I found a couple of DVDs while working on others and merged them into default before creating a new edition with DVD ISBNs that I NAB-ed.
According to my reading of the policy (and Rivka's explanation in Message #4), only the audiobook versions (not the DVD versions) of these Great Courses titles count as books.And even here, there are apparently further restrictions, that they each must have a valid ISBN or ASIN. I have run across a few, whose ASIN's are wrong (likely a typo), or entirely missing. So I am making it a point to find the valid ASIN's whilst I am looking. According to Emy's post in Message #21, we can then merge all these apocryphal versions into the valid version.

Meanwhile I do just NAB more of the DVDs - it's a bit too annoying as I can merge only a few of them.
And as both ways seem to be ok for GR I'm ok with it too.

As much of a headache this whole Great Courses debacle has caused, some actual good is coming out of it. It is allowing us to actually go through and cleanup a lot of the duplications and errors.As I have been tracking down all these courses (resurrecting them from the purgatory of "Not A Book"), I am running across numerous "versions" of the same items, some with incorrect ISBN/ASIN's, some with none at all. And then a few with with mismatching information (including one that has its format as "Audible Audio", but with an ASIN that is actually the ISBN of the DVD version).
When GoodReads reversed its recent decision to about Great Courses not being books, they were pretty wise about requiring an ISBN or ASIN to be brought back. Although this would be far too restrictive for paper books (which can be much older than ISBN's), all these audio courses should have one (and if they don't, should first be added to Amazon.com, so as to get an ASIN).
Although I have been concentrating on Audible Audio versions first (as these are easiest for me to cross-reference), I would like to know what I should do with these apocryphal listings. Since I don't have Librarian access, I will be posting them here, but essentially want to verify how I should be proceeding.
Those with erroneous/incorrect/invalid ASIN's, I will report, and presumably will be either fixed, or deleted (depending on whether the real version already exists). But how should I treat those items that have no ISBN or ASIN at all? It seems to me there are two choices:
1. See if there is an unused ISBN/ASIN associated one on Amazon, that most closely matches the item on GoodReads, and suggest that the GoodReads entry be modified to include the number.
2. Delete (or merge) all such un-numbered items, and require a new book submission for any version using an ASIN, not already entered into GR.
As I have (literally) hundreds of links I am triaging, knowing what the plan is at your end, will help me prioritize this volume of work.
