also a recommendation for people looking for a photography book:
It's What I Do: A Photographer's Life of Love and War

Thank you.

Will

Thank you."
the branches are definitely more than part of the lettering - i would consider them a pattern so this won't work, sorry

also a recommendation for people looking for a photography book:
It's What I Do: A Photographer's Life of Love and War"
that also looks like it will work

i think that works there are no patterns under the text

I am really struggling with this Vernacular thingy, and yet that is more my way of learning.

..."
Only The Road Back works for this challenge the others have patterns on, one has a bird on it

Yes i would say that works the letters are split but there is no pattern on the cover

ETA: I didn't check on lengths!

the first one definitely works the second has a stripe in the U so

verified MPG linguistics/ language

verified for MPG - Humanities> Language

I am not convinced about this - there looks to be a pattern in the green background . I have tried to enlarge the image as far as i can but I would have to say no

It is showing on MPG now so that works

Thx!

the first does not work as there is pattern within the word Americanah - sorry we decided to be really stringent to stop controversy
The second works fine

It's just a polite phrasing. I'll change it to must.

sorry about that and thanks Sandy

I finally gave up on option 2a and moved to (b) in both options. Now I find that my Language book is not long enough! Yikes!
Found a book in the GA Library system! Yippee!!!

I think you are misreading the task, Bea.
You have to pick either 1:Spectacular or 2:Vernacular ... and read a) and b) from that Option ... so read either 1a and 1b -or- read 2a and 2c, -or- read 1b and 1c ... etc

They both work there should be no problem with the list one if it is on it is on. I will add the art one to approvals - it feels good when you find what you need

That book sounds really interesting by the way

Would this work for the text only cover, please?

Please verify for Language and Linguistics - The Prodigal Tongue: The Love-Hate Relationship Between American and British English. Thanks!

Thank you!

Just in case you were wondering, the image inside the "O" is an old videogame-style man reaching for a key. :)

In every season there are tasks that I sigh over thinking what on earth will I read for that. Last Season one of those tasks asked for a Non-fiction book with a building on the cover. I chose a book, available from the library and as short as could be. It turned out to be one of the most interesting reads of the season - This book was Spectacular Vernacular: London's 100 Most Extraordinary Buildings
and forms the basis of my task this season. So thank you to Catherine T for that Spring task and the idea for this one.
Do you interpret what you see primarily through visual means or through language? For instance, if you see a beautiful landscape are you more likely to explain it verbally / in the written word or would you create a visual representation? Try and let the way you interpret what you see guide the option you choose.
• Read 2 books that fit different tasks in the SAME option.
• Each book must be at least 275 pages
• One must be Non- Fiction (you can read 2 non-fiction but not 2 Fiction)
OPTION 1 – SPECTACULAR
a) One of the dictionary definitions of Spectacular is “beautiful in a dramatic and eye-catching way.” Read a book with a fabulous cover from one of these lists
•Best Book Covers of 2017
•Crazy Beautiful Book Covers
•Beautiful Book Cover Design
If the book appears on the list, you do not have to read the edition on the list or an edition with the same cover.
REQUIRED: state which list you have used and the page number if applicable
b) These covers show just how individual and expressive artwork can be so for this option
Read a book with MPG of Art or Photography stand alone or embedded. - Please remember the SRC general rule about
"Coffee table", Art books, and other books consisting primarily of images or photographs. Your book must contain at least 100 pages of text.
c) read a book with all the letters of “SPECTACULAR” in the title / subtitle
OPTION 2 - VERNACULAR
The dictionary definitions of Vernacular include
The language or dialect spoken by the ordinary people of a country or region.
OR terminology used by people belonging to a specified group or engaging in a specialized activity.
a) Read a book with TEXT ONLY on the cover you could use this list for ideas but you are not limited to it. The cover must be plain except for the text - no borders, patterns, etc.
Text Only Covers CAUTION - While this list may give you ideas, many of the books on the list will not work for this task, since the covers have patterns, borders, etc.
REQUIRED – include the cover in your post.
b) read a book with an MPG of “Language” or “Linguistics, “ stand alone or embedded
c) Read a book with all the letters of “VERNACULAR” in the title / subtitle
