Translated versions showing up on main books list?

I noticed when I sorted JR Ward's books by pub date that her earliest books (Moorehouse Legacy) are showing translated versions in the list, even though they are definitely not the most shelved versions. At first I thought they were additional editions that needed to be combined, but they do include all 20 plus editions.
So why does the translated version show up for these? Is this an issue that should be reported?

Hello! I came to report a similar issue. If one search Jurassic Park on Goodreads, the Spanish edition comes up by default instead of the English one. Even the google search links to the Spanish edition. I think it will be a bit confusing for the new users.

Please let us know the necessary guidelines in cases like these, as it seems to be a recurrent issue.

It is simply the edition shelved by more users than any other.

Also, when a thread is linked at the top to a specific author or book, please start new threads for questions about other books.

Top three books are the translated editions, and none of them are the ones with the most reviews.

The author in question is secondary, and not on all editions of the work. This tends to cause which edition shows up to not follow popularity.

Looks at the primary author instead and you'll probably see the edition you expect.

JR Ward is the pen name of Jessica Bird and the books in the series were all reissued with new titles and with Ward's name as primary, no doubt making things more confusing.

Still not sure why a less-reviewed foreign edition shows up on either author's page though! But you're right, on Bird's page the original (and most-reviewed) version is shown.

Actually, those editions correctly have Bird as primary, since that is the name under which the work was originally published.

If all the editions had Ward in the second spot (instead of as it is now, where that name is in the 3rd slot on some editions and not at all on others), the most popular one might show up first on Ward's author profile as well. But no guarantees, since the way we sort editions for secondary authors can depend on other factors as well. So it's not nearly as predictable as for primary authors of a work.
