Do we also still need a cover with a whole crown for mending charm?

And that is probably the best you can do with this book.

I started it some time back, but deleted it from my Kindle after 100 pages...

They are such sweet, cute reads. Plus the characters have very different attitudes than I feel like I have seen in YA books.

We'd like you to check in once a week to let us know that all is well, if only to say hi.
• What are you looking forward to over the next week?
• What is your current read?
• Is there anything you would like us to do to make things easier?

Teresa (teresab78) | 1658 comments Hello everyone!

I'm currently reading To Touch the Sky (Leap of Faith #2) by M.A. Church

I was wondering if Brothers In Arms (Recon Diaries #1) by Kendall McKenna Brothers In Arms would work as zombie defense - as men in arms, or the military is what would help kill a zombie apocalypse... Zombies don't really have a weakness like vampires and such do.

message 459: by Teresa (new)

Teresa (teresab78) | 1658 comments I also have With a Bullet but I need to read the book before it and they are both fairly long for me so it may take a few weeks.

message 460: by M (new)

M Beal | 1680 comments Hello!
I have been reading quite a bit this week. I can cover these ones.
Potions - Pestle & Mortar
I finished it today and posted it

Astronomy - 1 book
In the Eye of the Sun by Ahdaf Soueif

Mending (whole crown)
If you want me to do this one I can. I have one that will fit and will get the max amount of points for pages.
A Clash of Kings (A Song of Ice and Fire, #2) by George R.R. Martin

If there is something else you would like me to read for just tell me

Ghost in the Stacks Just updated my books.

Currently reading The One by John Marrs

With the zombies, that should work. The mods said that the defense against the monster can be creative, just needs to make sense. In every zombie story I'm aware of, men in arms is the only way to take them out.

Just do what you can. We'll just keep communicating like we have been doing. We're at the halfway mark, so it'll be important to keep in mind what reads you have planned and if you're going to have time to finish them by the end of July.

Awesome! I'll get on top of assigning the potions book. If you feel like you can tackle the GoT book in time, I would say go for it. I know those books are really dense, but you've been reading quite a bit :)

message 466: by Samantha (new)

Samantha (missymaysreadingnook) | 808 comments As for me, I had a crappy week at work, but I've been getting some serious reading done.

I'm still reading The Passage, but I have about 250 pages left and feel like I can finish that this week. Also just picked up The Redbreast (which is a re-read for me) because I realized I need to get on my Jo Nesbø books for this challenge to read them in order! lol Since I had a rough week, I just didn't want to pick up HP OotP because Harry is still as annoying as I remembered >.< Once I get through The Passage, I should be able to make more headway in HP.

Not really looking forward to anything this week except reading my books. A lot of the books from my book haul last week are going to fit in our challenges so I'm excited about getting to them all really soon.

I'll do my best to answer any questions you have and will be more present this week since Louise is out. If you notice anything, don't hesitate to ask or let me know! Thanks everyone, you're all amazing! <3

Snowtulip | 4679 comments I'm finishing up Magpie Murders by Anthony Horowitz , Rituals (Cainsville, #5) by Kelley Armstrong (has divination) and Gemina (The Illuminae Files, #2) by Amie Kaufman ; and in the middle of Red Sister (Book of the Ancestor #1) by Mark Lawrence

Then I'll be starting my color books (my reading order changed because of library books):
Hello Stranger (The Ravenels, #4) by Lisa Kleypas
Leah on the Offbeat (Creekwood, #2) by Becky Albertalli

I use transit to commute to work and it is 1.5 hours each way. Plenty of time to read a good book.

message 471: by Kaley (new)

Kaley (kaleyamo) | 1976 comments This week:
Still reading The Perfect Mother by Aimee Molloy & Strawberry Shortcake Murder (A Hannah Swensen Mystery) by Joanne Fluke
Just started re-listening to this, which has an I character. The Longest Ride by Nicholas Sparks

I planned to start Stalking Jack the Ripper (Stalking Jack the Ripper, #1) by Kerri Maniscalco this week too as it is a buddy read I believe starting tomorrow — so I’ll probably start that one once I finish The Perfect Mother — which should be before Tuesday night.

If you're not wanting to, Sandy already read it, so we can use it for Potions and you can read something else. If you still want to read it, that's totally fine as well. We can definitely use a second read of that book for spells. Just let me know so I know where to assign the book Sandy read. Hope that wasn't confusing!

message 480: by Hannah (new)

Hannah (diamond_rebel) | 190 comments This week is looking less stressful so far. However, I usually say that and then something happens so we shall see! I started Undead Girl Gang by Lily Anderson , which the MC is a Wiccan and has mentioned divination techniques in passing so there is a good likelihood that she will use at least one in the book. I am making my way through The Song of Achilles by Madeline Miller as well, but that is much slower. Then I also picked up For We Are Many (Bobiverse, #2) by Dennis E. Taylor for while I'm working or running errands, its on my phone.

message 481: by SandyC (new)

SandyC (sandyc88) | 1193 comments I'm currently reading The Woman in the Window by A.J. Finn and Outlander (Outlander, #1) by Diana Gabaldon . On deck are First Frost (Waverley Family, #2) by Sarah Addison Allen and China Rich Girlfriend (Crazy Rich Asians #2) by Kevin Kwan

message 482: by Fandury (new)

Fandury | 310 comments So, I'm in Vienna for the week. So I will get some reading done, but will not be at the computer much.

My planned reading for the week:

Interview with the Vampire (The Vampire Chronicles, #1) by Anne Rice a re-read, but I read it the last time years ago, and I probably remember more of the film than of the book.

I will try again this week to finally read Final Girls by Riley Sager and then also will hopefully manage to read American Eve Evelyn Nesbit, Stanford White, the Birth of the "It" Girl and the Crime of the Century by Paula Uruburu , as I need urgently a U for a spell-out.

message 483: by Samantha (new)

Samantha (missymaysreadingnook) | 808 comments Thanks Abbie!

Looking good everyone :) thanks for checking in! I’ve been putting in a lot of books for spell outs and we desperately need Os and Is ( I think we need 9 Os and 10 Is). So if you notice a character when am I name, make sure to list it :)

But... it might take me a few days to get my shelf set up and post the books I've read since TT started.

I'll work I'm adding these to the books read thread soon, I'll need to go back to check character names for letters we need. By dumb luck... I do have two books that start with "I" read! I'm starting Lincoln in the Bardo tomorrow.

Samantha (missymaysreadingnook) | 808 comments Sounds good Karolyn :) I’m not sure what you’re able to see on the google spreadsheet (it’s in one of the first posts on the first page of this thread), but you should be able to see what is needed for letters. We need a lot of vowels, especially I, O, and U, so keep an eye out for those specific letters when you’re going back through your books :) Welcome again to the team!
