I think this is a short story. It's about a man who is held captive in the jungle and is forced to read the complete works of Charles Dickens. I think it was also made into a film. What is the title and author of this? Initially, the man is promised his freedom if he will read just one book to his captor. However, he learns that he will be held prisoner and compelled to read aloud to his captor, with no chance of being set free.
