I'm not gonna put spoilers, but I didn't really think I would be that emotional about it, since I know what happens and wasn't too closely attached. That couldn't be further from the truth D:

I remember being so upset when I first read that book. I think it wasn’t until then that I realized there was a lot of darkness in the series! (Counteracted by a lot of good, but still)

I hope so. I feel so bad for the whole team. They keep announcing books during what is the middle of the night for what is I believe a good chunk of our team . . . so they just keep scoring before anyone can stop them! Sadness. Wow we're now into June which means we are 2 months away from completion.

Useful Statistics
121 books read - putting us 12th in O.W.L.S (no. books read)
5718 points - putting us 2nd in N.E.W.T (no. points earned)

Keep reading those books and posting what you've read. As long as it's 100 pages or more it counts.

Andrea and Hannah can you post whether you have completed any books, currently showing as nil on the spreadsheet. Want to make sure I haven't missed anything.

A quick note to all can you make sure your posting page numbers with books, this lets us verify the correct edition. Also for Spellout please let us know the name of the character not just their initial. 😉

Quidditch is well underway, thank you Snowtulip for stepping in to aid a fallen comrade. Don't forget all books read for quidditch gain us page points. Anyone wishing to volunteer for the next match please let us know. I promise it's not as confusing as it seems.

BOM Points
Children of Blood and Bone this has now enddd, if you are still reading this we can only claim page points. If you have finished and haven't yet posted pleas do so.

We'd like you to check in once a week to let us know that all is well, if only to say hi.
• What are you looking forward to over the next week?
• What is your current read?
• Is there anything you would like us to do to make things easier?

message 337: by Kaley (new)

Kaley (kaleyamo) | 1976 comments I could do this one for Boom Berry Juice for Potions:
Strawberry Shortcake Murder (A Hannah Swensen Mystery) by Joanne Fluke

If it could count? I remember hearing something before about “strawberries aren’t real berries” but I think that’s just semantics?

If not it should be able to count as a pink cover.

message 338: by Kaley (new)

Kaley (kaleyamo) | 1976 comments • What are you looking forward to over the next week?
Continuing to cheer on Slytherin in the Quidditch match!

• What is your current read?
I just finished the book I was working on last night, so I’m considering what to start today. I’m going to be reading The Perfect Mother starting on Wednesday because that’s when the Buddy Read starts. I’ll probably read Strawberry Shortcake Murder if it’ll work for Potions. I’ll pick up something else as an audiobook as well, but I’m not sure what yet. I’ll probably go through what else is needed for classes and see if I can find something to fit, then decide — because I probably won’t start that one till tomorrow anyway.

• Is there anything you would like us to do to make things easier?
Nope, I think things are going well!

Also, if we need people for the next Quidditch match, I can help, but I’m nervous — I’m not the fastest reader unless I’m REALLY really hooked. It helps that it’s my *slow season* at work so I can usually listen to audiobooks at work, but that’s still slower than traditional reading. And that would depend on whether my library has the e-audio available as well. So I wouldn’t wanna be dragging the team behind! But of all the positions I feel like I’d be most comfortable with Keeper. Or Chaser, since it’s less limited in what to choose to read (like beaters are), but I don’t think I’m fast enough for that one!

I'll slot this one in for boom berry juice for now.
Keeper is a good strategic position, so if you're not comfortable with the speed of a chaser this is probably the right position to play, that or seeker.

Samantha (missymaysreadingnook) | 808 comments I’m still planning on reading Devils Star for Astronomy. I’m hoping to get through the previous books in the series first (Redbreast and Nemesis), but I can skip to Devils Star if needed 😊

I’m looking forward to a few this this week. Today is my birthday!! So excited for that 😊 On Tuesday, I’m going to see A Quiet Place (again) with some friends who haven’t seen it yet. And on Saturday, some of my coworkers are throwing a little get-together for my birthday 😊

I’m currently reading Homecoming by R.A. Salvatore and The Passage by Justin Cronin. If I still to my timeline, I should have Homecoming finished on Thursday. The Passage is a slooooooow read (1.5 pages/min compared to my normal .7-1 page/min) but is really good. Bookly says it’s going to take me 14 hours to finish, so it’s gonna be a while for that one. Planning on picking up the 5th HP book this coming weekend 😊

Oathbringer (The Stormlight Archive, #3) by Brandon Sanderson - I keep getting distracted, but I love this series!

Leah on the Offbeat (Creekwood, #2) by Becky Albertalli - I'm next in line at the library, but I've been looking forward to reading this.

• What is your current read?

Find Her (Detective D.D. Warren, #8) by Lisa Gardner - reading this in between Quidditch, it just took a turn and now I need to find out what happens!

The Girl Who Smiled Beads A Story of War and What Comes After by Clemantine Wamariya - it's due back to the library tomorrow, so I need to make this work.

• Is there anything you would like us to do to make things easier?
You're doing absolutely great!
