kat (wanderfulbooks) (wanderfulbooks) | 2329 comments I've also read all Julie Garwood historicals. And for some reason, the title that I remember most is Ransom.

I enjoyed her first few forrays into suspense romanc and then it fizzled

Hahah, Natasha, you're right. We're being overrun with stars for astronomy ;-)

Keeping it on the reserve list for now to see what else we might come up with to diversify our astronomy class a little, otherwise we'll really end up with only stars. Not terrible, just boring :-)

Natasha | 1140 comments I don't have a favorite romance author (I have very few favorite authors in general), but I do enjoy Eloisa James. I really have to read more of it.

Also, for the astronomy class, I read a lot of books about space so I'm sure I can find something that doesn't have star in the title.

Cathy M. (mccathy77) | 5976 comments Hi new teamies :) So happy to see some familiar faces along with a lot of new ones. Glad to be playing with all of you!

I've tried reading up on all the classes & stuff but admit it's a little overwhelming there's so much going on! Promise to get caught up this weekend on everything, including all the posts, but is there a planning sheet or just look at the beginning posts to see what is open/needs to be filled?

I've already added my books to my shelf from the start of the challenge: TT6. Let me know if I need to give you anything else!

Oh wow, did not realise we'd get new team members. How cool.

Welcome to Team Severus Snape, ladies! :-)

For some quick quick extra points for the team, you can jump right into participating in THIS Harry Potter survey. There are not quite 3 hours left to do so :-) (It's been open for a while already, so not much time left.)

Also, please link your TT shelves and read through the rules.

Important links are all on the first page.

If you have questions, feel free to ask the team captains! :-)

ETA: Would you like to play Quidditch?? If so, please let us know which position or if you'd rather be a spectator! :-)

Hey hey Cathy :-)

Thanks for the link!

Could I ask you to please - I know this will be tedious - add completion posts for all those books to our Books Read Thread?

It'll be a lot of work, I know, and you don't have to do them all right away, but it would be nice to have all the information for characters and classes in one spot. Thanks!

message 611: by Eldarwen (new)

Eldarwen | 13646 comments Mod
Oh, and no, we do not have a planning spreadsheet, but the Classes sheet and the posts on the first page are up to date.

Ah cool! Sounds like we can expand a little on the stars then haha :-))

Besides, there really is no rush to use the first books on everything. We do have another 2 months to go after all and can always switch books around.

No worries, I'll do it this weekend. Have to look up all the different classes and stuff to see where they would fit. And need to go back and see if I can remember all the character names!

message 615: by Eldarwen (new)

Eldarwen | 13646 comments Mod
Thanks!

And yeah, take your time! It can be a little time consuming for some books to list everything because they actually fit a lot of different classes but it's nice to have options.

LaurLa | 2378 comments Welcome new teamies! Hope you have fun on this Tower ride!!!

I'm helping Elderwan with captain duties (no one is better than her, btw) and will be working on the Spells (Spell-outs). To make things easier for your past post completions, unless a Secondary Character has an unusual first initial (like O, U or X or Z, etc), you can simply just list the Main Characters along with Title/Author/Series info.

QUIDDITCH

Dungeon invites are probably going to appear soon so please keep an eye out for group invites from the moderators of NBRC or team captains!

Quidditch itself, the first match, will start on May 29th.

For those who haven't done so yet, please look over the roles again and see which position you might like to play - together not only with your team mates but with your house mates.

There will be 3 matches, so you can play in either of those. Or none, if you so wish. Lots of cheering action will be required in that case :-)

kat (wanderfulbooks) (wanderfulbooks) | 2329 comments I shall have to figure out how to do gifs on mobile then!!

kat (wanderfulbooks) (wanderfulbooks) | 2329 comments E, I finished Circe. Can it be used for divination? MC uses body of water, adds some flowers sometimes to look into future. Well, she's a nymph and a witch.

message 625: by Eldarwen (new)

Eldarwen | 13646 comments Mod
Hmm, sounds like it might work.

Is it always the same body of water or does any body of water work?

Put it in the completion post one way or another, I'll discuss with LaurLa :-)

kat (wanderfulbooks) (wanderfulbooks) | 2329 comments Any can do I guess as it was mentioned she inherited some of her prophetic abilities from her Titan/Olympian relations but she's got a favorite spot to do it.

Okay, will do!

Sounds good!
And we both think that a body of water is acceptable as a divination tool :-)

So we got one covered, yay!

Sunshine,

For Locked In Silence, the book you shelved has 268 pages, but you wrote 284 in the completion post. Did you maybe read a different edition? If so, could you shelve the correct one please?

Thanks!

Cathy,

Could you please add Tangle of Need and Every Heart a Doorway to your shelves? Also, did you, by any chance, join the BR thread for the latter? If so, links please :-)

Thanks!

Stopped to eat lunch but have now added!

I did technically post on the BR thread but joined a little too late so not really discussed with anyone on another team so didn't post the links...

Sorry I've been a bad mod and hadn't gone back to the thread this week. I've done that now, plus someone else has now started the book so with all that chatter you should be able to jump on in and claim some points ;)
Now I need to start Down Among the Sticks and Bones :o

kat (wanderfulbooks) (wanderfulbooks) | 2329 comments There's a BR request for some romance books in the thread. I think one of you ladies was bemoaning the lack of it?

Is there a different thread where we can 'watch' the game?

Btw, what's the prize for the winning House? Bonus book points, immortality or riches?;)

Eternal glory in the Halls of Fame of NBRC?! ;-)

Winning house - i.e. Seeker catching the snitch - will gain around 150 points.

kat (wanderfulbooks) (wanderfulbooks) | 2329 comments 150 pts each team under the winning House or...?

Sounds exciting! Will be lots of fun to watch! Or read.

message 649: by kat (wanderfulbooks) (last edited May 29, 2018 01:04AM) (new)

kat (wanderfulbooks) (wanderfulbooks) | 2329 comments NBRC should put up a Hall of Fame thread where they list every years winning team of their challenges...

So that when they put up trivia questions we'll have a cheat s heet lol

message 650: by Eldarwen (new)

Eldarwen | 13646 comments Mod
Nope, house points.

Team points under a specific house are tallied to get the average points one way or another. So if Slytherin wins a match, the points go towards the house, in the broad sense of the term (i.e. not every team).
