I'm right at the beginning of the book but this has me very intrigued for the ending lol.

First quarter - (view spoiler)[I love a summer camp setting and am looking forward to Em's return, as well as more segments set fifteen years ago. She's clearly still haunted by the girls' disappearance as they are still all she can paint. What is she hiding, from herself and the reader?? (hide spoiler)]

Second quarter - (view spoiler)[So, Em was diagnosed with schizophreniform after her first time at camp, prompting a camera to be installed outside her bunk upon her return. It didn't stop someone putting three birds in her bunk or spying on her in the shower though.

Vivian's diary entries make her seem softer than she appeared in Em's memories and the opinions of others. They also revealed she was searching for something before she disappeared. (hide spoiler)]

Third quarter - (view spoiler)[Becca and Vivian were friends before her sister's death, when she befriended Katherine's friends instead, who were a year older than her. Did she blame them for her death and enact some sort of revenge??

Poor little Em was crushed at finding Vivian and Theo together. It caused it her to lock the three girls out of the bunk, after they snuck out at night. She totally isn't to blame for their disappearances though.

Her three campers have disappeared in the present just like in the past. What is going on?? (hide spoiler)]

Fourth quarter - (view spoiler)[Oh, damn! Em never saw Vivian with Theo but with BEN!!

I thought, until the epilogue, that Vivian's interest in Charles Cutler and a historical asylum was to misdirect the reader. Chet was responsible for the three modern-day campers going missing but Vivain was responsible for the deaths of her sister's friends. Her fake drowning in the lake wasn't to attract Theo's attentions but to see if her sister's friends would fail to save her, just like they did to her sister. (hide spoiler)]
