Strangers in Death (In Death, #26) by J.D. Robb

Argh, at first I thought, maybe not enough blue in the tint, but upon closer inspection, it does look kind of like a bright turquoise.

Oh, oh, Stacie!

Do we have an indigo cover there?? :-)

The Wife Between Us by Greer Hendricks

I think this one qualifies.

I almost picked it up, but I already had two in my hands. (So fun when the librarian asks if they can help you and I say "I'm after a book with an indigo cover, one with a turquoise colour, and a book that has the word "guide" in the title" -- that last one for my RL book club --..... queue eye brow raise)
;)

To the people reading Ready Player One (Ready Player One, #1) by Ernest Cline , Kathleen & Sunshine.

Are you guys doing it as a buddy read or reading like that?

I might be reading it in June as well so if you want we could set it up as a BR? Maybe someone from a different team wants to join in? That way we can snag a few extra points for the team.

When are you planning on reading it??

I wish I had a library that I could go to with a librarian I could ask weird questions haha. Thats pretty helpful!

kat (wanderfulbooks) (wanderfulbooks) | 2329 comments E, I have internet! Albeit very sloooow, workable though and I can check GR so all is right in the world. Yes to a BR and any date is fine with me. I have it as an audiobook and can listen bit by bit.

message 518: by Annalisa (new)

Annalisa | 1573 comments I saw an email/message or something about reserves being added. Does that mean teams get new members or teams get replacements if needed?

Awesome!

Let's see what Sunshine says.

I'd vote for a date around mid-June just because I need to check where I'm at with all the other BRs and books I'm planning on reading within the next 2-3 weeks.

Ah.... going through my BR start dates.... that should be doable, yes! :-)

I'll go poke the BR request thread and see if someone else from a different team is up for reading it. Fingers crossed!

I'm sad that you didn't like Poison Study :-( I hope it was mainly the fantasy aspect you didn't enjoy...?

message 525: by Annalisa (new)

Annalisa | 1573 comments I might also join the Ready Player One BR. I've been meaning to read it. I'm noire though. Will have to see how all my books look at that point. I'm hoping with the long weekend coming up I can finish most of the books I've started.

We have Maria Helena from Team... I forgot... who is going to join us for the Ready Player One BR, so I requested a revival of the existing thread.

❀Tea❀ (ttea) | 9624 comments Trust me, you want to skip a movie :P

Or be prepared to be disappointed if you expect to see book on screen

message 533: by Annalisa (new)

Annalisa | 1573 comments I've heard that multiple times about the movie not doing a good job representing the book. I normally skip the movie if tree is a book I can read.

message 534: by ❀Tea❀ (new)

❀Tea❀ (ttea) | 9624 comments I was disapointed with movie because I expected it to follow a book at least some.

If you didn't read a book, you might find movie good.

But book is GREAT! Too bad I've (re)read it about month or so ago. I know couple of people in RL who couldn't put it down, reading all through the night until it was finished (I was close as much as I could sneaking reading on work). So you are warned :P

message 535: by Eldarwen (new)

Eldarwen | 13645 comments Mod
Good to know, Tea!
I've been told in no uncertain words about two months ago that I should just finally sit down and read the damn book ;-) So here I finally am hehe.

message 536: by V_Nerdbooks (new)

V_Nerdbooks | 5079 comments I loved the book, and we watched the movie the other day and it was fab BUT it really doesn't stick to the book at all, it goes off on a weird tangent that i don't remember, but i think if you haven't read the book you'd enjoy it

message 537: by V_Nerdbooks (new)

V_Nerdbooks | 5079 comments yeah E, me and fantasy definitely don't mix, i keep trying and occasionally find one, but thats maybe once a year lol

message 538: by Stacie (new)

Stacie (thesebooksaremyfriends) Fantasy is growing on me. It will never replace romance as my one true love but I've read some amazing fantasy this year for a change.

Natasha,

could you add A Wrinkle in Time (Time Quintet, #1) by Madeleine L'Engle to your TT shelf, please?

Thanks!

message 540: by Eldarwen (new)

Eldarwen | 13645 comments Mod
Hehe, fantasy has always been and probably always will be my go-to genre. I do love my touch of romance though - UF and PNR usually deliver in that respect, so that's cool.

And honestly V, you can't tell me that Valek wasn't a good character ;-)

Which ones, Stacie?

Are we getting reserves? I thought reserves also meant adding a member to teams who need help haha.

Someone won in SoS. We were sort of one shelf call away from being lucky! Cant wait for the next round!

kat (wanderfulbooks) (wanderfulbooks) | 2329 comments Since I got into fantasy, it s been my go to genre. I read chicklit when my dreams are starting to become the fantasy books am reading. I swear, running and flying in your dreams is pretty tiring.

kat (wanderfulbooks) (wanderfulbooks) | 2329 comments If a character goes to a witch and had her look into her future, would that count as a character using a fortuneteller tool? The witch being the 'tool' here

Kathleen wrote: "Are we getting reserves? I thought reserves also meant adding a member to teams who need help haha."

It means exactly that, yes. Usually the teams needing help are the ones where a team member has disappeared for one reason or another.

So no, we aren't going to get any because we don't need any ;-) Our people are all accounted for and happily reading their books :-)

Kathleen wrote: "If a character goes to a witch and had her look into her future, would that count as a character using a fortuneteller tool? The witch being the 'tool' here"

Nah, I think the tools refer to actual tools. Tarot cards, divination ball, that kind of thing. A person cannot really be considered a tool - even if it could work in this case if you're streeeeeeetching it hehe.

READY PLAYER ONE BR THREAD

Here's our rebooted Buddy Read thread for our book.

I started a BR pile on my table at home and tried to put them according to date.

kat (wanderfulbooks) (wanderfulbooks) | 2329 comments Well I thought Id ask because y'know maybe it could be streeeeetched ;)

*sigh* I counted my June BRs last night, I think I overcommitted lol. I have 13, out of which are 7 chunksters. I was glad of the idea Id finally be reading some of the epic fantasies in my shelf (which makes for perfect dust gatherers by the way) I totally forgot Im human and needs sleep too. I have stopped checking out the BR thread.

message 548: by Eldarwen (new)

Eldarwen | 13645 comments Mod
Sleep is overrated!! :-p

Haha, yeah, might be better if you stopped checking. But I'm pretty sure, it won't be terrible if you're a few days late with them, right? I mean, the thread stays open, there's no obligation to actually start on the day or finish within a day or two. And besides, the challenge goes on until the end of July.

Others might be starting to feel the same way as you and one or the other BR might be pushed back a little hehe.

kat (wanderfulbooks) (wanderfulbooks) | 2329 comments It's more of the thought that I have an obligation to pop in the thread and share ny thoughts about what am reading that's giving me the palpitations lol.

This edition has a pretty tail for our magical creature
A Wizard of Earthsea (Earthsea Cycle, #1) by Ursula K. Le Guin

Too bad mine's sort of the most boring edition lol
A Wizard of Earthsea (Earthsea Cycle, #1) by Ursula K. Le Guin

message 550: by Eldarwen (new)

Eldarwen | 13645 comments Mod
Mmhh, true, that would work well for the magical creature, too, in replacement of the phoenix tail we might not be getting haha.

Oh but your edition is nice, too! It doesn't have the lovely eagle, but it's a nice cover nevertheless :-)
