Anyone doing anything exciting for Book Week? - 16th - 22nd August

Just wondering if anyone is doing anything exciting for Book Week. The theme this year is connections and I know we will have a few exciting things going on in our school. We will be having a dress up day, a door decorating competition and this year for the first time will be doing a whole school book exchange.

This years short listed books look interesting (although I must confess I haven't read any of them yet). Just thought it would be interesting to see if there are any other teachers out there who are doing any interesting things this year.

We always have a big assembly for Book Week. Also have several competitions that students can enter leading up to Book Week.

I had an old jig saw puzzle, so I glued over 500 pieces onto a large piece of cardboard. Students will need to guess how many of these 'connecting pieces' there are. We have a drawing competition (A5 size paper). We have drawn a part of a head on one side and a tail on the other. Students will need to create a creature by 'connecting' the two. Always have books and stationery as prizes.

We are dressing up as super heroes this year. Starting to read some of the Book Week books to students.

I bought some of the short listed books to read to my preschoolers. However I missed I'm a Dirty Dinosaur and based on the cover alone I must get it!

My class is decorating our door as Graffiti Moon

As well as making a giant spray can we are going to graffiti some paper and stick it up on the walls with quotes.

My daughters school had a favourite book character parade - she went as Nanny McPhee. There were some good costumes and the kids had fun!
