I finished the book for "Read a book tagged at least 10 times as “relax” or “calm” (variations are allowed)" and posted it but it has not been marked off yet. Post #589

I will have the Treasure book complete in another day or so. Other one I have on my TRB list are
Read a book with a white cover
Read a book where one of the main characters dies
Read a book multiple people die

I have a copy of the list I take to work with me, if there are any books we are having difficulty finding I can probably get it

Teresa (teresab78) | 1658 comments The book I just posted, Slow Ride, could also be used for multiple people died...

Kaley (kaleyamo) | 1976 comments Checking in!

Started Lock and Key yesterday for book with a key on the cover:
Lock and Key by Sarah Dessen

I'm going to be traveling out-of-state tomorrow through Monday for a cousin's wedding. I should be able to read some (on the plane and such) but not as much as usual since I'll be with a lot of family that I don't get to see very often.

I'll look at our remaining tasks and see what else I can get that fits other tasks / see what I can find with E/I/O/U letters.

I'm working my way through Alias Grace right now. I'm enjoying it, but it's slow going. My F2F book club meets on Friday night, so I have to put that aside for now to finish the book for that meeting - Rules of Civility.

I have off on Friday, so I'm hoping to get a ton of reading done during the day. We'll be away for the weekend for a wedding, so that will be the last chance I have to read before Sunday night.

Snowtulip | 4679 comments Hhmm..do you think this would work for swimming?

The Girl in the Moss (Angie Pallorino, #3) by Loreth Anne White

message 806: by Karolyn (new)

Karolyn | 1041 comments Happy Friday! I'm going to finish The Devil in the White City: Murder, Magic, and Madness at the Fair That Changed America today. Then I'll figure out what I have to help with the challenges.

In other news, our first of two foreign exchange students arrived last night (hubby and I host high school students from other countries every year). We're really excited she's finally here, but it will cut into my reading time., especially till classes start next week!

message 807: by Karolyn (last edited Aug 10, 2018 04:42PM) (new)

Karolyn | 1041 comments I need an opinion if these two books will work for two of the tasks...

The Book of Lies by Brad Meltzer will this work for "Read a Book with a Snake on the cover or in the title"? The S is lies is styalized as a snake.

The Woodcutter by Reginald Hill For a book with an eerie/scary cover

message 808: by Karolyn (new)

Karolyn | 1041 comments I'm going to claim these TWT tasks as well as the two books in my last post if we think they fit the descriptions.

Prisoner of Azkabon
Task 1 - Book with Night in the title
Task 5 - Book with Woods on the Cover
Task 5 - Book with Death in the Title

Order of Phonex
Task 2 - Book where the main character is a lawyer
Task 2 - Book where someone goes on trial

If anyone else is working on one of these... let me know and I'll find something else.

We really like the agency we work with and have a lot of support. This year we'll have two girls, our 5th and 6th students. We've only had one with problems... the rest have been great!

Snowtulip | 4679 comments Louise, I just finished this audio, Dane's Storm.

There are no page numbers for kindle, and the Amazon page for this book doesn't have page numbers either, https://smile.amazon.com/Danes-Storm-...

Not sure what we do in situations like this. The audio length is 8 hours and 58 minutes.

Karolyn | 1041 comments SandyC wrote: "I've been out of the loop. Are all the tasks claimed?"

The first group we had to complete to be eligible for any points are all done or claimed, but there are still a bunch left. This is my VERY UNOFFICIAL attempt at tracking what's been spoken for or completed so far (Done = entered in the mod's official completion file and a name means that's who said they were working on it somewhere here). I only made it to help me find some books that would be useful, so hopefully nobody minds me sharing it. Link

There are also a bunch of letters we still need to work on.

M Beal | 1680 comments I finished my last round of tasks and have a pile of books for next week. If no one else is reading for them these are the tasks I am going to claim.

Read a book with a blind character
Read a book with a sword on the cover
Read a book where the characters are under siege
Read a book with brothers
Read a book with 'Silver" in the title

Kaley (kaleyamo) | 1976 comments Snowtulip wrote: "Kaley and Sharon have fun at the weddings...how crazy would it be if it was the same wedding :D"

That would certainly be crazy! The one I attended was in Dallas, TX — and fun fact, LeakyCon (the Harry Potter convention) was also in Dallas this weekend! I wanted to go Friday or today (Sunday) but single day tickets sold before I could get them :’( it was a cruel trick to have the coincidence of Harry Potter convention halfway across the country in Dallas the same weekend I’m going to be there for the first time in 8 years and have tickets sell out in one day!

I’m planning to try to take a good chunk out of our key-on-the-cover book on the plane ride home tomorrow. I have a two hour plane ride and then another two hour car ride so I have some time :) and then I have a three hour drive to get home so if I can get my hands on the audio I should be able to finish it tomorrow — but the library hasn’t had any available copies of the audio as of yet. Fingers crossed!

Form of transportation on the cover
Book with lots of people staying in one home

Hannah (diamond_rebel) | 190 comments I just started Crazy Rich Asians by Kevin Kwan. The cover has a woman with a necklace on. So I can take that task if no one else has claimed it.

Kaley (kaleyamo) | 1976 comments I think all our main Triwizard tasks (the three books/three tasks per book) have been claimed so we are moving on to claiming the rest of the tasks for bonus points, yes? Is there an updated post on all the other books regarding which ones are claimed or not? Didn't see one but just wanted to make sure I'm not missing it!

message 840: by M (new)

M Beal | 1680 comments I am going post all my finished books tomorrow. I did find all the ones I need to claim the reading square task. It was a pain finding all the YA books to match.

message 841: by Sharon (new)

Sharon (sharon_alexandr) | 544 comments I've been looking at the open tasks on the team spreadsheet and then listing any that apply when I post my book on the team completed books thread. Should I continue to do that or do you want me to handle it a different way?

message 842: by M (new)

M Beal | 1680 comments Also I am leaving on holiday the evening of the 28th so I will miss the last few days of the challenge. I will finish as many books as I can before then.
