O.o Are you a minion lover, Alice?
I think that a yes. Anywho... what we gonna do about the story? It seemed to have lost its... story.

(Last one was: "Andrew? Dylan?" Kaleigh calls, her voice hoarse)
I hear nothing, nothing but drips from the ceiling. My heart quickens. This wasn't a room, but some sort of cave. I hear something that's echo-like - voices! I search around until I find some sort of tunnel. My heart quickens when someone down there says, "Oy! Savin! Drag 'im like this - e're you go. Heavy noblemen they are."

"We," he said gesturing to the girl, "Are the Rowanoak Guardians, sworn to protect those who are the Moonshadows. Or what is left of them. The one on the floor is Zinnia, but you may call me Basil."

"Who?" pressed Basil gently, it seemed her brother didn't feel comfortable probing his sister's mind.
"They. They know we're here. Not safe." suddenly her eyes sprang open and she sat up her face wide in recognition, "They're going to kill us! They're going to close the opening!"
There was a rumble and small rocks fell from the ceiling. "Grab the prince!" She shrieked at me, at then dove at Dylan heaving him upwards with ease. "We have to get out!" she yelled. I screamed as an enormous rock fell only a few feet away from me.

"Your highness!" yelled Zinnia.
I made a lousy attempt to dodge, and I heard a sickening crunch. I gasped in pain, someone had banged their hilt on my left shoulder.

"Where's Basil?" I hissed landing beside her. She walked really fast.
Zinnia glared at me sharply, "My brother's ways are different from MY ways, my paths are different from HIS paths. We're as different as the sun and moon, but if I know him at all he's guarding the exit for us."

It hissed, it's foot long pinchers snapping at nothing. A hundred bulging eyes protruded out of it's massive forehead, while eight hairy legs trapezed on the web. It's flabbergasting to say, but when Basil seemed to be facing his death all I could think about was how gross the spider looked. Basil didn't look like he was about to die, he only stared at the spider, and then it seemed to recoil. It flopped over to it's side emitting a horrible shriek. Basil bounced, but Basil shared Zinnia's elf-like balance and strength while Andrew flopped uselessly behind him.
The spider flipped backwards, it's legs curling under. Then it began to fizz and slowly disappear. What was left was Zinnia and Dylan curled up in a ball coated with green slime.
"I. HATE. This." Spat Zinnia in the green ooze.

Zinnia was first to land on her feet, but then was knocked over by Dylan. Who was knocked into by Andrew, then Basil, and then me.
"Get off of me!" yelled Zinnia, directed to no one in particular. We all scrambled not wanting to risk her wrath.
(Whoa. Lots to read. Can someone gimme the gist of whats going on?)

(Ok. I'll read the last few comments.)
(Ok. Fell down whole after the huge spider scene. Creepy. Lets do it.)
"Everyone alright?" I ask, slowly getting up.
"Everyone alright?" I ask, slowly getting up.
(Still going in Kaleigh's POV, right?)

Basil shivered, "At least it wasn't Ceci today."
"Ceci?" I repeated.
Basil nodded solemnly, "Oh yes, Ceci the centipede. Grumpy one she is."
"Ew." I commented, not wanting to know more.

"Nothing that can't be solved I assume." Basil sighed, "We don't have a home you see, this of course wasn't preferable, but I'm afraid I'm more adjusted to it then she is all these years."
Dylan was admiring a shelf of books and for the first time he spoke, "So you live here alone?"
"Oh we rarely come down here," Basil replied, "We're always doing something-"
"Like spying?" I interrupted sarcastically.
Basil was prepared for this sort of question it seems, "We do not 'spy' spying is snooping where you don't belong. Spying is me probing your minds to see how much you know WITHOUT permission. As guardians of the Rowanoaks we make it our duty to watch, with permission from the heiress at the time being your mother, for the signs of the next Moonshadow, and to protect that person wherever she shall go. You weren't originally meant to see us Princess, but, alas. Fate is a messy business."
"Wait, so your confirming that Kal's the next Moonshadow?" Came Andrew suddenly.
"No," interjected Zinnia from the shadows. Arms crossed, and impatient. "We see traits, and go off of there. Whether your princess is the REAL Moonshadow we have yet to see."

I mean, the room was simple. A fourposter was stuck up against a wall with a plush blanket. There was a small window on the ceiling hidden by leaves. The floor was wood instead of dirt and there was a closet. I mean, sure, the room looked like something the Hobbit would sleep in, but it was still cool. A desk was at the corner with pen and paper, and there was even a tub against the wall. How I ached for a good bath!
"Is this your room?" I asked feeling guilty.
Zinnia snorted, "Are you kidding? No. This is the room designated for hiding guests," suddenly she smiled wickedly, "or captors."
I winced. I knew she was joking, but it still made me feel uncomfortable.

But they ARE assassins. That's their whole purpose isn't it? To defend. I've seen their handiwork. Zinnia's more hands-on of course, but what about Basil? Could he kill from within the mind? Is that why that troll looked unharmed from the outside? I felt like I was about to puke. I shivered. Basil looks innocent, but...
I heard something from the outside and leapt to my feet. From the crack came a slip of white paper. Confused I ran towards it and unfolded it,
Princess,
I am very sorry about this. I have tried to intervene on your behalf with my sister Zinnia, but she has objected to letting you out, yet I hope you find your room to your liking. Please forgive Zinnia's hostile behavior, and know that I had no intention of keeping you captive. One day, I hope, I will be able to tell you of Zinnia's past and why she acts this way, but until then I request that you not cross her (of course you know this by now certainly).
Your 'testing' as Zinnia calls it will not cause you any harm and will start after you eat your lunch, which will be served inside your room as well.
As for your companions - you will find them safe and well in their own rooms and you will be quite happy to know that I have successfully healed their wounds to prevent infection. However they are a questioning lot and will not stop asking about you. Other than that I require that you burn this letter, or else Zinnia will be in an even worse mood than before.
Until Noon Your Guardian,
Basil

That I fashioned a crude grappling hook, crashed the window on the ceiling and made a movie getaway.
Or that I looked for a secret passage way that led outside.
Or that I picked the lock with nothing but a hairpin.
Unfortunately, I'm apparently not cool enough. And this isn't an epic adventure being filmed and I don't have thousands of re-runs to get it right. Nope. It's not. So I sit on my bed. Lame. But, true.

1) Never eat anything Zinnia gives you
Yeah it's a good rule.

Her fiery personage stepped out of the darkness.
"And I have to admit," I spoke angrily, "You're doing a pretty lame job being a guardian. Last I checked kicking and sleep concoctions were against the rule book."
Zinnia growled, "Last I checked-"
"Stop it! Both of you!" Barked Basil, he stepped our of the shadows too. One moment his face was bright red, the next it was pale and calm. "Please forgive my outburst," he said quietly then snapped his head Zinnia's direction, "If your not going to be any help I suggest you leave."
Zinnia glared at him.
"Fine. Stay." was his reaction, then he made his way over to me, "I'm quite sorry about this." He said.
"If your truly sorry why don't you let me go then?" I snapped.
Basil was taken off guard and seemed genuinely hurt. I felt a bit of guilt run up me. Zinnia advanced, but Basil shook his head slowly. "No, she's right." Was his quiet reply.
He turned to me, "If your really the Moonshadow you'll know the location of the ring, but it's clearly not on the forefront of your mind. Probably tucked away in a corner. So I'm just going to search for you."
Guilt gone. I was furious. "What?!" That followed a bit of panic.
"It won't hurt," came Basil quickly.
I closed my eyes and shook my head in resignation. "Fine, but do it quickly though. And don't let HER near me." I pointed towards Zinnia. She scowled, but didn't say anything.

There was a pause for a moment until Zinnia broke the silence, "Megan is."
"You know about Megan? What have you done to her?!" I exclaim in blind furry.
XD
((MEGAN IS KALEIGH'S SISTER, IS SAYS AT THE BEGINNING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ;))
((MEGAN IS KALEIGH'S SISTER, IS SAYS AT THE BEGINNING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ;))
(CRUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'll change that. :-P)
(Yeah... Sorry about that. XD)
((S'fine, it made my day [I started laughing cuz the thought of Kaleigh going, "Who's Megan"]) :P

Zinnia looked like she wanted to roll her eyes at what she would call my 'sheer stupidity', Basil only calmly interjected.
"Believing you were the Moonshadow we abandoned Rowanoak castle to assist you. Unless, Princess Megan's royal guards managed to fail her she should still be at the castle. As for the question of how we KNOW her - we've been watching you two since birth. Trying to find which one has the most potential to become a Moonshadow."
My anger subdued, "But I thought it always falls to the oldest daughter - so how does it get to Meg?"
Basil shrugged, "Genes wasn't my field of expertise, but the most logical explanation is that to say sometime your lifetime your 'inheritance' -as you claim to label it- was switched."

"So that's it then? This journey was for nothing?" I asked incredulously, not to say that it will matter now. But if I'm not the next Moonshadow... does that mean Andrew and I can still be friends? The two kingdoms no longer divided? Or will his dad object because there's still Megan?
Zinnia seemed to delight in confirming my 'denial', "Pretty much," she wiped away a fake tear, "And I'd love to stay and CRY about it, but Basil and I have the REAL heir to look after now."
I wasn't going to let her get satisfaction.
"I never wanted to be the Moonshadow anyway, and anywhere away from you would be wonderful."
Zinnia rolled her eyes and I felt my blood churn angrily. Of course I couldn't DO anything about her disrespect, and my mom either. My guess was that Zinnia and Basil were an order of their own, not shrouded by a monarchy. I envied her freedom.

Training Meghan?! Was she crazy! Unless Zinnia wants me to school Meg in the art of dancing and fans - maybe even how to tase someone- I'm useless.

Her head lifted, and I realized she had thin wrinkles around her eyes and mouth. It was hard to see, but you could've sworn she was very ancient. Her height, and nearly flawless skin was the only thing that kept her looking like a child.
"I am not," she responded softly, her quiet temperament reminded me very much of Basil, "I belong to no order, other than my own."

@Alice - for future reference what is Meghan's full name? Kaleigh's middle name is Emerald, and if we're sticking to green gems would you prefer Meghan Jade? Or Meghan Peridot? Or do you have another one?)

I looked at her as if she was a an alien. She laughed and found it hysterical.
After a few spasms she spoke again, "No, seriously though, I'm not truly a guardian. Yet anyway. Just an apprentice to Master Basil. He's been training me for months now and FINALLY decided to put me to use while he and Zinn-Zinn go to get the Moonshadow."

"I don't know," admitted the flighty girl, "I was doing some weird charm with Bas and POOF,"
I jumped.
"It changed." she finished, "Bas was going to change it back bbbuuuttt... I like it this way." Her eyes widened, "It can even change according to my mood!"

Zinnia had to be nearing the end of fifteen with her red fire hydrant hair, pale skin, and light blue eyes.
Basil had to be at least fourteen with his brown hair and silver eyes.
While Astar, had to be thirteen with her absurd mood-ring hair and violet eyes.
Speaking of Astar, her voice came suddenly, "Your not paying attention!" she sang. No literally. She did.

Her sharp teeth seemed to file down and sink back into her gums.
"Only a bit," she said showing me with her fingers. It was probably a fraction of an inch. "but most of your thoughts are written on your face. Besides telekinesis is more my speed. I find mind-reading boring, Bas says I don't have enough 'patience'," she smiled, "but I must have more than Zinn because she can't at all."
