Hillery, you don't have to read one before the other to enjoy the stories however, Lilac Girls introduces the Ferriday family. Caroline is involved with the WWII effort whereas her mother Eliza is involved with during the WWI/Russian Revolution. Both books are fascinating stories about real people doing real things during that time. I understand that Martha Hall Kelly is working on another prequel involving Caroline's grandmother involved in the Civil War. I'm so excited to see that one!

I just finished reading The Bookwoman of Troublesome Creek for our February Bookclub Book. I decided to read the Giver of Stars along with this book since they share the topic of the Book Women of Kentucky.

Without giving too much away, both books are great reads. They each have a different perspective and uncover a multitude of issues.

The Book Woman of Troublesome Creek is a very educational read. The author is from Kentucky and provides keen insight into life in rural Kentucky.

The Giver of Stars revolves around a British woman. The author provides a unique perspective of an "outsider" to Kentucky.

Please read both of these books as the topic of the Book Women of Kentucky is a great treasure in our history and will warm your heart.

I just finished listening to Uncanny Valley on Audible. Girls Night In picked this as their February Book Club Book so I decided to listen to this book as it is read by the author.

This is an inside story of how the Silicon Valley treats women. It is hard to take in some parts but is definitely a wake up call for women to aspire to a higher level of equality in the work place.

One key lesson is for all of us to know and to market our true worth to the company.

I just finished this book and I can say that I definitely want to read it again! I love it so much, and it is definitely relatable that you found yourself looking up songs that didn't actually exist - I did the very same thing!
