Evelyn Wood | 7 comments I followed the rules https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...
"Each member may create ONE thread in the New Member Check-in Folder (that is this folder right here). Your post must be titled using the following format:
Your Full Name (or pen name): Short description

In your initial post (do not comment below, please make a new topic), please introduce yourself. You may also link to your books, blog, or whatever. This is your thread to talk about you. Mods will monitor this folder and once we've welcomed you, we'll sort you into the correct folder.

Did all this. No welcome and post disappeared. Please help - I see I'm not the first to experience problems in joining . Thanks

Anna Faversham (annafaversham) | 71 comments Interesting profile, Evelyn, and a big, warm welcome from one British writer to another!

The group can be very helpful on things like blurb critiques, so hang on in there.

Evelyn, you posted directly in the threadMember checkin and rules. You need to start a thread in the folder so we can move it to where it belong. Sadly, we cannot move a post that is a reply to another. Repost in this folder as a new thread and not as a reply to the instructions. Hope this helps.

message 4: by Christina (new)

Christina McMullen (cmcmullen) I deleted the comment because you are to start your own topic following the format I spelled out in my initial post. It clearly says not to reply to my post. If you do as instructed, you will have your own thread on which to post anything you'd like.

Evelyn Wood | 7 comments Thanks for the replies G.G & Christina. The instructions at: https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...
Clearly state: Each member may create ONE thread in the New Member Check-in Folder (that is this folder right here).
With respect "Right here" means as it says Right here in the referenced link. If it means Right here somewhere else it would be a good idea to identify where that "Right here" is with a link to the folder concerned.

Thank you

Evelyn - I think the confusion lies in the difference between a folder and a thread. The instructions are a THREAD in the FOLDER you are being asked to post your own THREAD into.

This link should take you to the folder where you can start your thread: https://www.goodreads.com/topic/group...

Evelyn Wood | 7 comments J.D, Thank you!

A point that might help others: It took time for me to find the "new topic" link which is lower case small and pale. Maybe black and bold, even a larger font, would help.

Good point, you might want to ask Goodreads though for that. We are just users like you. Nothing we can do about the website.

On the original thread, Dwayne addresses this in comment #8. The person who asked appears to have left Goodreads, but his info is still there.
