Every time I read it I feel the same way... I re-read Final Empire after reading Eleventh Metal in December... I continued with Well of Ascension this time...

There are a lot of comments online that talk about how this (view spoiler)[peels back the curtain on hos Hoid is a much greyer character than we've been led to believe from his much smaller scenes in other books, and generally jovial "witty" scenes in Stormlight Archives...

And I kinda agreed more this time round... rather than just being "Oooo, more Hoid" (hide spoiler)]

I wasn't aware of who Hoid was during my first read. I agree with you Iain, this paints him as a darker character that I first thought. Hoid's behavior towards Kelsier reminds of what he told Dalinar in Word of Radiance:

If I have to watch this world crumble and burn to get what I need, I will do so. With tears, yes, but I would let it happen.

His ultimate goal is still a mystery... I'm so curious!

The common theory is (view spoiler)[that he's planning to undo the Shattering... the event that broke Adonalsium into the 16 Shards we know (mostly) around the Cosmere...

This Shattering is an event we'll learn about/witness in the Dragonsteel series eventually... a series set 12,000 years before the Prelude to Way of Kings... a series that needs to be written before the Mistborn Era 4 trilogy (the sci-fi one that will star Hoid and Kelsier among other mostly new faces from around the Cosmere)

I spent an unhealthy amount of time on Coppermind wiki after I started reading the Stormlight books last fall and wanted to start piecing everything together... still tons more I could learn, but I have an intermediate knowledge of what's going on...

there's just so much info hidden in signings and book tour Q&As that I don't have time to sift through and find transcripts for...

I really like all of the connections, but I like to read for fun and happen upon them (or have them come up in these discussions) rather than try to do all of the digging and piecing them together. If I get them, I get them. If I don't, that's ok too.

Well, I fell way behind due to work and life recently, so I've just read Silence's story. And I felt about like I did the first time--it was good, but nothing that really stood out to me.

Just finished Sixth of the Dusk. This is one of the only ones (maybe the only one) that I hadn't read before now and I really enjoyed it. Maybe my favorite of Sanderson's short work.

I really enjoyed the characters and the world. I hope we get more of this in the future. Even if it doesn't follow the same characters, just the same setting would be nice.

We're probably going to have to wait a long time to get much more of a continuation of the actual story in Sixth of Dusk, since it's the farthest into the future of the timeline... (view spoiler)[ The first chapter somehow felt strange to me, a little too funny and fluffy, you know what I mean? Maybe it's just not what I expected... I do understand that it is written that way to show Lift's character and her personality, but for me it was a little too much, so that funny became ridiculous at some parts.
Still there were parts that made me chuckle, like this:
Come to think of it, she’d never seen him act the least bit interested in consuming someone’s soul. Maybe he was a vegetarian? or the fact that Lift want to go to the city because of pancakes :)

This is very much a story about Lift accepting (a little bit) that she's aging... so it gets a bit more serious as it goes along...

I prefer her in Oathbringer, because we finally get to see her through other people's eyes, and losing some of the internal monologue removes some of her grating attributes...

I really like to see characters through other people's eyes and I can't wait for her to meet the others!

Yesterday I spend nearly all of my reading time reading the words of radiance summary at Coppermind 😅 It felt like a whole book itself! But I forget a lot of details, also some about Lift, so I guess it was necessary to fully enjoy Edgedancer and Oathbringer next month.

Right now I'm at the beginning of Chapter 8 (still Edgedancer, of course ;)) (view spoiler)[ I like that Wyndle is really different from Lift's character. It's the same with Syl and I guess also with Seth's new spren. Still I like Pattern and Syl way better, he's a bit boring with all his talk about gardening chairs...

Also Wyndle reminds me a little of the german word "Windel" witch means diaper, that's not exactly helpful 😂

Lift's plan to locate Darkness was really clever, I'm looking forward how she plan to continue! (hide spoiler)]
