Magdalena | 414 comments I used my free vote but I really don't care which one wins. I love all three choices!

LibraryCin | 11702 comments I have an absolute definite favourite among the choices!

LOL! 14 (or 15 is acceptable) Celsius, in my opinion is as warm as it ever needs to get! At least if the sun is out. :-) If it's cloudy, I am ok with slightly higher temperatures! Today was almost 30 here in Calgary, I think. I hate 30!!!!! Waayyyyy too hot!

YAY!!!! Thank you, Rachel! Looking at the comments, I'm also a tad worried...

I’m with you. Anything above 25 is too warm. If humidity is high, even worse...

Seriously, 15? Wow! I prefer 21-25 for summer temperatures, and NOT humid (or too dry, either). 22 is the average high in the warmest part of the summer where I'm from, so that's a big influence, I think.

message 57: by Jason (new)

Jason Oliver | 3049 comments Yall lost me with the Celsius. All the numbers seem low to me. haha

Voted. Not my favorite choices but as always, I will find something to read.

message 58: by Susie (new)

Susie Ha! I am completely lost with Fahrenheit! Lucky I have my trusty converter. So 15C is 59F. Not freezing, I know, but freezing enough for me! In Melbourne the lowest high we would ever get is about 50F, and overnight low would be 32 on the odd occasion. The flip side is that we get highs of up to 118F during summer!!

Susie Nicole, I’m an education support worker in the kitchen garden of a local primary school.

Yup! I've gotten less tolerant as I've gotten older. I can guarantee you it is mostly because I walk. If the sun is beating down on me, it's too hot! I used to say 25C was my threshold. Maybe 10ish years ago, I lowered that to 20C. But, it wasn't long after

[ETA: Crap! Where did the rest of my sentence disappear to!? Meant to continue that it wasn't long after that I lowered it again. 17ish might be ok, but 15 is better. Can't recall exactly what I'd typed now...]

Remember, that's with the sun out. If it's cloudy, it can be warmer.

Now, if I only "have to" go outside to sit in the shade with a book and a large glass of iced tea, then I can tolerate much hotter. But, I still need shade! :-)

Ok, now I need a converter to convert back to Celsius! But, even without conversion... 118F!!!!!! omg... how does anyone even move in that temperature!!! (Now, to go find a converter... 48C!!!! UGH!)

Meli (melihooker) | 4165 comments Looks like a tag / genre with the least amount of titles I want to read currently. I am not totally against magical realism, I have enjoyed Haruki Murakami books, but not feeling it.

But I will challenge myself if this tag is picked!

I'm less tolerant as I get older, too, but I don't live where you do! It doesn't get as cold here in the winter due to being relatively near the Atlantic Ocean on the opposited sides of the continent and the 49th parallel than where I grew up (well, most of the time, 3 years were in CA and one was on the other side of the Atlantic).

message 66: by Jason (new)

Jason Oliver | 3049 comments Where I live, summers are regularly high 90s low triple digits F with very high humidity. Winters are low to high 40s F with occasional cold snaps into the low 30s F

About what it is here in South Texas Gulf Coast with regularly over 100°F/37.778°C and mostly cold snaps in low 40s/about 4.4°C And like there, often humid and windy.

Idit | 1028 comments Give me 32c for a sunny day and it’s bliss
(But actually I’ll happily take 32F if (and only if) it’s accompanied by snow

message 69: by KateNZ (new)

KateNZ | 4101 comments Anything above 30C makes me miserable if I have to do anything. Of course if I’m just lying in a shady spot with a book, I don’t care quite as much 😋

Gradually moving into more wintry temperatures overnight here though it’s still been 15-17C during the day which is weirdly warm. Wondering when the southerlies (our cold winds) are going to hit... there’s nothing to speak of between us and Antarctica so it can get chilly 🌬

If fairy tales win this month, I’ll be kicking myself as I had to start The Bear and the Nightingale - it’s due back at the library. (Loving it!!) Still, plenty else on the list.

message 70: by Idit (new)

Idit | 1028 comments The Southerlies sound very magical.
And I imagine you can see the Aurora from NZ as well - so bonus points for that.
The cool thing about 32C is that it’s hot in the shade too

Josephine Mallory | 14 comments Well, looking at the definitions of magical realism, if that one wins I will finally have an excuse to go buy House of Leaves, by Mark Z. Danielewski. I've wanted to read it forever, but it's huge and expensive, and I've never seen a copy in a library or a used book store. This might just be the push I need :D

I read Anita's review, which made me laugh. I think I'll take a pass on this one. :)

LOL because of you I read it too - and it's fascinating to compare Anita's review (2 stars) to Jen's (5 stars), which came right after it on my page, so I'm no better off! But either way it sounds like a lot of work to read.

Glad I could make you laugh because something good needed to come out of me reading that book. I like making people laugh, so your comment makes me feel a teeny bit better about wasting my time.

Josephine, I so wish I had my copy to ship to you. Sadly, I'm moving and that's entailed giving away a lot of books, and I'm pretty sure that was amongst them. I'll double check to be sure.

It's a lot of work, and as a reader that generally doesn't mind doing my share of the heavy lifting . . .the payoff was not worth it.

Cynda Hi. I am getting excited, anxious or both to know when we will find find out what book tag was selected for the next month. When do we find out each month?

Hi Cynda,

I usually announce right after the voting closes (around the 23rd or 24th of the month).

You previously voted, Barbara. If you voted again somehow, then Anita will just ignore your second vote.

I think sometimes if you clear your browsing history/cookies or use a different computer/device to vote that it doesn't recognize you. Also, I am convinced it is all tied into Google somehow because Google runs the world. Or, at least monitors it!
