I can quote where a character says it's the easiest way to kill a troll. I'll post tomorrow when I get home, I forgot my Kindle yesterday.

But you might also discover something new you'd really enjoy, so there's that, too :-)

(In reference to the seeker - forgot to reply to comment, sorry.)

Michelle,

Thanks for the completion posts!

Can you put the books on your TT shelf, please? Thanks!

ETA: Oh, and could you please expand on the prophecy/vision thing in your books? Does a character use divination tools by any chance?

I remember that, too, but can't remember who said it o.O
At least it makes me glad that I'm not the only one to remember the odd snippet of conversation even if I have no idea where from haha.

kat (wanderfulbooks) (wanderfulbooks) | 2329 comments I think it was Karen or Cat? And "she" said if someone was interested?

The Seeker can read any book 300p+ played (successfully) by either team in their match.

Hufflepuff have been revving to go for a while....
I think Gryff have found their's too now.

By the way guys, we're slooowly starting to plan for the next Quidditch match - meaning, we're beginning to see who would like to play in the second round - so if you're interested, please head over to the dungeon and sign up with whatever position you'd like to play :-)

Thanks!

kat (wanderfulbooks) (wanderfulbooks) | 2329 comments Is the dungeon for players only or for everyone?

kat (wanderfulbooks) (wanderfulbooks) | 2329 comments Is it better to get Amazon Prime over Kindle Unlimited?

Most probably E. Because I only made a quick peek every now and then and the internet wasn't that reliable too.

LaurLa | 2378 comments Kathleen wrote: "Is it better to get Amazon Prime over Kindle Unlimited?"

Prime doesn't offer books but you get other benefits like free shipping or reduced faster shipping, music, streaming, etc. I don't have KU... I don't know that I would use it enough to justify the monthly cost. And me personally.... I hate the idea that I'm paying to borrow a book. I want to pay for it, own it and keep it. But's that me. I also don't do library books for the same reason (and because I'm terribly forgetful and rack up the fines!)

ETA: Having said that, I may go for the 30 day free trial if I end up being on the next quidditch team...

kat (wanderfulbooks) (wanderfulbooks) | 2329 comments I thought Prime lets you read unlimited books. Ah well. I guess I should just get the 30 day free trial too if I play Quidditch.

message 828: by Stacie (new)

Stacie (thesebooksaremyfriends) So if you have Amazon prime (the one you get for shipping), I believe you can check out one free book a month. There was something called prime reading but a) I'm not sure if it still exists and b) it was not that great. Then there's Kindle unlimited which lets you have ten books out at a time for as long as you want. Read them, return them, done. Some of them come with audio. I've been an unlimited member for years and while sometimes the books are awful, between it and the libraries, my spending on books has gone waaaay down.

LaurLa | 2378 comments Kathleen wrote: "I thought Prime lets you read unlimited books. Ah well. I guess I should just get the 30 day free trial too if I play Quidditch."

Ah... something I didn't know! There is Prime Reading. But it looks like the selections are somewhat limited. I read romance and there are only 109 books in the romance category and only a handful of authors I know. Not that I know them all of course, just saying I only recognized a handful of the names.

I wouldn't say that I would pay the price for Prime just for the reading. But I do pay for the cost for the other benefits and the fact that I can maybe read some books for free is just an added benefit. For me, the free shipping pays for itself pretty quickly because I order tons of stuff from Amazon. I do the subscribe and save on lots of household items, so free shipping on those items definitely pays for the cost of Prime for me.

I never looked into KU because I don't even have a kindle (I just read some of the free kindle books via the cloudreader on the browser), but for some reason I thought it meant paying a monthly fee and getting books for free, not borrowing hahaha. What a silly thought really ;-))

It's a monthly fee of $9.99... so not free at all. You don't own the books (as I understand it), you return them after you've read them. I'm not sure how many you can have at a time, though. And the selection is somewhat limited. I've heard good and bad things about it.

You can have 10 at a time.

LaurLa | 2378 comments Are you creative? Have long dreamt of being a writer? Have you ever played Madlibs and wanted to make up one of your own?

Now's your chance! We're looking for someone willing to be brave and write our History of Magic essay. It could be wacky, fun and crazy or weird, dark and sinister or sweet, warm and cozy! Whatever you want. You just have to use 7 titles from our list of completed books.

We are seeking a volunteer to take on this awesome responsibility. You will have the pick of ALL the books in our completed list, except those marked QUIDDITCH, for obvious reassons. But any other book is fair game. If you really really really want to use a book already marked for a spell or class, do it. We will have plenty of other options to backfill! So have at it! Create our history out of the history of our books!

Who will do it? If we have more than one volunteer, we'll go with whoever spoke up first. But be ready to help out if our fearless writer wants a little inspirational help :-)

LaurLa | 2378 comments Soooooo, speaking of spells... We've have completed the words for Unforgivable Curses - this was the 10 point per letter set of spells. If gave us a little boost in poinst, to the tune of 350 :-D

I have started on the 5 point per letter set: Obscure Spells. We've completed all the letters but 4. We have plenty of books, no fear we won't finish those, but the letters left are R and U... if anyone feels inclined to read for them.

The last set of Spells, 2 points per letter but the most numerous altogether worth 280 points plus 70 completions points, has lots and lots of tricky to find vowels. So start keeping these letters in mind as you read or look for things to read:

A 11
E 10
I 14
N 7
O 16
P 7
R 9
T 10
U 10

Happy Reading!!!

Would you Dare to Resist a Lover Reborn like a Big Bad Wolf When Darkness Comes?

(Just/Why don't you/Or would you) Come As You Are and claim A Kiss at Midnight?

Option 1
I only borrowed one used book, I couldn't resist the Dear Emily! All others haven't been placed in classes or spells yet.

If you didn't like this, I can come up with more!

message 849: by Annalisa (new)

Annalisa | 1573 comments Hmm I might be interested in Rosemary and Rue. I've been enjoying the author a lot. However, urban fantasy and I don't really connect. Also, I think I may have over committed. I'll take a look at all the books I have signed up to read when I get home.

Is it helpful for me to post my current, upcoming, and maybe reads?

message 850: by Annalisa (new)

Annalisa | 1573 comments Actually it's the third books hat interests me most. However, I don't think I'll be able to get a copy in the time frame required.
