A group of kids all develop powers- I think its from contact with some silver alien goo or something but I am not sure about this plot point at all. I remember one kid can regrow limbs and at one point has to regrow like, half of his body. ( I think maybe both halves regrew into a whole kid? This seems really dark for middlegrade.) I think one kid produces heat like an electric blanket?

I remember that the front covers of the books all had one section of the picture that was actually shiny silver, according to the main character of the particular book's power.

I don't think it's The Silver Child.

I'm pretty sure they were for a much younger audience. I think all of the shenanigans the characters got up to all happened in their hometown, and I'm pretty sure the covers were much more juvenile looking- almost like goosebumps covers.

The Girl with the Silver Eyes

I don't remember much but a whole bunch of kids have silver eyes because of meds their mom's made and took during pregnancy at the factory they worked at. The kids have special powers because of this. by Scholastic (first published July 1st 1980) since they keep republishing with different covers this might be it.
