Karolyn | 1041 comments Happy Sunday everyone! We are having a very hot and humid spell, so I've been inside most of the weekend. I'm reading The Man from Beijing and hope to finish it up tonight. It's a murder-mystery, with plenty of blood... so maybe it would work for Care of Magical Creatures?

message 555: by Teresa (new)

Teresa (teresab78) | 1658 comments Happy Canada Day! I’m reading Guardian Spirit by Jordan L Hawk. I can start Unleasing Love for a U as soon as I’m done.

Samantha (missymaysreadingnook) | 808 comments Hey everyone! Just want to update that I started Firestarter for the Fire-Making spell and I'm almost half-way done with it. Planning to read more of it today. I'm going to start The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo (my green book) probably when I go home to Iowa, so I'll finish that next week. Promise I'll be on top of it! June was just a slow reading month since The Passage was so long and new to me.

Also planning on starting the Fear Street series by RL Stine to get some smaller books in. Maybe those will help with the Feeding for Care of Magical Creatures. I'll keep you updated if it does.

Kaley (kaleyamo) | 1976 comments Checking in! This week I’m focusing on finishing the books I’ve been working on that got delayed for Quidditch.
Three I’m working on for sure:
Strawberry Shortcake Murder (A Hannah Swensen Mystery) by Joanne Fluke Two Girls Down by Louisa Luna Hunting Prince Dracula (Stalking Jack the Ripper, #2) by Kerri Maniscalco

I may pick up more depending on that progress. I do have some vacation days this week (4th of July holiday for US and then taking Thursday and Friday off) but my sister is visiting from out of town so I’m not sure how much I’ll be reading vs visiting with her. We will see!

message 558: by Snowtulip (new)

Snowtulip | 4679 comments Hoping to finish

Other People's Houses by Abbi Waxman

I know there are a few buddy reads I want to participate in, so I"ll need to take another look over there soon :D

message 559: by Hannah (new)

Hannah (diamond_rebel) | 190 comments Hello all,

I'm excited for this week. Besides being a holiday week here, which means more time for reading. At the end of the week we are going to Toronto for vacation.

I'm still making my way through Undead Girl Gang, and Song of Achilles.

message 560: by Fandury (new)

Fandury | 310 comments I had a really lazy weekend with some reading on Saturday and mindless tv on Sunday. Otherwise I just tried to get the cats to find another place to sleep instead of on me, as it was really to hot to have two balls of fur attached to my body.

I read The Memory Chamber by Holly Cave in the moment and then will start probably with the Hobbit.

message 561: by Sharon (new)

Sharon (sharon_alexandr) | 544 comments Hi everyone!

This is a holiday week, but we don't have anything planned so I opted to work this week and save the holiday for another day. It should be quiet, so hopefully I can get some reading done!

I'm finishing Sizzling Sixteen and The Hideaway.

I have The Dinner List, It's Always the Husband, The Lost Girls, and The Hiding Place sitting at home for me waiting to be read.

Probably a good idea, then you can use the time for a less busy day since holidays are always swarming with people :)

Karolyn | 1041 comments Happy Canada Day and Forth of July week to our Canadian and American folks! Am I understanding right that the only spell/class books that aren't spoken for are three U's?

I looked over the Quiddich info and am beyond confused how it works. I won't be working much in July and thought about signing up, but I'm not sure I can follow it! Hopefully the tri-wizard info will be posed soon and make more sense... maybe I can help there.

Yes, it is only 3 'U's we need 🙂

message 567: by Snowtulip (new)

Snowtulip | 4679 comments I’m reading Until July, so that can take care of one “U” :)

message 568: by M (new)

M Beal | 1680 comments Have you ever had that problem? You know the one, where you have 5'000 book and you pass a book sale and decided you can give a few more a good home. Yep. I did it. About 20 books that came home with me. I parked the bag on my table and am off to hunt for shelf space somewhere.

I did pick up a copy of Urban Allies, so that will at least cover a "U"

message 569: by Teresa (new)

Teresa (teresab78) | 1658 comments With my U book (which I’m just starting) I think we have them all covered...

You have to do your part to make sure no books get left behind ;). They'd be lonely :D

message 574: by Teresa (new)

Teresa (teresab78) | 1658 comments There, I Just posted my books and I think we have all the U's we need done :)

Is there anything I should be looking to read or is just anything good?

Louise | 3331 comments Yes, we still get book points.

message 578: by Snowtulip (new)

Snowtulip | 4679 comments I'll only have limited internet access over the next three days, so just a heads up in case Tri Wizard starts...was hoping we'd have info before that.

message 579: by Louise (new)

I'll complete a mini update tonight, I'm off camping for the weekend tomorrow and will be back on Monday. Hoping for Ti-Wizard details before I go🙂

message 581: by Kaley (new)

Kaley (kaleyamo) | 1976 comments So we just post the books now and don’t have to post all the Spell It Out letters right? Or would you still like us to list those?

message 582: by Samantha (new)

Samantha (missymaysreadingnook) | 808 comments You might want to still list spell outs just because we don’t know what the triwizard will hold in store for us. Rather to have too much info and not need it than the alternative :)

I’m traveling today, so I’m not on much, but I should be on tonight and available most of the week :)

We'd like you to check in once a week to let us know that all is well, if only to say hi.
• What are you looking forward to over the next week?
• What is your current read?
• Is there anything you would like us to do to make things easier?

message 586: by Teresa (new)

Teresa (teresab78) | 1658 comments Hello! The rest of this week is fairly quiet, though I do some more travelling this weekend which means audiobook time!

I survived my Birthday last Friday so I am doing good. Currently reading an ARC, Incubus Honeymoon, which is enjoyable.

message 589: by Karolyn (new)

Karolyn | 1041 comments Thanks for the update! I hope everyone is having a good start to their week. I'm open to extending a few weeks... but only I found our captins are up for it. I vote to all our creatures Fluffy...

I'm finishing up the last NF book I'd had on hold at the library for forever. Then I think I'm going to dive into a re-read of the HP series. I haven't re-read them since they first came out, so it should be fun.

message 590: by Sharon (new)

Sharon (sharon_alexandr) | 544 comments I'm also open to extending the challenge. I'm having fun and definitely reading more than I normally would!

Currently reading Kisscut and Life of the Party: Stories of a Perpetual Man-Child. I started The Hiding Place but it's an actual book, so I haven't gotten to read that as much since I haven't really been home (e-books are so convenient!).

I'm looking forward to Thursday night - my husband and I are going to the drive-in! We love going to the movies and this has been a great summer so far for movies coming out.

This weekend, my husband is going to a bachelor party/camping trip on Saturday so I'll probably get together for a fun dinner with girlfriends. Sunday, we are all going to a bridal shower. A jam-packed couple of days, so I'll definitely need to unwind and make time for reading.

message 591: by Kaley (new)

Kaley (kaleyamo) | 1976 comments I'm open to extending the challenge.

Finally picked this back up after taking a little mini vaca from reading after the Quidditch match wiped me out! Hope to have it finished sometime over the weekend.
Strawberry Shortcake Murder (A Hannah Swensen Mystery) by Joanne Fluke

Also picked up this one on audio, which I'll probably have done today or tomorrow:
To All the Boys I've Loved Before (To All the Boys I've Loved Before, #1) by Jenny Han
I'll probably move to this one's sequel on audio next, pending I like how this one turns out -- which I do like so far.
