Ballard lists her Grandmother’s address as her permanent one but doesn’t live there, nor does she seem to live anywhere else. Is she homeless?

It does sound like she is choosing to be homeless. She seems like a nomad who just wanders at will. She sees her dog on a part-time basis. Maybe she's saving up for something in particular, but the story really didn't tell us much.

I’m not sure when it dawned on me that there was no apartment. She’s definitely homeless. Being on the late show makes that easier as she sleeps on the beach. How utterly strange.
