Where, two centuries ago, three sisters were sentenced to death for witchery. Stones were tied to their ankles and they were drowned in the deep waters surrounding the town.

Now, for a brief time each summer, the sisters return, stealing the bodies of three weak-hearted girls so that they may seek their revenge, luring boys into the harbor and pulling them under.

Like many locals, seventeen-year-old Penny Talbot has accepted the fate of the town. But this year, on the eve of the sisters’ return, a boy named Bo Carter arrives; unaware of the danger he has just stumbled into.

Mistrust and lies spread quickly through the salty, rain-soaked streets. The townspeople turn against one another. Penny and Bo suspect each other of hiding secrets. And death comes swiftly to those who cannot resist the call of the sisters.

But only Penny sees what others cannot. And she will be forced to choose: save Bo, or save herself.

Finished the book. Rated 4/5. Not sure how I felt about the ending but, overall not too shabby.

I read chapters 1-4 so far, and I'm pretty intrigued! Only thing that annoys me so far is sometimes, when the author is describing a place or the town more, she seems to go on a tangent on a specific detail even if its unecessary

Though, to be honest, the fact that Hazel killed SO MANY before realizing her mistake is super weird, since that doesn't line up with past Hazel or present Hazel, and I just cannot imagine the same spirit that fell in love/cared so much about what the town thought would do this. Chapter 12 - I’m liking it so far. The story is interesting and easy to read. (view spoiler)[I think Penny is the third Swan sister Hazel and that’s why she hasn’t seen her before. That’s probably why she was able to stop the boy from drowning with a kiss. Also, her father must have known and tried to stop it and ended up disappearing because of it… What did Penny do, I wonder? Up to The Warning/Ch. 6 (view spoiler)[ I'm really enjoying the writing and the atmosphere Ernshaw has created. It feels like I'm in the small town with the creepy witch sisters. I like Penny and her "coffee" brown hair, a good color XD. I'm interested in Bo, why is he really in Sparrpw and what made him come. I can't wait for Penny to unravel the sisters' mystery. Like shit, does this mean he's next? Gigi is Aurora and they have her tied up. Clearly Marguerite won't save her but what about Hazel> Where is she, who is she? At least Hazel was able to stop the cycle of drowning. It's super creepy that their bodies floated to the surface like that. Also I'm not sure how I feel about Penny and Bo's relationship.
