I do like the way they lay out the platform and keep building on top... I will also enjoy the dvd after I complete the book.
Found my copy buried under hundreds of other books and started it. A real page-turner but having seen the movie I had a great spoiler. Still loving it :)

I just started this book and it did seem familiar so I watched the movie and for some reason, I was confusing it with the movie Mimic. So glad I'm getting to read this (for the first time) can't wait to see all the differences I'm only on chapter 2.

Of course. More a books/comics/cd/movies storehouse than an house... Be damned my obsessive compulsive collecting addiction XD
My copy should arrive in a couple days :D I also rented the movie on Youtube which gives me 30 days to start it, so i'll be reading Relic soon after it arrives in the mail :)

I've only got 20 pages to go (view spoiler) but I'm thinking we're not going to get as tidy an ending as the movie....

Don’t underestimate the hell on Earth that was the (view spoiler) But yeah, his entrails on the ceiling would not have upset me.

I haven't seen the movie yet, but it is on my list.
Oops. I thought the spoiler above said was only 20 pages in, not only 20 pages left to go. I'm on page 121 (of 473) so I spoiled myself because i'm so tired and read it wrong. Regardless I am enjoying it. Not sure what else to say at the moment.
I'm new to the group but saw you were reading this and wanted to jump in late. I've had this one on my shelf forever! I'll be starting in the next day or so once I finish up a couple other books I'm almost done with...
Finished. It was a page turning read with a strong "X-Files" vibe, packed with twists, action, chills and a great ending that sadly was spoiled to me by watching the 1997 movie based on it.4 stars from me :)
I finished The Cellar in the other group read (if you haven't joined that group, I recommend it) and decided that since it's still early in the month I'll jump on The Relic.Like a lot of people, this will be my first time reading these authors.
I'm a little over 1/2 way through and I am seeing why it's compared to Jurassic Park, which I also enjoyed (and recently finally got around to watching the movie!).
I had forgotten that there were imbecile big wigs wanting to keep the museum open even though there was a killer on the loose. It just goes to show that "the show must go on" and safety is right out the window. Of course, Pendergast will fix that problem. lol :)
Pendergast isn't in the movie? He plays such a huge role in the book, and his name is the name of the series. I also noticed the movie says Chicago's museum where-as in the book, it's NYC. I have never seen the movie but I have rented it from Youtube to watch once i'm done with the book. :)
Also...this is making me want to go to NYC Museum lol.

I was thinking the same thing about going to the museum, only at night....in the dark...

I managed to snag a copy from the library so I'm joining you for a reread. It's been years, so I remember the basic premise but not too many of the details. I remember loving this series but then I stopped reading them for some reason. I may have to revisit and finish. The American Museum of Natural History (ie. The New York Museum of Natural History) is my absolute favorite museum on earth and it's one of the only things that makes me feel homesick and nostalgic about New York City. So many school field trips, so many visits on my own when I was finally old enough to go by myself.
Finding all the weird exhibits tucked away in little odd corners. Such as the skeleton of Jumbo the elephant posed in an alcove on a random stairway. And realizing that Teddy Roosevelt had personally killed almost everything in Africa
I too LOVE the American Museum of Natural History and have gone so many times. My favorite part is standing in the Oceans room, under the Blue Whale.
I am loving this book! I haven't read a book in a while. I guess a major reading slump but I'm sucked into this one. Did someone mention there is a movie?!
