YA Boy sends thoughts to girl who can draw them

I can't remember a ton about this book but I remember reading it when I was a kid about a boy who could send his thoughts to a girl who would then draw it. They'd be in class together or far away from each other and he'd send her what he was looking at and she'd draw it, then he started to send her random things like a pink elephant with polka dots. This is all I remember!

This one is sort of similar but in reverse; a girl who has visions sends them to a boy who draws them for her.

I second The Juniper Game. But yes, it was the girl who could send images to the boy, who then drew them.
