Can't post reviews to Amazon US

So no reviews on Amazon US for me anymore :(

I hope they’ve solved.

And then Barnes and Nobles also has problems with the reviews, or is that only me? It only works 1/3 of the time to submit a review...

Yes! Barnes and Noble is a pain. I have found that switching browsers is the only way to get mine to post there. Yesterday I had to post there using Internet Explorer...

Using the same logic, do you think if I pre-ordered US books it would count towards my 'spend' and allow me to post my reviews?

In fact, I reviewed a couple of products I purchased from Amazon yesterday, and those didn't post either!

Every other review I’ve ever posted has gone through. Sometimes it does take a few days.

Well, that's encouraging. I actually got a confirmation email last week for a book I reviewed like six months ago...which is insane!

Wow, what an unusual experience! It just annoys me that I'm sticking to my part of the bargain and I'm getting roadblocks to a timely posting of my review. It makes us look like we're not doing our job!

Thanks, Renee. It makes me feel better to hear that I'm not the only one.

Until just recently, when I post my just reviews for just published books on Amazon, I'd get an email saying that they accepted it, within a few minutes but now it can take up to a week to get such a letter. Like you, my review for Daughter of Moloka'i hasn't been accepted yet and that review was posted through NetGalley so they know it's legitimate.

I include it if it was an e ARC in the interest of full disclosure- but that was the only way I could see my review violating the rules. I’ve included it in other reviews too without issue.
I have had this issue also with reviews that were definitely not in violation of rules (even for some books that were Verified Purchase by Amazon) so it’s not even a consistent issue.

I always include that my book is an ARC from the publisher and NG or EW too. But sometimes I get digital versions of books from Overdrive library (which means they go through Amazon for Kindle) and Amazon posts those reviews also.

“Book authors and publishers may continue to provide free or discounted copies of their books to readers, as long as the author or publisher does not require a review in exchange or attempt to influence the review.”
So it’s kind of an icky gray area because no- we’re not required to review them, no one is going to follow up and demand that you pay for the book or return it to them, but the review is expected and the reason publishers hand the ARCs out to begin with.
So whenever I’ve had a delayed review I’ve always wondered if it was because of that language: “arc received in exchange for honest review”. But as I’ve stated before- it hasn’t only happened to books that were ARCs from me. Sometimes it’s library reads or books purchased elsewhere.

Sometimes acknowledging receipt of an ARC in the review has been the cause, other times the "relationship" is that the reviewer is following the author on Amazon or Facebook.
Amazon is such a big beast that their figurative right and left hands have no idea what the other is doing.

Thanks, Renee. It makes me feel better to hear that I'm n..."
I’ve been considering posting feedback when I add the amazon review url. If it takes longer than a few days, letting the publisher know that.IDK if that will mean anything to them, but at least they will no why it didn’t show on pub date. I don’t order more than once a month from amazon, but I have product coming,& will see if a verified review moves quicker.

I understand and respect that Amazon is trying to maintain the integrity of their site and the reviews posted but I think that’s taking it way too far. I can’t tell you how many authors I follow on Twitter (not Facebook but I hardly go on Facebook). I certainly don’t give all those authors glowing five star reviews just because. A handful of them have even liked or retweeted my reviews- do I have to be concerned now Amazon’s going to remove my account under suspicion of knowing them personally (I don’t)?
The one case where I can see it mattering is if the author was independent and they only had a handful of reviews to begin with. But honestly I don’t care if you want to review a friends book or know the author personally - just disclose it. I really wish Amazon would let it go when it comes to books. Authors tend to be a lot more interactive with their fans and feel much more accessible today than they were even 10 years ago.
All that aside- no one single review has ever swayed me into buying a particular book. If these reviews are being used to influence purchasing I usually read at least 3- one five star, one one star, and one three Star. And it’s usually the one and three star reviews that have the most influence for me. Not the glowing review from the person that maybe follows the author on social media.
Like I said- I respect that Amazon is trying to maintain integrity, but it’s also up to the person spending the money to decide how much to trust a review or not.

I posted my late yesterday and just got the e mail saying it went through :)

Hi, Dorie! Yes, last evening I finally got the confirmation email that my review for this was posted. In addition, I got two other emails for other products I purchased from amazon that I had reviewed on the same day. They just must be more sluggish over there with processing reviews. :-)

Yes, Renee, my review for this book in addition to two other amazon product purchases that I reviewed all got approved last evening...two days late. Better late than never! :-)
