Maybe a Malachai ancestor hooked up with a sea goddess or sea demon (or monster) maybe?
I was surprised when I read that too. I was like: oh? He can do this apparently?
I guess he was just down there looking for underwater allies to go up against Azura (since she rules water and all). But still I can't get the image of Adarian basically gathering up is power kinda like Aang when he went in his first Avatar state in Avatar: The Last Airbender and he's just down there all chill.

Yeah I was thinking about that as a theory too! They both are Simeon Mages (still not sure exactly what that means though). Is it ever really explained? It just means that they're wizards right?
Not many people even visit the Goodreads group anymore so I think it's fine to talk without spoiler warnings. Especially since "spoiler" is in the very title of this thread.

(view spoiler)

I guess that's possible too. I don't know what to think about the Arelim. On the one hand, they seem to be trying to end the world swiftly so the future apocalypse headed by Cyprian doesn't happen. On the other hand, they also seem to be allying themselves with Cyprian to mess with Nick. I just don't know what their deal is anymore

Same, they're a very strange breed. I don't remember where I read that the Arelim have their own realm to live in because they're so easily corruptible. Which explains how half of them ended up on Cyprian's side.

It was in Illusion when Kody visited the realm and noticed that they were now divided and Suriyel and Adidiron told her why.

First of all, my apologies for not being on the site very much this week (beyond reading y'all's posts), as I have been extremely busy at work. I had intended to post a lift on the spoiler warning earlier this week, but as I just mentioned, I got caught up with work.
However ... I am requesting that in the future, you DO NOT DECIDE FOR ME, when to lift the tag warning. Please and thank you.
******
That said, I will simply say that I finished the book last week, and enjoyed it tremendously.
Oh ... and yes, you may continue without spoiler tags.
I see that Nick's father has reared his ugly head...

Saame. I need to know what happened, how did they defeat (?) him and sent him back into hidding in human jails.
Also, if Caleb doesn't show up in the next book I'm rioting.

But he's also seizing his chance to kill the gods right now because if he ends it now he won't have to continue with the awful life he's led and he can finally be free.
I mean, he can see the future to a certain degree right? What if he knows that, if he fails to end them now, the gods (specifically, Cam) will set him up so he'll hurt Cherise (which he doesn't want) and have an heir (which he really doesn't want) that will be partially raised by the gods he hates (Aunt Mennie). I mean, Mennie meddled with Fate when she did that and she did it because Adarian had grown powerful enough to be a real threat to the Primals. So maybe he wants to kill the Primals while he can because he knows they can't afford to ignore him anymore and sooner or later, they'll come for him. And if he can see his future, he knows what that entails and possibly wants to spare Cherise the pain.
I think I'm just romanticising his character right now, but it would be really interesting to see some more how much Cherise changed him. Since that's not gonna happen in CON or DH, I'm relying on Deadmen Walking and Adarian's ability to see his own future.

I always thought that him meeting Cherise was a super surprise to him and him having Nick was unexpected. Like when Adarian flashbacks to when he met Cherise and pretended to be a student at her school he didn't seem to know what was gonna happen. Also, he was genuinely surprised to find out that Nick was alive as a toddler when Cherise brought a 2 year-old Nick to meet his father. Adarian's thoughts pointed out that he thought his kid was dead cuz he assumed it would be because he thought that Cherise was human. So he assumed his child wouldn't get very far at all in life since he was half-human.
Plus, maybe Cam and them found a way to block his future from him so as to keep Cherise as a ultimate surprise and not an avoidable factor that Adarian can just not meet if he went to a different city.

Plus, from Mennie's own account of those events, Adarian would not be able to resist the lure of Cherise. That's what made it such a good trap. So just because he knows what can come from hanging around Cherise like he did after he met her, since the future is always in flux and he can't resist her anyway, he might have talked himself into thinking that he could stay near her without hurting her.
Likewise, I'm pretty sure someone messed with fate again to save Nick as a kid. And in CON, Adarian also says he named Nick at birth (his true demon summoning name) and so he had to have know about him. But if "the future is in flux", then Adarian could have reasonably assumed his son would die young..since it was still a possible outcome.

In The DH book Son of No One (Hellchasers, #6; Dark-Hunter, #24, Lords of Avalon #3, Were-Hunter #8) which came out in 2014
they talk about Thorn's Son (Cadegan) and the woman (it actually tells you who they are) that birthed him, in the first book (Deadmen Walking) he says or thinks they are the only 2 he had ever loved. when someone brings them up i think its his dad. Thorn threatens that person to never mention them again. If Sherrilyn Kenyon Gives thorn his own book he'll either be reunited with her or find someone who truly loves him completely faults and all. and she didn't, was horrified by what he truly was.

Yep
Thorn turned back toward Cadegan. “I don’t understand. If they can’t drain your powers, what happened to your mother when she came here? I always assumed she became a midling.”
Cadegan rolled his eyes. “Morgen turned her to stone. She still lives … as a permeant resident in Morgen’s garden of people who pissed her off.”

I guess, there must be a reason why she's been kept as a statue instead of just being killed off.

Hey, isn't it odd that Bathymaas is the "significant other" of Chthonians on the race's profile page?

I think it's just a joke reference to how Styxx is one of the last cthonians and he's married to Bathymaas/Bethany.

Wait! What?? This is in Death Doesn't Bargain? There has been a heated discussion between friends about Thorn and this info changes everything!
Where is it please!

In the very back of Son of No One there is a bonus scene where it plainly describes Brigid as the one that Thorn loved. Reading that as well as what has become of Brigid I wonder how anyone can still believe Karma is in the running as anything but a friend.
Cadegan is 1/4 with Thorn as his father. Knowing now some of the background of the Devereaux clan ET would have to be showing some demonic tendencies by now I would think.

About Will: (view spoiler)[ The ring used against Kalder was a Simeon Mage's ring. Thorn is assuming that they missed one or more when they destroyed the other rings like it, but what if Will had one and that's how Vine is using Will against the crew? Will and Bart are Simeon Mages, right? (hide spoiler)]
