I read this book within the past 2 years and all I can remember is that the heroine was taken by highlander and in a skirmish was injured ... she then required a liquid fire/boiling liquid to be poured on her wound. It was a pivotal part of the interpersonal relationship of the group as then the warriors of the group each had the liquid poured on them as a sign of solidarity to the lady.
