kat (wanderfulbooks) (wanderfulbooks) | 2329 comments *sigh* I just want a fancy tail.

Okay, is this a stretch? Theres a flying creature, fiery flying creaturr on the cover. Can we have that for tail?

It would be a very lovely tail!

The thing is though that it isn't clearly definable. On the small image, it looks like a sort of bird (maybe even phoenix) but on the larger cover it just looks like fancy decoration.

Hahaha, I actually went back and enlarged the cover to have a look. I'm not sure on the eagle thing, though huge bird and huge wings could cut it, but definitely not an owl.

Because at the end of the 2nd book they were off to search for the Firebird. So am assuming that flying creature in the cover is supposed to be a firebird

Eldarwen | 13645 comments Mod
Firebird is such a fancy word for phoenix... ;-)

But sure, if it actually has a definition and name in the book, then I think we could probably use it!

kat (wanderfulbooks) (wanderfulbooks) | 2329 comments Well, that's what they call it. Have you read this series? I think I'll belong in the minority again with this one. I'm glad I read Six of Crows first because I adored that duology. Because if I have read this series first, I may not have picked up Six of Crows.

On a happier note, I can't wait for you guys to get to Kate Daniels #9! Fun surprise!

message 558: by Eldarwen (new)

Eldarwen | 13645 comments Mod
No, haven't read either of those series. I've been eyeing it but I'm not sure I want to pick it up though I saw a nice little box set of the trilogy that is starting to call my name ;-)

What about #9?? I've read it :-)

Did I ever mention how much I love Roman? He's awesome.

kat (wanderfulbooks) (wanderfulbooks) | 2329 comments Maybe read the duology and skip the trilogy? But that's just me lol. A lot of.people did love the trilogy.

About 9! Christopher, I knew there must be a reason why we still have him around but this! This be awesome. And Aunt Erra's timing, always on the dot. She certainly knows how to make her entrances. Shes fun, so glad to see a different side to her. I cant believe this is going to be over soon. Maybe a spinoff with Derek or a Hidden Legacy spin off? Ill take anything

kat (wanderfulbooks) (wanderfulbooks) | 2329 comments Oh, and Roman.... best wedding planner ever haha!

Attention Attention

A little fun game to earn some extra points for the team, brought to you by the mods.

Have fun :-)

LaurLa | 2378 comments Well, buggers! I've never read the series or seen the movies (don't start!). Could I pick random characters and give my reason as I liked the sound of their name? Of course, I'd pick Severus Snape for obvious reasons...

kat (wanderfulbooks) (wanderfulbooks) | 2329 comments I'd love to know the reasons why you picked tje names!

Yes, tomorrow is supposed to be the start date, and so far I haven't heard anything to the contrary.

The thing is, houses are supposed to have a private group where all the house teams get together to organise amongst themselves who is going to play Quidditch since it's going to be houses against houses.

I was waiting for that to go up so we could decide together but... yeah, you're probably right, we should get things a little organised now already.

ETA: It may start a little late, and we will get time to plan one way or another. Still, always good to be prepared! :-)

Let's play QUIDDITCH - Rules

Alright, ladies and gent!!

Quidditch time is almost upon us!

Please read through the rules again, check what each role (chaser, beater, keeper, seeker) entails and then please report back with what kind of role you would like to play.

Please bear in mind that this will be houses against houses. What does this mean? It means that all Slytherin teams are going to join together to form ONE Quidditch team to go up against the other houses.

There will be three rounds. Each round lasts approximately for 2 weeks or until the snitch has been caught.

You do not need to play every round. You can also just play one round. You can also decide not to play at all.

Whichever you decide, PLEASE GIVE A SHOUT, so we know what kind of participation we can expect from team Severus Snape in the overall Quidditch teams we'll put together.

Thank you!

Ah, yes, that is the case. Books may only be started after the referee gives the go-ahead.

message 583: by Annalisa (new)

Annalisa | 1573 comments So I think I maybe understand the roles, but then again I'm not really sure. I'm impatient and didn't wait until I got home. That's what my lunch break is for right?

It seems like reading at speed will be important for this. I don't think that is me. Also, having to get books from the library would put me at a disadvantage. If another team member needs to volunteer for something I can try and fill in.

I do have a long weekend and should finish up at least 2 of my current reads today. That gets me down to 4 books. I don't mind reading multiple books at a time but I'd really like to finish a few and not start new ones. However, next weekend I doubt I'll be reading much. I have a big project around the house. Reprinting bedroom and finishing up trim paint. I started last fall, so I'm not putting it off again.

Speed reading may be involved for this, yes. But then again, not everyone on every team is a speedy reader, so there might be a healthy mix of both.

But don't worry, if you don't feel up for doing Quidditch in the first round due to a million started books (I know the feeling... *eyes currently reading page*) there are another two rounds following! :-)

So, you know, you can still think about it hehe.

And yes, I would suggest not putting that project off! If you have the time and the motivation to do it, take full advantage!! Only way to get these things done properly haha.

V_Nerdbooks | 5079 comments Woah that all looks daunting 😱

I think Chaser would be best for me, I'm not quick enough for the others and the buddy reads and BOM's are like fantasy books and things i couldn't even read with a gun to my head lol

message 588: by Annalisa (new)

Annalisa | 1573 comments I'm sure if you suggested other buddy read books others would be interested. I've been hoping someone would suggest some Romance because I'm reading way to much fantasy.

message 589: by Annalisa (new)

Annalisa | 1573 comments Question about Seeker: what if the book is one you have read recently? Also, I don't reread books...so many new ones I'd rather experience. Well there is one rather embarrassing exception to that rule, but I'm pretty much guaranteed that isn't going to be the book.

message 590: by V_Nerdbooks (new)

message 591: by Annalisa (new)

Annalisa | 1573 comments What is your current favorite?

I've been enjoying Colleen Hoover a lot this year. I normally read more of the historical romance so it is a nice change to read contemporary.

You've made me curious about the exception... You've got to spill the beans now!! ;-)

As for the seeker - that question was put to the mods, and unless I've missed a clearer response somewhere, they are considering what to do about the 6 months rule.

I'm pretty sure we'll get answers to all those questions (and more) once the mods are ready to throw us into the common rooms and for Quidditch to start.

I wanted to read a book with the MC with my first name, so I went out and found one. Young adult, pirate romance.

Both awesome authors. Julie Garwood is good for old school historical romance.
