She bit her lip, still felling a little bad about it. Most of it was just the shame of not having much of an appetite at all anymore.

'You can have it later,' he smiled at her. 'Or you can take it when you go.'

She smiled just slightly and nodded. She wasn't sure how much later would change things and make her want to eat again, but she wouldn't say that.

Dev packed it up for her, then did the same with his- after taking two and a half bites more.
'Did you want to stay a bit? Maybe give me some decor ideas?'

'I would love to help you get ideas, if you'd like,' she signed and gave a smile. She didn't feel like going home yet, and she did like to help...even if she maybe wasn't the best at designing the innards of a house.

He smiled at her and waved her over to the couch. Rex bounded after him attentively.

Hannah followed him over to the couch and once she was seated was when Cassie went over and climbed up into her lap.

She thought about it carefully, remembering the gift she wanted to give him. Was it selfish to help him design a room around that one item? Perhaps..... 'Well, is there any color you've always wished your room could be?'

"As long as it's not dirt," he said. "I've spent enough time sleeping in the ground," he said, picking up Rex.

She cringed a little at that statement. She didn't like how he phrased it, though she understood how he felt. 'You had no ideas when you were younger?'

He should his head then paused. 'I liked the way my dad's room looked. Stone walls and big red tapestries.'

She thought for a second. 'The stone walls might be a little hard. But maybe we could use wallpaper.'

'I thought I was picking a color,' he teased. 'Though so fart I've given you no dirt and yes stone. And the color red.'

She frowned just slightly at herself for having forgotten. 'So then a darker gray, like stone is? Because I don't think they make colors so bluntly named.'

Dev thought about it. 'Stone Grey sounds reasonable.'

'Then that's what we'll look for,' Hannah signed. 'We'll have to go shopping for this sometime. Maybe after the puppies are more settled.

He smiled at her. 'Sure. Do you have to go soon?' He asked, looking out at the darkening light.

'I don't have any reason to go,' she signed. 'It's not that late yet, unless you would like me to go.'

'I don't want you to go at all. But you left Lupe behind,' he said. 'It wouldn't be fair to keep you.'

'Right. And if it weren't for his current condition, it wouldn't be that bad to leave him,' she replied and frowned slightly. 'Maybe I should go then.'

'Would you... do you want me to come with you?' he asked her.

'Sure I would,' she replied, not sure to the full extent what he meant. If nothing else, it would be nice to have him walk home with her.

'Should I bring anything?' he asked her, not making any move to get up just yet.

'Are you going to stay?' she inquired. 'I mean, do you want to?' She had liked having him stay over before, especially after she'd had that awful nightmare. And who cared if it had made her brother mad, it wasn't like they'd done anything bad.

'I wouldn't mind. It's lonely here,' he told her.

He enjoyed the way the corners of her mouth turned up gently. It made her want to do something... wild.

Dev got up and packed a small bag before coming back out to her. 'Let's go then.'

Hannah smiled at him and got the leashes on the dogs again so that they could walk without her needing to worry that they would wander off.

'D you think you can navigate it the dark?' he asked her, hinting at the conversation they had on the way here.

She nodded and tapped her nose. If nothing else, she could smell her way back. But really it oughtn't be that hard a trip, only two houses over.

Hannah followed him, having no issue with the dogs walking with her, especially since Rex was following Dev more than anything.

Dev wasn't sure if this counted as their walk because he had something that he wanted to do. With Hannah close by his side and her artwork gift in his hands, he lead the way down the path that met his home.

Hannah had her hands tucked in her pockets on the whole walk there. She was easily prone to being cold....especially now that she had so little weight on her bones. Even if she had been eating again, it wasn't quite enough to have her gain all her weight back. Still, she was glad they would take a walk after this. At least, she hoped he didn't count their 'walk' as just the trip to his cabin which was almost directly next door.

'Would you like to come inside for a moment?' Dev asked as they reached his front door. 'You can help me decide where to put it.'

Hannah nodded. 'Sure I will,' she signed, only taking her hands out of her pockets that long.

He unlocked it and let her go first. 'Nippy, isn't it?' He signed with a grin.

She nodded again with a small laugh, glad once she was inside his cabin that she found surprisingly warm for him not having been in it for a little while at least.

"The pellet stove makes the house stay warm," He told her, pointing to it in the corner of the living room. "I don't have to worry about leaving it."

'That's smart,' she signed, looking over to the stove. 'I just might have to get one of those somehow.'

"Tell White," Dev said. 'Don't you have a fireplace in the guest room? More reason to clean it out.'

Hannah made a face. 'Maybe,' she replied, but didn't care that much to clean out her guest room just yet. 'Where do you think you should hang the painting?'

Dev felt bad for saying anything and turned to take his jacket off for a minute.
'Out here or in my room? Somewhere I can see it all the time.'

'Somewhere out of the sun, so the colors don't bleach,' Hannah signed. She couldn't recall which rooms had the most sun, so she couldn't decide. 'Do you have lots of windows in your room?'
