Books Set in New York

I'm looking for books that are set from 2000 onwards in New York. I'd love to read a story about someone who moves to New York and their experience. Or just about modern life in New York.

All the recommendations I have found so far seem to be trashy novels. I don't mind a fun, summer read but not if the writing is terrible.
