Team 1 - One Team to Find Them All
Kristie, I plan to start with
for tree followed by
for shoe. Can you confirm that these covers are OK? Thanks :-)
I'll probably be starting with By the Pricking of My Thumbs by Agatha Christie, and I found a picture of my cover with a flower (which is not on goodreads): https://www.google.com/search?rlz=1C1...
haha Debra - right back at'cha ;-DBit late to the party - it is 17.13 pm over here, but I am about to start The Daylight Gate for my evening read ;-)
Haha well, I have discovered that By the Pricking of my Thumbs is one of the few Agatha Christie books that has to be read in a certain order and I have not read all the previous books yet. So, change of plans! Kristie, would this Endless Night cover count for moon? https://www.google.com/search?q=endle...
Is it the first one with the moon and the bird, Valerie? If so, it will work, though I think more for bird.
I'm 32% into my first book,
. The main character is going to attend a seance.Edited to add: and a murder during the seance at 43%!
I'm starting with The Witch of Napoli
I still need to find an audiobook for later though (when washing up, walking to work etc) Not sure if this would count for flowers...??

What do you think Kristie?
Lanelle wrote: "I'm 32% into my first book,

That's weird. I'm accompanying a spiritualist to a seance too!
That's a tough one, Annerlee. It's more a sea of flowers than a focus on a flower. So, it sort of falls into that category of a forest isn't really a tree or a restaurant scene isn't a chair, I think.
Annerlee wrote: "That's weird. I'm accompanying a spiritualist to a seance too! "I hope your seance is safer than mine was!
Haha. An evil spirit did some pushing around, but any murders took place outside, so my seances were marginally safer, but still pretty scary at times ; )
Kristie wrote: "That's a tough one, Annerlee. It's more a sea of flowers than a focus on a flower. So, it sort of falls into that category of a forest isn't really a tree or a restaurant scene isn't a chair, I think."OK. I'll look for an alternative... But turning in for the night now (zzzzz)
Good Morning all!It is a beautiful sunny day here in ireland - perfect for outdoor reading. Unfortunately I'm not feeling very well so won't be up to posting too much but I will do a lot of listening ;-)
I have finished my first 2 books.
Tree: The Daylight Gate
. Very gruesome and uncomfortable as it was based on events very close to the truth.Shoes: Vinegar Girl: The Taming of the Shrew Retold
Light read, very pleasant change of pace after the last. I always liked that play and the retelling was fun.Next I'm going to try The Cleaner
for gun. This was a freebee so if it doesn't grab my I will quickly but it aside.Happy reading team
We had a couple of sunny days and now the haar is rolling in from the sea. No sun today then : ( I'll be staying inside - there will be midges!I'm listening to
and have started reading
.Early days for both yet, but they've started well.

Sorry to hear youre not feeling too well Margo. Hope it gets better as th e day wears on...
Margo, I remember one Toppler where I came down with a bad cold at the beginning of it. I certainly didn't feel well, but I got a lot of reading done!
Annerlee, I hope you enjoy
. I think it's a great story. I was thinking of putting the 3rd in that series,
, on my list for this Toppler.
Lanelle wrote: "Nice try, Debra. Just got up after a good night's rest!"Hmmm... have to try a new tactic. Feel like a Bloody Mary or Mimosa or Bailey's for breakfast?
Whew, I am not a morning person but I woke up at 6:30 this morning and couldn't get back to sleep so decided to read, and ended up finishing Endless Night! The first two thirds were pretty boring, but I flew through the last few chapters and it was, of course, a classic Agatha Christie mindblowing ending.I'm debating about what book to start next. I was thinking about A Natural History of Dragons or I may start on Flowers of the Killer Moon as it's my book club's choice for June, if you think this cover would count for sun, Kristie:
If not, I can always read it next weekend, and instead read my dragon book I've been wanting to read or maybe Maltese Falcon :)

Sorry to hear you're not feeling well, Margo. I hope you feel better soon.
Thanks guys - only a sinus infection combined with poor nights sleep. As I said - good day for listening ;-)The Cleaner wasn't for me so I ditched it after about 20 mins. That's another one off my TBR (but I keep finding unread books that were shelved wrongly so I'm still not managing to cut it down :-o
Now listening to
.
I haven't gotten too far on my books yet. I actually did take a nap! I blame Debra!! Just kidding! I didn't sleep well last night and had a migraine earlier. The nap seems to have helped though, so after dinner I hope to catch up on a bit of reading. :)
Kristie, hope the migraine is under control - I am a fellow sufferer. I crashed out for nearly 4 hours so I will probably be reading through the night. But I needed it! Debra has a lot to answer to answer for hahaAnnerlee, I have enjoyed all the Matt Haig books I have read so far. No 5 star material but all solid 4's. As you say - fun 😊
Re Matt Haig books: This is the first one I've tried, but I'm loving the small town mentality of the characters - it reminds me of the island mentality of where I live and it's got me smiling quite a bit.I didn't get as much reading done as I'd hoped yesterday - our website had a problem and I spent a couple of hours fixing it, then we had a grocery delivery (and we just had to try a few things - the cupboards have been bare for a couple of days and it was so good to have goodies again), then a friend turned up yesterday evening on a surprise visit from the mainland.
Oh well, I read on the bus on the way to work and can take an extended lunch hour to make up some ground.
Annerlee wrote: "Re Matt Haig books: This is the first one I've tried, but I'm loving the small town mentality of the characters - it reminds me of the island mentality of where I live and it's got me smiling quite..."Yes, there is something about his books that makes me smile 😊 Do you live on one of the Scottish islands Annerlee? I have a friend that was born on one of the tiny ones - I can never remember the name of it! They sound like a different world. She didn't see a banana til she was 7 on a trip to the mainland. They would last the boat trip to her island !
I picked up
yesterday. I will use it for eye next. There is 3 hours left in my current listen.Today is a holiday here so should get some decent reading time but I have to go visiting *mutter mutter - interfering with reading time lol*
Margo wrote: "I picked up

Margo wrote: "Do you live on one of the Scottish islands Annerlee?..."Yes. I live in the Shetland Isles (North Mainland Shetland). That's the place where all the murders happen, according to Anne Cleeves ( not true ! )

Hehe sounds as dangerous as Midsomer !
Kristie wrote: "Finally finished my first book today! Hope you're all enjoying your reads!"It's a nice, relaxed toppler Kristie. I'm enjoying it very much 😄
Finished my first book, A Girl Is a Half-formed Thing, for apple. It was a challenging read, not the best choice for a toppler. Next, I’m reading The Crow Eaters
, for feather. It’s an easier read, and quite entertaining, so far.
Just finished Bubba and the Dead Woman for shoes. I was pleasantly surprised at how good it was. This is despite the book's voluptious loose woman being named after me (Annalee). Oh well.
I've sneaked a quick read at work, so it'll be lunchtime before I start my next book. It might be The Scarlet Pimpernel or one of the many books I've collected with eyes on the front. Don't know yet.
I've started Children Of The Deterrent. It is my first by this author and I am really enjoying it. The narration is excellent.
I'm about 45% through
and it's good, but difficult to read at points. Trigger warnings all over the place for child abuse and rape. I also just started
and it's a bit weird the way it's written. I didn't realize it was written through letters or at least it's started out that that way. I listen to more today and see how it goes.
