Can't post reviews to Amazon US

I live in the US and just noticed my reviews aren't getting posted as well, despite getting a thanks for posting upon hitting the submit icon. Not sure what is going on.
Yes, I have the same problem (living in Germany) Amazon.de works, but Amazon US had this problem for days.
I have had the same issue - I have been on a social media group asking for advice and someone said that the rules now are that reviews are only allowed to people who spend a certain amount of money per year on the site. I live in Australia and have always been able to post to all Amazon sites, but this week both Amazon UK and Amazon US come up with the same error message Alison mentions. I can still post to Amazon Australia. My reviews on Audible also somehow "disappear", though there is no error message, they simply never show up. I have contacted Audible but so far no luck. :(
Unless you get a rejection e-mail, it's usually just a computer glitch at Amazon that is keeping reviews from being posted on the pages. Whatever it is eventually gets resolved and the reviews show up. I've had reviews delayed this week, plus one that is not posting for a book that is yet to be released. The Kindle version has been released, and that is why the review went through, but the hard copy version is still a pre-order, so the review is in limbo somewhere.
the guidelines now say you have to spend 50$ within the last 12 months :( https://www.amazon.com/gp/help/custom... So no reviews on Amazon US for me anymore :(
Yesterday I tried to post a review for a book I actually bought on Amazon and it didn’t post (ironically- I also posted a review for a book I got from the library and it went up right away). So it might be a glitch. I really wish Amazon reviews weren’t so particular about what you can and can’t say. Whenever something doesn’t go up I’m always thinking to myself- did I violate the guidelines? Even though I don’t most of the time the bots always seem to think I am.
I submitted a review last Monday, not approved until Saturday. So much for being able to support the release date. Amazon US has never taken 5 days to approve one of my reviews, so, yes, there must have been a systemic problem — one which I hope they’ve solved.
The requirement to spend a certain amount before you can submit reviews is now country specific. For instance, I spend lots on Amazon UK but nothing on Amazon US as I live in the UK. I can therefore no longer submit reviews on US site because I don't meet the spend requirement. I've had this confirmed by Amazon Communities Team.
I don't think that's fair though, Amazon/Jeff Bezos got my money no matter where I spent it (they don't even pay taxes in Germany!). And then Barnes and Nobles also has problems with the reviews, or is that only me? It only works 1/3 of the time to submit a review...
I agree with Ylva - if I spend on Amazon - ANY Amazon - then I should be able to rate a product that is the same in every country, i.e. a published book, on other Amazon sites as well. Especially since authors have told me that they need at least 100 reviews to make their book more visible, which seems a bit crazy. In the past I have always reviewed books by UK authors on Amazon UK as well. Seems all a bit consumer-unfriendly to me!

Yes! Barnes and Noble is a pain. I have found that switching browsers is the only way to get mine to post there. Yesterday I had to post there using Internet Explorer...
I think the spending requirement may have more to do with fraud than greed. Amazon possibly is trying to keep fraudulent type reviews from being posted by those who create multiple accounts to post such reviews.
An interesting point for discussion. For certain favourite authors I pre-order the books on Amazon (as you do), then if I am lucky enough to get an ARC on NetGalley I cancel my pre-order (because even though I may love the author I don't want to pay for a second copy of a book I already own). Although Amazon UK cancels the order and refunds my money I have recently noticed that it doesn't seem to recognise that on the book page, by which I mean the book still says I purchased the item on X date and when I post my review on release day it marks it as a verified purchase. Obviously that is good for the author (if I liked the book) as my review sits at the top of the reviews.Using the same logic, do you think if I pre-ordered US books it would count towards my 'spend' and allow me to post my reviews?
@Alison You could try that out I guess. But it needs to be a verified credit card I think. I don't own one, so I couldn't try that out.
I wonder if anyone else is having a problem posting a review on Amazon for the book Daughter of Moloka'i
. The book came out on February 19th (yesterday) and I'm never late posting a review. I submitted my review to amazon early yesterday afternoon and it's over 24 hours later and I still haven't gotten the email from Amazon thanking me for my review...and it's not there. In fact, last time I checked there were only 4 reviews...3 of them from Amazon Vine Reviewers. I'm sure a lot of us read that book and reviewed it, so I thought I'd throw it out there to see if any of you tried posting your review to Amazon. Thanks.

The other day Amazon sent me rejection email for a review I had tried to post over a year ago. The book was Fools and Mortals by Bernard Cornwell (somehow someone approved me for an e-arc at the last minute). I posted the review on release day and exactly one year later I got the rejection email that my review didn’t follow the rules.Every other review I’ve ever posted has gone through. Sometimes it does take a few days.
I posted a review this am,still hasn’t gone through. I’ve been posting on publication day,& it’s taken some 4 days to post.
Jennifer wrote: "Yes it took a couple days for my recent reviews to show up..."Well, that's encouraging. I actually got a confirmation email last week for a book I reviewed like six months ago...which is insane!

It just annoys me that I'm sticking to my part of the bargain and I'm getting roadblocks to a timely posting of my review. It makes us look like we're not doing our job!

Like you, my review for Daughter of Moloka'i hasn't been accepted yet and that review was posted through NetGalley so they know it's legitimate.
Do you all include the phrase: “Thank you to Net Galley and the publisher for providing an eARC...”I include it if it was an e ARC in the interest of full disclosure- but that was the only way I could see my review violating the rules. I’ve included it in other reviews too without issue.
I have had this issue also with reviews that were definitely not in violation of rules (even for some books that were Verified Purchase by Amazon) so it’s not even a consistent issue.
Yes, Marilyn and Sarah, I always include the disclosure of where I received the arc. Sometimes I make it the first line of the review, and sometimes the last. I'm not sure if it matters which way...
*TUDOR^QUEEN* wrote: "Yes, Marilyn and Sarah, I always include the disclosure of where I received the arc. Sometimes I make it the first line of the review, and sometimes the last. I'm not sure if it matters which way..." I always include that my book is an ARC from the publisher and NG or EW too. But sometimes I get digital versions of books from Overdrive library (which means they go through Amazon for Kindle) and Amazon posts those reviews also.
Right- Amazon doesn’t specifically state in the rules it has to be a book you purchased from them. It does have a rule that you can’t have received the product as promotion in exchange for a review unless it came from Amazon’s own Vine program.“Book authors and publishers may continue to provide free or discounted copies of their books to readers, as long as the author or publisher does not require a review in exchange or attempt to influence the review.”
So it’s kind of an icky gray area because no- we’re not required to review them, no one is going to follow up and demand that you pay for the book or return it to them, but the review is expected and the reason publishers hand the ARCs out to begin with.
So whenever I’ve had a delayed review I’ve always wondered if it was because of that language: “arc received in exchange for honest review”. But as I’ve stated before- it hasn’t only happened to books that were ARCs from me. Sometimes it’s library reads or books purchased elsewhere.
In other groups I belong to I've heard of reviews being removed and profiles even being banned from reviewing because they were viewed as having a relationship with the author.Sometimes acknowledging receipt of an ARC in the review has been the cause, other times the "relationship" is that the reviewer is following the author on Amazon or Facebook.
Amazon is such a big beast that their figurative right and left hands have no idea what the other is doing.

I’ve been considering posting feedback when I add the amazon review url. If it takes longer than a few days, letting the publisher know that.IDK if that will mean anything to them, but at least they will no why it didn’t show on pub date. I don’t order more than once a month from amazon, but I have product coming,& will see if a verified review moves quicker.
Em_Jay that’s crazy and a little concerning. I understand and respect that Amazon is trying to maintain the integrity of their site and the reviews posted but I think that’s taking it way too far. I can’t tell you how many authors I follow on Twitter (not Facebook but I hardly go on Facebook). I certainly don’t give all those authors glowing five star reviews just because. A handful of them have even liked or retweeted my reviews- do I have to be concerned now Amazon’s going to remove my account under suspicion of knowing them personally (I don’t)?
The one case where I can see it mattering is if the author was independent and they only had a handful of reviews to begin with. But honestly I don’t care if you want to review a friends book or know the author personally - just disclose it. I really wish Amazon would let it go when it comes to books. Authors tend to be a lot more interactive with their fans and feel much more accessible today than they were even 10 years ago.
All that aside- no one single review has ever swayed me into buying a particular book. If these reviews are being used to influence purchasing I usually read at least 3- one five star, one one star, and one three Star. And it’s usually the one and three star reviews that have the most influence for me. Not the glowing review from the person that maybe follows the author on social media.
Like I said- I respect that Amazon is trying to maintain integrity, but it’s also up to the person spending the money to decide how much to trust a review or not.
Just thought I'd update. The review posted on Wed and the two I posted yesterday, all went through last night. Maybe they are reworking the algorithms or something?

In addition, I got two other emails for other products I purchased from amazon that I had reviewed on the same day. They just must be more sluggish over there with processing reviews. :-)
Renee wrote: "Just thought I'd update. The review posted on Wed and the two I posted yesterday, all went through last night. Better late than never! :-)
Last night I was notified that my three recent reviews were posted also. So things seem to have changed but eventually it seems that they still post all my reviews.
Does anyone know what the current waiting time for posting by Amazon is in the UK? Last week, most of my reviews were posted within 24 hours, apart from one which took 3 days!
