LaurLa | 2378 comments V Nerd wrote: "Do narrators count this time for audiobooks?"

Here are the official rules, V-Nerd:

RULES
For each letter read books with
titles,
series names,
authors (first or last names)
main or secondary characters (first or last names, and also nicknames)

PROCLAMATION: Spells
For the letters X, Y and V, you can also use translators names and or audion narrator names, providing the edition you are reading allows for it.

Meaning, you'll have to read the translated version to use translator's name or listening to the audio version to use the narrator's name.

Alright! 3 hours to go before the challenge starts!!

THIS THREAD is where you will post all your completion posts of the books you've read for Tower Teams.

When you post your completion posts, please add the following info:

The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*ck A Counterintuitive Approach to Living a Good Life by Mark Manson

Then moving onto
Hell & High Water (THIRDS, #1) by Charlie Cochet

Hope you had sweet dreams, V! With nice voices floating around in your head hehe.

Sunshine, the title of the first one sounds awesome haha. The second is pretty good. I never continued with the series, so far, but I liked the idea of the story. Hope you enjoy both!

I'm going to read a few more pages in Dead Witch Walking this morning because it's really good at the moment, and then I'll switch to my first TT read for the rest of the day, which will be: Shattered - book #7 in the Iron Druid Chronicles. (I also need it for SoS Bingo. I'm behind!)

message 118: by LaurLa (new)

LaurLa | 2378 comments My first will be Three to Get Deadly - this is a reread of the Stephanie Plum series for me. I'm having slightly different reactions this time around. Some good, some not as good.

message 119: by Eldarwen (new)

Eldarwen | 13645 comments Mod
I've been considering doing a reread of the first ones in that series, but I'm not sure I'd still enjoy it.

I actually started doing a reread of HP#1 instead of reading my Iron Druid book, oops. So much for plans ;-) But I just kind of slipped into it while pondering whether I should or not and now I'm already 30% through it.

kat (wanderfulbooks) (wanderfulbooks) | 2329 comments I'll be doing the HP rereads in audiobook and join sometime this end of May.

I just finished my first book a while ago (it was a fun read!). I will post completion maybe tomorrow. I started Faithful Place and Children of Blood and Bone. I only read Tana French during daytime because they're eerie in a way. I love her books and hate her characters. And then when I get halfway, I read fun contemporaries, mostly romance to balance it out.

I've never read a Stephanie Plum book, it's sort of the same reason why I'm wary of the In Death series. I don't know if I can commit! Haha!

message 121: by Eldarwen (new)

Eldarwen | 13645 comments Mod
It took me a long time to finally give in and start the In Death series and so far I haven't regretted it! I like the characters and the crime aspect of them, as well as the setting.

Sounds like an odd series to read if you don't like French's characters. I think that would make it hard for me to stick with a series.

I have The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*ck: A Counterintuitive Approach to Living a Good Life on hold. I'm interested to see what you think about it. I am 135 on the holds list for this book. I have a feeling I won't be getting it during this challenge. I'm still interested to know if you think it is worth reading.

Sounds weird right? I really love her books. I love the way she writes, but her characters are all Fishy. Aaaand they all make me want to bash their heads. Do you read her books?

message 125: by Annalisa (last edited May 12, 2018 09:41AM) (new)

Annalisa | 1573 comments I finished up one of the four books I'm currently reading/listening to last night. Lady of Light and Shadows was the longest book I'm reading so having it finished is good. I am still reading Shadowsong and listening to Being Mortal: Medicine and What Matters in the End and Still Me (this one I'm listening to in my car and I want to finish it up before I have to return it to the library.) I work on finishing up the Shadowsong and Being Mortal slowly as I read for TT.

I'm going to start reading A Hope Divided later today. It should be a quick read.

Do we have anything besides the BOM that have a date they need to be finished by? If not I'm going to focus on clearing out the books I started and didn't finish during UNO. I don't think I'll be getting either of the May books. I am 41 on the list for Lilac Girls and 58 for Children of Blood and Bone.

I live in North Carolina, USA. It isn't very often I come across a hold list that long. I'm guessing the next George R.R. Martin book will have longer holds.

message 127: by Eldarwen (new)

Eldarwen | 13645 comments Mod
The only other thing that has dates are the Buddy Reads, but those you decide on yourself with the people you're reading the books, or you jump in whenever you have the book or feel like reading it.

Quidditch will be timed and will have deadlines, but that isn't starting yet.

Other than BOM, you're basically free to read whatever you want, whenever you want. And I can understand wanting to clear away some of the books you have started already! Keep in mind though that they do not count for TT, so don't accidentally post completion posts for them ;-)

Does sound weird, yes!
But no, I don't read her. I tried reading the first few pages of Dublin Murder Squad at some point but never got far and never went back to the book. It just didn't hold my interest, so I don't think I'll try again.

Oh, today is Eurovision Song Contest! I completely forgot about that. Just stumbled across the count down on tv - and nothing else on. So I guess I'll be reading until that starts and then some more while I try not to hear the crappy songs hahaha ;-)

So I will finish HP#1 today. Not sure I'll continue with the other ones though. Feeling myself getting bored with the story now that I'm nearing the end of the book.

Anyway, anyone else watching Eurovision? V??

message 139: by ❀Tea❀ (new)

❀Tea❀ (ttea) | 9624 comments So it was someone running/yelling on the stage? I wasn't sure. I have it on in another tab, mostly listening.
I did notice that host 'in green room' was little improvising and they had unplanned break

But I do like UK song. I think I've even heard it on radio today. Which is quite unusual. :)

message 140: by V_Nerdbooks (new)

V_Nerdbooks | 5079 comments i haven't heard any of the songs this year, even ours so i was looking forward to hearing it for the first time, and then realised that it had been played on the radio loads and i knew it lol

Yes apparently an anti Brexiter, teied to grab the mic from her, our host justvsaid she has been offered to sing it again but she has said that she doesn't want to

Sunshine (sunshine22222) | 804 comments @ Annalise

It was recommended to me, too. For me, I really don’t like self-help books. Nothing against the writers. I just don’t like someone telling me how to think and respond to thinks. It may be good for someone starting their career, but not for me.

I just finished it today. 3 stars

Will post later

Hahaha!
At least you managed to get your hands on a tv ;-)

Not sure what to make of this year, but I don't like most of the songs - as per usual though.

It was a shame for the UK Singer, but she handled it all pretty well, so kudos to her!

Also, I did not know that Daniela Ruha was Portuguese! I only know her from Navy CIS: LA, so that was quite cool. She has very distinctive eyes so she was immediately recognisable.
