It might be fine for the people on the first several floors, but imagine being on the top floor like the Baudelaires. Also, Esme seems more concerned with what is currently trending than about the children’s wellbeing. I am worried about what might happen if orphans go out of style... (hide spoiler)]

My guess is Count Olaf is going to make orphans be “out” and Esme will want to find a way to get rid of them. I like Jerome a lot, but he seems pretty clueless. (hide spoiler)]

Finished (view spoiler)[ Olaf's response to Sunny revealing his peg leg was legitimately hilarious. And Mr. Poe attempting to chase them down is equally hilarious because he's literally so useless. (hide spoiler)]

(view spoiler)[I wonder how this elevator secret hiding place got put into place. Count Olaf only arrived shortly after the children got to their new home. It would be pretty hard to install an up button on the top floor in that short of time. Maybe the hiding spot was already there? (hide spoiler)]

(view spoiler)[I kind of expected Esme to actually be working with Count Olaf. These chapters just confirmed my suspicious. Also, I am having a hard time picturing Sunny climbing the elevator shaft with her teeth. (hide spoiler)]

(view spoiler)[Count Olaf is even greedier than I originally thought. He already has the triplets, who have a huge sapphire fortune. Why continue to put yourself at risk by trying to get the Baudelaires too? Also, why has no one in this series suggested that Count Olaf might have started the fire that killed the Baudelaire children’s parents? The trapdoor led them right to where the mansion used to be. (view spoiler)[It didn’t take much to turn the Elders against the Baudelaire siblings. First they believed that they couldn’t hurt anyone because they were just children. Then when the weak evidence was presented, they suddenly wanted to burn them at the stake. Most of the adults are crazy in this series. (hide spoiler)]
