And really - it could take hundreds of years to find Citra and Rowan. I kind of think it won't because of our other main characters, but I don't know. And....it sounds almost like Thunderhead may be turning into an evil AI. Marking everyone as unsavory? I just...don't.....know..... Is it evil now? (hide spoiler)]

I'm glad that the Thunderhead realized it is all so unsustainable, but I was really nervous and I was not trusting Thunderhead because, well, it sounded so...creepy like about the adoration and the god-like qualities and when it said it felt a betrayal and all, but I think it's good, not talking to everyone, not giving them access. This book is hard to put down! I finished part 3, through chapter 23, and it’s really surprising and thought provoking. I’ll definitely discuss the book with you too, Shelby!

(view spoiler)[ I was surprised the unsavories were content with less than real rebellion. But they obviously aren’t content. The suspense is killing me! What can Slayde do to stop Purity?

My heart skipped a beat when I heard chapter 22’s title, “The Death Of Grayson Tolliver”. It wasn’t what I expected. But it was so sad that Grayson’s parole officer was gleaned and now poor Grayson is all alone. He is truly on his own.

The Thunderhead segments are so illuminating with some thought provoking ideas. Freedom and permission was eye opening. I never thought about these concepts so in deathly.

Not surprised the population will eventually get too large for the earth to sustain. Not sure Thunderhead should stay out of it as he does. Limiting births would be the easiest solution in my opinion. After all Thunderhead is there to help humanity and keeping the population down is a way to do so!

Just finished Part 1.

(view spoiler)[I am curious to know more about the Thunderhead and how it seems to be involved and evolving on a different level. I think it's got me the most curious at this point so early in the book.

Obviously Citra and Rowan are still on opposite ends of their world right now. They care for each other but there's not much they can do. I do find it interesting that the Thunderhead thinks Citra has the potential to change the world.

There really could be something to her approach to reaping that might help put the spark of life back in the living of the world. She's chosen an interesting path but I like it as a choice. I don't know that I would want to know, but then again after living that long maybe it would be a wonderful shock. I do like the idea of getting to put all your affairs in order and say goodbye to those you care about. (hide spoiler)]

About the ending
(view spoiler)[ I loved the ending, but it will take some time for my mind to process. Because the island was being rebooted, I am assuming it will rise again in 8 minutes (as it was 12 minutes to sinking and 20 minutes for reboot) from memory. So my guess is that although Citra and Rowan will be deadish, they will be found and revived fairly quickly. I wonder if Xenocrates and maybe others will also be found and revived? (hide spoiler)]

That the Thunderhead finally realised that a life without consequence is not a life I think has led to the U for everyone. Plus being mad about what they did at the island. Maybe it needs for humanity to stand on it's own two feet for once. After all, now they are marked with a U it means they can't talk to the Thunderhead for 4 months.

I quite like the Thunderhead's entries. They're quite useful and informative. I was reading this at work today so I might have not noticed some important things in the entries.

I was surprised to hear about how Rowan is leading his life style now but I do understand why he is like that.

I'm intrigued by Greyson as well. Why is he special? Curious.

Citra seems like she hasn't changed from the last book. I was surprised by the way she gleans. But it makes sense as there are many ways to die. I know I'd like a month to get myself together and prepare to die in my own way. But, if this was actually happening I don't know what I'd choose.

And I hope we get to know what happened to Scythe Faraday...

I am enjoying Thunderhead’s segments too. But I find that I disagree with some of his reasoning. Especially in part 3.

I like how he's becoming this kind of secret agent. I'm really curious to learn more and see just what things he's going to discover among the unsavories.

Somehow I think the Charter Region of Texas is just going to become a hotbed of trouble. I've never really been a fan of Tyger, but I get the feeling I'm going to like him less and less as the book goes on. Cheap thrills seem to be all he cares about. Yuck. But the scythe he's with, Scythe Rand, seems like she could be a scary problem that needs to be watched out for. (hide spoiler)]

I like Greyson already! He had so much to lose and still did what he thought was right. And him assuming his role as a spy means new unsavory characters, very curious about them!
The Office of Unsavory Affairs and its inconvenience by design as a nod to the bureaucratic hell that is MVA (or other like establishments) made me laugh :).

Citra's falling out with her family is to be expected I guess but it still made me sad.

Scythe Constantine is giving me chills, what game is he playing and whose side is he on?

I am so excited about Scythe Faraday's quest to find the place that may or may not exist! Hopefully there is a detailed account of his adventure and not just a brief mention :) (hide spoiler)]

I still like Greyson but I'm now worried about him too. He's falling into things quickly and the rug's been pulled out from under him with Agent Traxler's gleaning. Obvious some mucky mucks are pulling strings in the game against the Thunderhead. But I'm worried. I was hoping that maybe he and Rowan would find each other but poor Rowan's caught in nasty nasty Brahms web now.

Greyson (view spoiler)[I just love him. I hope we see more of him. Its nice seeing someone go beyond their own comfort to help someone else because they know its the right thing to do. He's obviously very bright too. So I can't wait to see what he will be doing as we continue to read especially since he is going under cover. (hide spoiler)]

Parenting in general in this book: (view spoiler)[Him and Rowan both have families that seem not to care about them. And its starting to feel like the longer the people live and the more kids they have the less they care about them. Citra and Ben were the first kids for the their parents and they seem to be doing a great job of raising them but Rowan and Grayson are both like batch number 3 and the parents have stopped caring. So whats the point of having more kids ... why not just stop (hide spoiler)]

Thunderhead (view spoiler)[ is starting to freak me out. It seems to have found everyone that it needs and has groomed them for the roles to play. And its "i make no mistakes and I am just observing and helping mankind" demeanor is now starting to feel not so great. I still think its doing things for the best but it just feels like a slippery slope since it has all these people in play for its plan to work. (hide spoiler)]

Rowan (view spoiler)[ I wanted to see or read more of Rowan and he's been left out mostly. But I am glad he still has a conscience and seems to be really researching his victims. But the last paragraph where he admitted Faraday was right and he was wrong but did not want to admit to his failure was a bit chilling to read. Because I think it shows his need to kill. Greyson and Unsavory(view spoiler)[ He had like a second of hesitation and then he just went right into his role and i was like awwww! He's the best. I love to have characters in books that are genuinely good people. The bureaucracy and the way its setup to be inefficient cracked me up. Because nothing gets you to bond with random people then to complain about the DMV or any other thing you have to wait in line for at a government agency. (hide spoiler)]

But what the mother said and did and how her family let it stand without trying to fix it made me so sad for her. Because part of the problem as I read it was that even after the ballasts came back on they would have been past critical mass. They wouldn't be able to push out water fast enough to over turn the sinking. I think it'll be a bit of time before they're discovered. The world is going to have to go down and hit rock bottom before they can be found to restore order and peace in a new way. (hide spoiler)]

I was suspecting Tyger will be used to host Goddard's mind but I thought his body would be left intact and was hoping for the possibility of reverse procedure to return him back. Should've known better, it's not my first Shusterman!

Still not sure where to place Constantine, he remains just ambiguous enough to not be assigned to any camp despite his actions to save Scythes Anastasia and Curie during the attack in the theater.

I feel so bad for Grayson, he's being tossed around and not given much choice. I hope he doesn't lose his sense of self in all this. (hide spoiler)]

Finished! I liked the second book even better than the first, I think! (view spoiler)[The ending was pretty great and Great Resonance - a cherry on top! So many ways the story can go from here, hopefully next book will live up to the expectations.

I think Xenocrates may be found and revived if he stayed in one piece, but things are probably over for Scythe Curie sadly. And I agree with Karen, I don't think Thunderhead is turning evil, it looks to me like it's just cutting apron strings. I love that Greyson will be its sole liaison with the humankind, he's my favourite new character! I also harbour a tiny hope that Rand saved and froze Tyger's head secretly but it's a very long shot :) (hide spoiler)]

I'm midway through Chapter 24 in part three and I still really enjoying this.

Thunderhead is freaking me out though. It's like an ever patient parent but I feel like there's something sinister in its operations. I don't fully trust it. It's musings are interesting but still unnerving.

The Unsavories are an interesting addition to the story. I like hearing how the Thunderhead handles them and what the Unsavories think of the Scythes and the Thunderhead. And wouldn't you think that they would all go to Texas as the Thunderhead isn't there?

I'm supposed to be doing homework for class tomorrow, but I want to keep reading this.

Those are great examples of Thunderhead's thoughts! things I like those little "thoughts" or "journals" are actually important to the story and not just throw-away filler.

OK so just finished this book and the ending was just not what I expected. I thought (view spoiler)[that was just super sweet of Curie to save Anastasia and Rowen. And then went out there and made sure that everyone died a good and merciful death.

Goddard ... I just can't with that guy. I don't understand how he got away with so much crap. And until this point he did not go around murdering scythes. But he took out a whole island of them.

Thunderhead: So interesting how that ended. And how the tonist got what they were waiting for. Definitely makes you think what will happen next. Since the thunderhead feels betrayed and a whole lot of people died.
