I have such a busy week next week and am foreseeing that I'll fall behind on my BRs unless I get a little head start. I have a free day so I'll be reading this one today :)

First quarter - (view spoiler)["My poor Illyrian baby" Tell me why I'm squealing??

I've literary JUST finished ACOWAR and am already missing Feyre and Rhys so these first chapters featuring them were a real joy.

I'm glad Rhys is provided with his own perspective too and also that this book focuses on some issues not concluded in the original trilogy, such as the sexism in some of the war camps. (hide spoiler)]

Second quarter - (view spoiler)[Mor has my whole heart and witnessing her having to confront her despicable family was painful!

The dinner scene provided a mixture of happiness and sorrow. The group quietly picking on Amren with Rhys stating he would build public toilets for her new fae body was so funny. Elain's questions about her choice of new body ended that conversation rather abruptly. Amren seemed to think she was questioning her as she still wished to somehow return to her human body.

Nesta chose not to join them and that was another aspect that put a dampener on the evening. (hide spoiler)]

Third quarter - (view spoiler)[It has taken just over half of this book before Nesta has appeared, but seems to have haunted so many of the previous interactions.

The weaver's story brought back the horrors of war to the story. They are still being felt by all who lived through it. (hide spoiler)]

Fourth quarter - (view spoiler)[This whole book was Feyre realising that she couldn't save, protect, or fix all those she loved. It made for a really good filler book, before the new series that doesn't follow her perspective, because of that. It allowed for other characters to stand on their own.

Nesta broke my heart! I loved her, as prickly and difficult as she was in the original trilogy, but this book really helped the reader to understand her suffering, and the front that she feels helps her protect the softer aspects of her character from others.

I'm glad she eventually attended the solstice celebrations. Her walk home with Cassian was painful. (hide spoiler)]

I kind of like getting a glimpse into fairly normal life for these characters. You know, when they aren't fighting for their lives or on some quest. It's good to see a normal day.

It's so awful the way that women are treated in the Illyrian camps. I am really glad that Cassian and Rhys are trying to combat it as much as they can.

I can't believe how cold Elain is toward Lucien. My heart hurts for him so much. My fangirl heart is shipping them so hard.

It would be so nice if Feyre decided to start painting again. I kind of think that she needs something like that in her life. Something for herself. (hide spoiler)]

Mor's flashback was awful. I know that Eris has been a villain in this series but I have always thought that it wasn't his true self. I am really hoping that deep down he is a good guy and that he pretends to be otherwise to protect himself, because of his father. I am hoping that Maas will elaborate on Eris in future books.

I like Emerie. And I like what Cassian did for the less fortunate Illyrian families.

Wow, Tamlin has sunk so low. He is miserable and just plain sad. Defeated. Broken. I always have strange feelings when it comes to Tamlin. I know that most people hate Tamlin, but I kind of pity him. I know that he hasn't made some of the best choices in his life, but I also don't think that he is inherently a bad person. Yeah, this is probably a really unpopular opinion. (hide spoiler)]

82% (view spoiler)[God, I just love Lucien. I really hate the way that Elain treats him. I can understand her mixed feelings about the mate thing since she was only just turned fae and prior to that she was in love with someone else, but it also isn't Lucien's fault.

I am really curious about Lucien, Jurian, and Vassa. They are friends, but are they more? Like, do they have a polyamorous relationship or something like that? Lucien is spending most of his time with them. I wonder what that means for him, for him and Elain, and for him and basically everyone else.

The snowball fight between Rhys, Cassian, and Azriel was awesome. I have to say, I love this tradition.

Hmm, what do you think Feyre wished for when she blew out her birthday candles?

What the fuck is Nesta's problem. She is so ungrateful and so unpleasant. She just wants to wallow in her self pity and hatred and denounce any warmth or understanding from anyone. It just irritates me. We all know that she has gone through traumatic things and that her life is utterly changed and foreign now, but her attitude and behavior is just appalling. And the way that she treats Cassian after the war when something real and true was between them is just...ugh! I wonder what Cassian's present had been. And it sucks that he had to throw it into the river because Nesta was a right bitch to him.

Wow, Rhy's mother made all of the dresses that Rhys gave her. That is beautiful and sad.

Feyre's "gift" to Rhys was beautiful. Though, I wonder at why Feyre decided that having a child now was what she wanted. She mentioned the weaver of the Void cloth that had lost her husband. I suppose what the weaver said was a sad and lovely thing. I guess it made Feyre realize that nothing is certain and no one ever really knew how much time they had. So I guess she wanted to make it count.

Overall, I liked this. There wasn't really a plot but I enjoyed seeing my favorite characters hang out and do day-to-day things. There was a little bit of setup for things to come but this was mostly a fluffy read. (hide spoiler)]
