Steven from Team Hermione Granger here.1. Hermione Granger (duh!) -- While I'm a true blue blooded Ravenclaw, Hermione is my favorite character by a long shot. She works hard, she studies hard, and she's consistently and constantly there for her friends. She also still finds time to fight for causes she believes in - from epic fights against Voldemort to trying to earn rights for House Elves - and lives with passion and gusto.
2. Dobby - Dobby was a brave, free house elf. He was Harry Potter's friend to the bitter end. Even when he didn't yet know him, and his master had ordered him to do otherwise, Dobby pushed the limits of what he could and couldn't do in order to do what he felt was right and protect Harry, eventually making the ultimate sacrifice to save a handful of people.
3. Molly Weasley - only the best mom ever written. She loves fiercely, protects her family and works to keep them all happy and fed and loved... and she STILL finds room in her heart for Harry when he needs a family. Plus her famous line... Not MY daughter, you B****!!!
Shout-outs to the handful of runner ups that ALMOST made it - Snape, Dumbledore, Queenie, Newt Scamander, Neville, Minerva McGonagall and Luna. :)
(Edited to swap out Molly Weasley for McGonagall... how could I forget Molly???)
Team Severus Snape!1. Hagrid. He is so loyal and while he may not be the smartest, he's a great protector and a good friend. Plus hippogriffs.
2. Luna Lovegood. Luna is her own person and no one is going to stop her from being her even though they might try. She's so wonderfully weird.
3. Momma Weasley. Do not cross Momma Weasley. She will cut you. Everyone deserves to be cared for and protected like that. Plus she takes no bs.
Team Ginny Weasley1. Hermione Granger - She has always and will forever be my favorite Harry Potter character. Perhaps part of that is jealousy, for I wish I could be as smart as she is. Haha. I've always loved her ability to be unapologetically herself. She is determined, fierce, intelligent, and an amazing problem solver, not to mention very beautiful. She has a quiet and endearing confidence about her that makes her an amazing heroine for young girls.
2. Dobby - I mean, really, what is there to say?! Dobby is AWESOME! He's funny, brave, and persistent. He's also so adorable. He continually puts his own safety at risk to warn Harry Potter and help save him from a terrible fate. He doesn't beg for freedom or appear to expect anything in return for his good deeds. He simply just loves Harry and wants him to be okay and will do anything within his power to make that happen. What loyalty!
3. Sirius Black - I was DEVASTATED when (view spoiler). I think, as a child, I was so drawn to this character because my father was not around and I very much desired the kind of bond Harry had with Sirius. While I know he wasn't his father, he stepped into that role and loved him unconditionally as if he were his own son. He was brave, courageous, protective, and fierce. He would put his own life on the line, not just for Harry, but for all their friends also. J.K. Rowling did such an amazing job of building up his character and making you fall in love with who he was and his soul. I was so in love with this character for his dedication to Harry and his friends. Above all else, he was going to protect them from harm, no matter what. What more could you ask for in a father or, in Harry's case, a godfather? Gosh, I could go on and on about this character. Even typing this now is putting me in my feels! LOL! <3
Team Bellatrix Lestrange1. Dobby - I love the way he is so loyal to Harry Potter not only in book 2 but also in future books
2. Severus Snape - He is one misunderstood character, I love how we are told his story through the books and gives us a deeper understanding of his behaviour towards Harry.
3. Molly Weasley - She manages to juggle a household with keeping her brood in line, especially as she takes Harry under her wing.
Team Bellatrix LaStrange1. Remus Lupin- he is a werewolf but has the biggest heart. He cares about others and truly wants people to succeed.
Hermione Granger- the smartest of the trio, this girl gets it done. She isn't afraid to put the work in.
3. Molly Wesley- always there for her children but also everyone else. She takes in and cares for whomever needs help. She also is ready to fight when the time comes, just stay away from her daughter.
Team Bellatrix Lestrange1. Neville Longbottom. Because he is my gosh-darn favorite. He is so pivotal to the entire story and I feel like (until the end of the series) he is super underrated! I relate a lot to him.
2. Luna Lovegood. I've always identified with her the most because she's just so odd but I admire that she just does not give a care in the world what others think of her.
3. Ron Weasley. He is my second favorite male character, and he struggles a lot with self-doubt about "not being as good as" his brothers, Harry, etc. — and I just feel like that's a really relatable feeling for a lot of people.
Team Severus SnapeHagrid - I like him because he was different than all the other characters in a good way. Also, he has a dog.
Severus Snape - because Alan Rickman played him. Nothing more needs to be said.
Dobby - because he is a bit of an Eeyore and every story needs a grumpy lovable character.
Tati wrote: "Hermione was a hat stall, you know..."I feel like Hermione, Ron, and Harry were all other houses, put together in Gryffindor because it was where they all needed to be. :)
Team Moaning Myrtle1. Neville Longbottom: He goes through a giant development. He turns from awkward to hero.
2. Seamus Finnigan: I love how he blows everything up.
3. Molly Weasley - A mother of 7 (have I counted right?) but still have plenty of love for Harry. She worries like mad about both her family and Harry but when shit hits the fan she is tough as nails.
Team Minerva McGonagall1. Hagrid...he's a big, fluffy, and lovable character
2. Snape...in my opinion he's a very bad man...written extremely well by the author
3. Serius Black...he's described as ugly but such a dedicated character
The real why: I just listened to the theme music from The Big the Bad and the Ugly...love those Clint Eastwood movies!
Steven wrote: "Tati wrote: "Hermione was a hat stall, you know..."I feel like Hermione, Ron, and Harry were all other houses, put together in Gryffindor because it was where they all needed to be. :)"
So true!!
Team Gilderoy Lockhart1. Severus Snape
Snape is by far my favorite character from HP. He is so interesting throughout the entire series. At first I didn't like him but I felt drawn to him. He was a deeply loving, passionate man who is trying all that he can to save Harry even though it costs him a great deal of pain. I cried at the end, more than I've ever cried about any character. My favorite moment (one of them anyway) (view spoiler)
2. Mrs Weasley
Mrs Weasley is everything that a mother should be. I love that she loves being a mom so much that she just keeps on having kids even though they struggle financially. She isn't concerned with material things but loves her children so fiercely and deeply that they cannot help but be anything other than great kids. My favorite moment is (view spoiler)
3. Hermione Granger
Hermione is a character who overcomes a lot of obstacles throughout this series but she does so very quietly. While the books focus on Harry and his quest to fight and destroy Voldemort, Hermione fights her own battles from the very beginning. She is ridiculed for being smart and for being a 'mudblood'. She never lets this change her. Hermione is who she is to the core and no one or nothing stops her from being that. My favorite Hermione moment is (view spoiler)
Steven wrote: "Tati wrote: "Hermione was a hat stall, you know..."I feel like Hermione, Ron, and Harry were all other houses, put together in Gryffindor because it was where they all needed to be. :)"
I agree! I feel as if Hermione, Ron, and Harry were all little parts of all the houses combined. They needed to be to finish what they had to.
Team Cedric Diggory:Luna Lovegood - She's the Topanga of HP.
Hermione Granger - She's really the best kind of friend you could have.
Neville Longbottom - His quiet strength is very endearing.
Team Pomona Sprout here!1. Neville Longbottom -- I love an underdog! And he just tries sooo hard.
2. Minerva McGonagall -- She's the perfect disciplinarian who also totally has her student's back when needed. Plus she can kick ass.
3. Ron Weasley -- just to make everyone laugh when things got too tense.
Team Sevarus SnapeSo, I've never read the books or seen the movies. I know. That makes me a loser of epic proportions, but I can live with that ;-)
Regardless, the rules don't say you have to have read the books just give a reason why you like the characters... so here goes.
1. Severus Snape - Well, obviously I pick him because that's my team. But I also love actor Alan Rickman, so there's that too.
2. Hermione Granger - I just love the way that name sounds. It's so old fashioned but not stuffy :-) Plus I do know enough about the HP world to know that she is a kick-ass woman in all the ways that matter.
3. Salazar Slytherin - there's a special group of people that have endeared snakes (ew) to my heart. They know who they are. Snakies Forever!
Team Filius Flitwick1. Minerva McGonagall - I love me some Dame Maggie Smith! But besides that & before that, I loved that she had a tough don't-cross-me exterior but underneath she cared for her house, students, and co-workers, and was going to do everything she could to protect them.
2. Mollie Weasley - another strong woman. She was passionate and caring, and very protective of her family at all costs. I'm glad we were able to see her in the battle as it showed she could manage a home & family but also could duel and fight with the rest. I also loved that from the moment she met Harry she took him under her wing, making sure the Weasley boys didn't pester him with questions when he first went to Hogwarts.
3. Severus Snape - I liked the mysteriousness about him. How he was seemed so misunderstood with his dark clothes and moody/snappy dialog. Always unsure what side he was really on, but I always had a feeling there was something inherently good about him though he was troubled so wouldn't let it show too much.
Team Remus Lupin1-Hermione Granger
She became one of my favorites early on. Bookish, a rule follower, a bit of a nerd, and didn't come from privilege, reminding me of me, a bit. Then, from unremarkable beginnings, she quietly saves her friends, the school, and possibly the world again and again. With style.
2-Remus Lupin
Not just because I am on this team. He is handed to him early in life a serious disadvantage, a disability, one that could turn him into a bitter outcast. It doesn't, in part due to the steadfastness of his good friends, but also due to his own nature and generous heart. He in turn becomes a fierce friend to have. Plus, wouldn't it be fun to be a student in his class?
3- Sirius Black
His was the creepiest character introduction, with the best character resolution in all of the books, I think (in Azkaban). I so wanted him to get his life back, his family back, his self-esteem back, and well, we know whether he did or not in later books. But, just the mental image of him flying around on Buckbeak makes me smile.
Team Minerva McGonagall1: Serious Black: I think Gary Oldman is sexy and I loved him as Serious Black. My biggest disappointment in the series is when he dies.
2: Hermione Granger: because who says a smart, nerdy girl can't also be pretty and attract the the hot sports star. Plus I want that bottomless purse!
3: Neville Longbottom: The chubby nerd who grew up to be the hot guy. He was so courageous in the books and movies, standing up to his friends and bad guys even though he was scared witless and considered kind of a dweeb.
Mary: Harry Dresden's Love Slave wrote: "Neville Longbottom: The chubby nerd who grew up to be the hot guy."
Ooooh yes!
I remember my audible "damn!" in the cinema when grown-up Neville popped up on the screen hahaha
I remember my audible "damn!" in the cinema when grown-up Neville popped up on the screen hahaha
Team Bellatrix LestrangeNeville - he's one of those quiet leaders, he's always there with kindness and and lending hand. He is so brave and always thoughtful and fighting for what is right!
Snape - he had to endure so much! Lost love, under the shadow of Voldemort, and working on the side of good without any recognition.
Hermione-I want to be her when I grow up! Her strength, her smarts, her loyalty, her taking a stand...I could go on and on!
Team Pomona SproutLuna - I've never seen someone so comfortable with who they are
Lupin - He has a lot to overcome (view spoiler), but manages to make a difference, not only to the students and Harry (view spoiler) but is willing to fight for what is right.
Molly - the ultimate mother throughout the series
Team Luna Lovegood here!1. Luna Lovegood would definitely be my first pick here. She's one of my absolute favorite Harry Potter characters. I love how quirky she is and also how she is helpful and kind to everyone.
2. Tonks - I love that she can change her appearance at will and how it changes with her mood. She wasn't what I pictured in the movie but I still loved her!
3. Molly Weasley - Man I love her. She is the mom that I'll hopefully one day be. She's so sweet and kind but also strong and willing to fight and stand up for her children.
Team Ginny Weasley1. Hermione Granger: I can really connect with her. She is smart and not afraid to show it. I love that she sticks to her convictions and she is fiercely loyal to her friends. She always has their backs.
2. Moaning Myrtle: I love this strange character. She just makes me smile.
3. Hagrid: He's this huge guy that you would expect to be scary but he is just a big teddy bear.
Team Filius Flitwick1. Hermione Granger - My favorite female character. Little Miss-Know-It-All, nerdy, smart and does everything with passion. Very loyal to her friends and the sweetest girl!
2. Dobby - always makes me smile. Such a fun character! The cutest lovable house elf and so protective of Harry.
3. Severus Snipe - the ultimate mysterious character throughout the series. Misunderstood and judged in so many ways but that made him interesting and because of Alan Rickman .... duh!!
Team Tom RiddleI'm only 1-1/2 books in so my answers are based on the characters up to that point...
1. Mrs. Weasley: The ultimate Mama in my book. I love that she took Harry in when they didn't really have all the resources necessary to do so. As a Mama of 3 sons, I can relate to her and her love for and protection of her children!
2. Hagrid: I mean really, who wouldn't love him? He's such a great friend to Harry and the opposite of what you would think he would be due to his appearance.
3. Hermione: I love that she is so smart and takes her school work so seriously. And she solved the logic puzzle! As a good student myself and as a former middle school teacher, I appreciate her.
Team Ginny Weasley Sirius Black - I’m a sucker for a dark, troubled badass.
Fred and George - They’re just so full of life.
Professor McGonagall - her snarky one liners were always some of my favorites
(And Neville, and Mrs Weasley, and Snape, and, and....)
Team Hermione Granger1. Hermione Granger I think she’s so badass and is an good role model for females due to her strength and fierce ability to stand up for what she believes in. She’s an amazing friend & I’d love ❤️ to have her friendship!
2. Molly Weasley I’m have a mother’s heart and she exemplifies good mothers in many ways. She’s a true mama bear who protects her cubs & she could be considered a children’s advocate the way she stepped up for Harry & essentially gave him a family.
3. Harry because without his character we wouldn’t have the HP series! He’s endured so much, in reality he was an abused child & today CPS would remove him from his aunt & uncle’s home. But he has grown and lived through all the cruel people & bullies & lack of love at such an early age. He thrived anyway!
Team Moaning MyrtleMolly Weasley because she has a huge heart and opens her family to Harry, and is an incredibly powerful witch at the same time, which nobody really expects her to be because she’s so much of a mother hen. She was the unexpected favorite during my HP reread last year - I had never noticed her too much, but she really stood out!
Luna Lovegood because she doesn’t care about the haters and does her own thing.
Minerva McGonagall because she has her priorities in order - she does what she thinks is right, breaking the rules in the moment they need to be broken. Also, she is extremely badass.
Team Filius Flitwick1: Luna Lovegood- the quirky weirdo who doesn't care that she's weird, and doesn't care about other people judging her. And she's so kind to everyone
2: Hermione- a bossy, bookworm. Basically me as a kid
3: Hagrid- he just loves his animals so much! And he's so nice to Harry and the other kids, what's not to love?

Slightly surprised you're the first person to say Harry! For the title character he isn't liked as much as a lot of the others

Team Moaning Myrtle1. Argus Filch because he was so cranky but loved his cat. I also liked that he didn't take sides he just wanted to punish the kids, but not in a creepy Dolores Umbridge way.
2. Dobby - I loved Dobby. He was so kind even though he was terribly mistreated. And he loved his Harry Potter. I cried like a baby when I read his death, which was embarrassing cos my mom and I read them out loud to each other. It started as something we did when I got pregnant in 1999 and we just carried it on to the end.
3. OMG it's so hard to pick just 3! The cruelty. Harry Potter, how could I not choose the boy who started it all. Without Harry there'd be no one else. Besides he's loyal, compassionate and full of faults like all the best literary characters are.
Team Minerva McGonagall1) Dobby- All he wants is to save Harry Potter in Book 2 and he fulfills this wish many times, the last one requires his burial. (Still makes me tear up)
2) Neville- As the other child born at the end of July, he feels the pressure to live up to his parents, unlike Harry who feels he needs to live up to being the Boy Who Lived. Neville is quite good at magic when he gets into classes that are more his speed and this included DADA. He"s the late bloomer I see in my middle child.
3) Harry- I really like Harry. This may seem a cop out but Harry just wants to be a regular wizard, not special, but he has too much of his father in him. Book 5 is where he truly understands he needs his friends, not just to pass classes, but to survive, He may be the Chosen One but he knows he can't get to the end without everyone else. He even leaves Neville the last horcrux.
Team Draco Malfoy1) Molly Weasley. She is a fierce mother, she doesn't stand for nonsense, and she loves completely. She opens her home to everyone and is generous to a fault. What a fantastic character!
2) Minerva McGonagall. Strong, stern but you can tell how much she cares about Hogwarts and people in general. She is so lawful good! I love how she is practical and also doesn't stand for nonsense. See a pattern here?
3) Luna Lovegood. She is completely ok with being who she is. This is so rare. I love her confidence and I also love her relationship with her father. Unique individuals who aren't swayed by the outside world. We need more people who march to their own drummer.
Steven wrote: "Mary: Harry Dresden's Love Slave wrote: "Neville Longbottom: The chubby nerd who grew up to be the hot guy.""
That was the perfect response! And I wholeheartedly agree.
Another from Team Hermione Granger1. Not to sound cliche, but Harry Potter. I loved him as a lead character. He was fun, humble, average in appearance, but brave. He was a good friend but had imperfections that kept him from being obnoxiously perfect. He had a sense of humor and didn't mind bonding with the outcasts like Ron. I also liked the author's touch of the lightning scar.
2. Snape - Despite his bullying antics towards the teens from his twisted bitterness, I loved the character and found his history fascinating. I only wish more could have been known about him and that the ending wasn't so final.
3. Sirius Black - i found him one of the most tragic in the book form. The movies did poor justice to the character's scenes and personality IMO, but in the book I felt a lot more emotion. I loved his bond with Harry and the growth through struggles - he was definitely a man who had to work hard to persevere.
Team Tom Riddle1. Snape - I'm a sucker for any character that seems like the bad guy but is really a complicated good guy.
2. Neville - I think he's got one of the best growth arcs in the series (and can we talk about watching movie Neville grow up? XD)
3. Sirius Black - He plays such a crucial part in Harry's life and I love how he takes a stand against his family's supremacist mentality.
Team Remus LupinHagrid- Just such a wonderful heart! He makes me think of the song "Bless the Beasts and the Children."
Dobby-What a powerful example of humility, patience, and willingness to be kind in spite of the ways others treat you.
Molly Weasley-Devoted, ideal mother! And as a child advocate, personally, she is all about that as she does whatever is necessary for her own children, but then also mothers Harry and others who need mothering. Fierce and gentle...depending on the needs of the moment.
Team Bellatrix Lestrange 1. Rita Skeeter...I know she causes so much trouble, but I just love her name!
2. Sirus Black..I have liked him from the start, a little mii understood, but what a man!
3. Fred and George Weasley. ...i know this is two, but you cant
Pick one without the other. I love how fun these two are, and they sure like to have a great time!
Team Minerva McGonagallHarry - I just love how he was treated so horribly by his Aunt & Uncle and persevered.
Hermoine - Even at her young age, she is so self-confident.
Hagrid - Love the gentle giant and how he protects the students, especially Harry.
Vicky wrote: "3. Sirius Black - He plays such a crucial part in Harry's life and I love how he takes a stand against his family's supremacist mentality. ..."Yes - good point! Another reason he's one of my favs too.

And then more nominations follow haha.
It is surprising though that it took so long for Harry to be mentioned. And at the same time, I don't find it all that surprising. Despite the crappy childhood where I really feel for him, I found him a spoiled and whiny git a lot of the time.

Team Gilderoy LockhartApart from the obvious favourites in Hermoine, Molly Weasley, and Minerva McGonagall (funny how the first three names I thought off were women) as well as hot sexy dudes (eventually on screen) like Neville, Draco (yes, that wasn't the only reason, but don't blame me for ogling at the screen while wiping drool :P); I am going a slightly different route in picking up my three names.
These are my picks purely because of how beautifully they were written, irrespective of their actions or their repercussions:
Sirius Black: The Prisoner of Azkaban is all likelihood my favourite book of the series, and it is because of this man to a large extent. The story arc of Sirius Black is so potently designed, that I actually did felt drawn to him as the narrative progressed. His bond with Harry, his unwavering will of being the guardian-figure for Harry and his friends, was just very appealing. Plus, Harry named his first born after him - enough said!
Severus Snape: Love doesn't always have to be rosy and ripe; it can be raw and rocky; and this man showed me how. The way JK Rowling wrote the character throughout the series is a testament towards her emotive penmanship. The way his story ended, broke my heart.
Lord Voldemort: For any protagonist to be remotely good, the antagonist has to be equally (if not more) bad... and boy, was Voldemort an ass. But, he wasn't bad just for the heck of it, his being cruel had a long backdrop of him growing up parentless; and the fact that he 'decided' to be bad. However obnoxious, I do believe that Harry Potter wouldn't be Harry Potter, save for Voldemort.
Team Tom Riddle !1. Hermione Granger - I just grew with this character. She taught me that it's alright to be bossy, love books and not depend on anyone. She's just a badass.
2. Draco Malfoy - Love me a bad guy with redeeming qualities! I also find it hilarious how whiny he can be (aka My father will hear about this).
3. Sirius Black - Another "bad guy" who does what he thinks is right. He had such a big part in Harrys life and was like a father to him without even thinking twice. (And I'm 100% convinced, had he survived the series, he and Remus would've come out of the closet :P)
I think I'm one of the few people who finds Sirius Black extremely overrated. X) X) X)*hides behind Protega spell*

1. Molly Weasley - The ultimate mama bear. I love Mrs. Weasley. Without any hesitation she takes Harry into her home for summers at a time, sends him gifts at holidays, and protects him in any way she can. The ultimate Mama Weasley moment is (view spoiler)[ when she curses out Bellatrix Lestrange in more ways that one. (hide spoiler)] She has warmth and strength and is utterly bad ass.
2. Luna Lovegood - A flighty weirdo after my own heart. I love that Luna doesn't ever try to be anyone except herself. Kids tease her, take her belongings, call her Loony and she just keeps on being Luna. Her loyalty and kindness are also beyond compare.
3. Dobby - Dobby is the best. He is all heart! Everything Dobby ever does is to help protect and support Harry. He is funny and sweet and always eager and excited. He is one of the brightest spots in this entire series.
