(I learned parts of UK, parts of France, & Ireland are actually part of the Western Hemisphere which I did not realize until tonight while studying maps trying to figure out where Jan is taking us. But I'm lost and hope someone can solve this one.)

This is a hard one. It was multi-functional and is not called a castle so I'm going to say no. But when I google about it the word "castle" is sometimes used in some of the descriptions though not in its name.

Sorry guys!! So to clarify, we've established it's in Europe and in a country that is split between the two hemispheres. It's not in the UK so that leaves only two countries it could be in - France or Spain.

In response to Jillian's question - the country it is in does have provinces but the province it is in is NOT landlocked. So your answer is a no.

And I'm going to give you a big hint. There is an important word in Rosa's above rant above. Its not labeled a castle but it is often called the other word she used.

I think it's in Spain because there's just such a small part of France in the question and eveeything I could find there is Mont St Michel, so I want to make a dangerous guess: is it the Alhambra?
