Just to add a bit of clarification on formats, for those of you not familiar with Smashwords.

My preferred way to provide free e-books is to create a coupon on Smashwords. To redeem it you go to Smashwords and create a (free) account if you don't have one already. You can then download the title in whatever format you want, including Kindle.

As an alternative, I can also send you a PDF format directly.

Renea, the author is using smashwords so he will need to email you a code to download the book, so we would need a regular email address. Plus when you use your kindle email address, I think you need to add the authors email address to your approved email settings on amazon.

Hi Tana, just to send a coupon code I don't need an email address, as long as the member's Goodreads permissions allow me to message them directly, as I did in this case.

In fact I would prefer to avoid posting email addresses in plain sight on discussion forums if at all possible. Since making my email address visible on the sign-up thread I've had a few spam emails trying to sell me review services.

Hi Renea, I got your message that you figured it out.

If anyone else needs to know how Smashwords coupons work, it's very easy. You do need a (free) Smashwords account to make purchases from the site. A coupon is simply a short code (5 or 6 letters and numbers) that I provide to you. When you purchase that title, on the "Pay now" screen there is a space to enter the coupon code. Type it in and the price should then show as zero. Once you've completed the purchase you can download the title in any format you want.
