I finished yesterday and absolutely adored Malibu Rising. It follows the family of Mick Riva who was one of Evelyn's husbands. I know it's had some mixed reviews but I gave it 5 stars! The prologue gave me chills, the characters are beautifully written (they are all very relatable and their development is amazing!!!), and I love books that keep family at the center. 11/10 for me!

I think Reese's pick of the month was The Dictionary of Lost Words!

message 4906: by Elaine (new)

Elaine Tena | 1 comments The Ninth Rain by Jen Williams. Epic fantasy that’s approachable and not complicated.

message 4907: by Keli (new)

Keli (motroth421) Finished "The Kind Worth Killing" by Peter Swanson. It was great. Plenty of twists and a very satisfying ending. Currently reading "Her Last Breath" by Dan Padavona. It is not so great. It's ok enough but just that. Ok enough. Very cookie cutter, garden variety, generic suspense novel.

Joan | 51 comments Cicilie wrote: "Just started The Midnight Libary" I went into that book with high expectations and was very disappointed. I found the book preachy and pretentious. When I read the preview that it was about different realities I was expecting more along the lines of Stephen King's alternate universes and not someone on the brink of life and death thinking about other choices they could have made. it just was not my cup of tea. I just don't see what those who rave about it see in this book.

Amanda | 11 comments I am reading:
Pleasures of the damned by Charles Bukowski,
Brothers Karamazov by Fyodor Dostoevsky
The godfather by Mario Puzo
on shortness of life by Seneca
Lolita- sadly, this one has been on my currently reading list the longest. I find myself need a long, long break after reading the persona's mind on blaming a child for manipulating him into pedophilia. He does it so well that anyone would rebuke Lolita for being "The Enchantress", who rapes him. in these instances I find myself needing a moment to get back to my senses and be like "wait a minute. This is a child who is barely, a teenager!!!!" It is definitely one of those that would make you want to gouge your brain out but I'm not tossing it aside, not yet anyway.

If you want to make the recipes exactly can do that or modify and add milk/yogurt/some meat. Plant-Based India Nourishing Recipes Rooted in Tradition by Sheil Shukla , by Sheil Shukla.
