Just started! I did not realize this was a dual perspective book so when I got to Chapter 2, I was a little confused. But so far, I'm liking it! I really love Ford and am curious why Grace doesn't like him back. From the first chapter, I got the impression that she did. We'll see what happens though!

(view spoiler)[Ah, Grace's reluctance towards Ford makes sense. She's scared of being abused again. I feel like the representation of her abuse is really accurate for the situation. I think sometime's people don't think what Grace is going through is abuse, but it is. I'm also loving the end of Chapter 5 when Grace and Ford are in the bedroom at the beach house. (hide spoiler)]

(view spoiler)[I feel like along with Grace's abuse, Ford's story is going ot deal very much with immigration and his friend Jorge. The bonfire scene made me so frustrated! I get Grace wanting to have fun and not ruin her and Ford's relationship, but Damien. Really? For two best friends, it seems like both Ford and Grace are hiding a lot from each other. (view spoiler)[Brianna seems like a good girl and all, but something about her just rubs me the wrong way. I feel like she's acting like she doesn't know how to do anything (surf, drive downtown, bowl) to get Ford's attention. I'm glad that we get to see a conversation between Grace's mom and her pertaining to leaving her dad. It shows the thought process of people in abusive relationships. (hide spoiler)]

But omg Grace's mom. I feel bad for her. I knew that when Grace walked into the house that day before dinner at Ford's, something big must have happened with her dad. Again, I like how Grace's story is represented. She tries opening up to Ford about what's going on, but it's almost too hard for her. And she's scared. (hide spoiler)]

Wow, that ending was dramatic, but I'm so glad that Grace was strong enough to do what was going to make her happy.
