June 2018 Group Read Nominations

The first movie was amazing. The second movie was horrible. 3rd movie was ok. 4th movie was pretty fun.
I would like to nominate Meg by Steve Alten. Read this almost 20 years ago and, considering it's soon to be released as a movie, would be fairly relevent today... :-)
There is a series about spiders The Hatching. The last part was released this month. So if you are interested, you gotta read from the start. The book reads like a trashy horror novel - lot's of talk and nasty deaths.
At least, it's entertaining.
PAUL wrote: "Thanks Char. Looking forwards to seeing what we go with in June now then..! :-D"Nominations will stay open for a few more days, and then I will email with links to the official polls. :)

The first one is Skitter. Would you like to nominate it, Maksim?
I think I'm going to cast my lot with The Jersey Devil and The Darkest Part of the Woods does not fall under cryptids or creature feature. sorry.

I didn't think that one did, either--from what I remember it's not about creatures of any kind...

For Creature Feature, I'll third/fourth/whatever one more vote for The Rats by James Herbert. It will give me an incentive to jump the book to the top of my TBR pile. And for Cryptids, I'm not totally sure if it will qualify but I can't believe that Clickers by J.F. Gonzalez hasn't been mentioned yet. With four sequels (counting the newly released Clickers Forever tribute), it's a great series to read.

The first one is
. Skitter is Part 2. Sure I would love to nominate it. I suggest getting a box-set.

I'll also vote for Clickers by J,F, Gonzalez.
And The Rats by James Herbert.
And The Boy on the Beach by David Brian, which I've just picked up for free on Amazon.

Oops, you're right! I've noted The Hatching as your nomination. This is for a group read, so if someone wants to buy the boxed set, that's fine, but this group read is just for the first book.
I think with this many nominations we’re going to need a second round of voting for anything that’s been seconded to get the number down to something reasonable.
I think I'm going to do two polls, one for cryptids and one for creature features. (Then another for the group listen.)I like to have a lot of options for us to choose from. :)

I know, there were several more mentioned that I have and would eagerly read (or re-read)! I think I'll be joining in for BOTH reads next month.

I'll second the Cellar. I've had this on my TBR for a while now.
I don't know how I will choose either, but i'm so excited for next month, with whatever gets chosen!

It looks pretty fun! :)
These all look like a lot of fun!"
I'll second this one - it has an audio version, and looks like a blast!
Latasha wrote: "Aghhhh! Evil devil beast!"I must agree. And my husband constantly wants to just put them outside, as if they won't come back in! Evil devil things.
I like to be scared in books but at the same time I fear a horror book about spiders will give me horrible nightmares so i'm not sure if i'm brave enough for a horror spider book. Anything else i'm game.
Spiders...i'll probably read it anyway because apparently I have no respect for sleep and dreams.
Why, why must spiders be a thing?
AAAAHHHH! I'm soooo excited about this. I love love LOVE a scary creature, particularly of the cryptid variety. I'm currently reading Pressure by Brian Keene
and it's super-fun so it's my nomination for Cryptids.
Can't wait to see what others people come up with.

I'm severely arachnophobic, but I really enjoyed The Hatching series. As well as Sarah Pinborough's Feeding Ground and Breeding Ground. Big ass spiders creep me out, but for some reason I'm drawn to the books....

I kinda want to check out the books but also, terrified to do so. I know one day i'll crack and check them out, I like being scared, generally speaking, but spiders >.< eeeeee. Maybe it's worse because they are constantly being found in my house, I live in the woods basically so spiders be everywhere.
Latasha wrote: "Well y’all have fun. I’m not that curious 😝"Ditto Latasha, it's a big NOPE from me on the arachnids...
Latasha wrote: "Well y’all have fun. I’m not that curious 😝"Lol :p I'm too much of a curious cat and with inadequate respect for sleep and nightmares
I don't have a nomination, but I might join in this one.I've been a member long enough, I suppose it's time. : )

Lol I have trouble sleeping so I take medicine to help me sleep, so hopefully it'll be enough to get to me sleep lol, if so though the medicine won't stop the nightmares O_O
I'm an Aquarius, we're a weird bunch :p
Latasha wrote: "I have to take sleeping meds too. I've known quiet a few Aquarius and liked them very much!"^_^
