message 120: by Laura (new)

Laura (qace90) | 1 comments Hi, my name is Laura~ I’m 27 and I used to always feel like it was hard/impossible to find good quality sapphic stories, but as I’ve gotten more into reading independently published stuff, as well as finding communities online, I’ve found lots of good stories that I’ve loved and others I can’t wait to get my hands on~ I like fantasy and contemporary especially, as well as manga.

Some favorites include:
🌙 MOON-BRIGHT TIDES by RoAnna Sylver
🐮 THE MASKED MINOTAUR and JUST SOME THINGS by Chace Verity
🎾 IN HER COURT by Tamsen Parker
💜 CURVED HORIZON by Taylor Brooke
💚 THE SEVEN HUSBANDS OF EVELYN HUGO by Taylor Jenkins Reid
👽 CHEERLEADERS FROM PLANET X by Lyssa Chiavari
🌸 OUT ON GOOD BEHAVIOR by Dahlia Adler.

I also have a shelf of other wlw books I’ve read and look forward to finding new books in the future~

message 121: by Verena (new)

Verena (verb1) Hi everyone! I'm Verena, a 21yo university student. I read books across a lot of different genres, and I'm always looking for more books about & by wlw. (Since I'm always interested in other peoples' LGBTQ+/wlw bookshelves, I'll also share mine here, if you are too: [LGBTQ+ books I've read], [LGBTQ+(-ish) books I want to read] (both contain mostly books about wlw))

My favourite sapphic fiction (sapphiction?) is The Long Way to a Small, Angry Planet & The Gilda Stories. I'm looking forward to discovering more sapphic books and having interesting discussions with you all! :)

Funnily enough, we're reading books by both of these authors this month! I love all of these so much [well, I haven't gotten to Treasure yet] - Juliet Takes A Breath doesn't get the hype it deserves!

Sabrina (thebooklovingpanda) | 2 comments Hi everyone, I'm Sabrina :D I realised I was bi about a year and a half ago and I'm also currently writing a book (probs only going to finish when I'm like 60 or something) with a major ship being f/f. I'm looking forward to discover more amazing books with you! Nice to meet you all <3

(not active on this account stop adding me) (vaughnspencers) | 1 comments hey everyone!! i saw this on my feed and i was so excited because i have no one to talk to about sapphic books. i mainly read ya and contemporary but sometimes i like exploring outside of that. (edit:) i identify as bi oops can't believe i forgot that.

my fave sapphic reads are: Far From You, Of Fire and Stars, Dress Codes for Small Towns, The Abyss Surrounds Us, Ice Massacre, Under the Lights, Ivy Aberdeen's Letter to the World, Style and Dating Sarah Cooper.

i'm excited to get to know all of you in the future ♡

message 129: by Alia (new)

Alia (aliarichards) Hi everyone my name is Alia!

I've been out for a couple of years now but only just recently got into reading LGBT books in general so my shelf is still growing. So far I've really enjoyed Ash by Malinda Lo, DC's Bombshells series by Marguerite Bennett, Leah on the Off Beat by Becky Albertalli, the Indecent script by Paula Vogel and my all time favorite Fun Home by Alison Bechdel. I'm also currently reading one of Alison Bechdel's other comics The Essential Dykes to Watch Out For and am loving it.

Other than LGBT, I'm a huge fan of high and urban fantasy.

message 130: by Carly (new)

Carly Joy | 2 comments Hi, my name is Carly, and I'm a socially awkward high schooler who really likes books and theatre. LBGT+ books in general, and sapphic books in particular, are really important to me because my family isn't 100% accepting (they definitely still love me and didn't kick me out or anything but they think homosexuality is a sin and I don't think they'd ever really let me date a girl), so being able to read books with lgbt+ characters makes me feel more accepted and comfortable with who I am.

Anyway, favorite sapphic books:
Girl Made of Stars by Ashley Herring Blake
The Apocalypse of Elena Mendoza by Shuan David Hutchinson
Oomph by Emery Lord (which is technically a short story, part of the anthology Meet Cute, but I really love it so it counts)
The Nowhere Girls by Amy Reed

message 131: by Kay (last edited Jul 05, 2018 04:21PM) (new)

Kay Solo (kaysolo) | 1 comments Hello! My name is Kay and I've recently decided to try to find more communities online with LGBTQ+ media; it's been difficult to find it otherwise, or people to talk about it with! I live in SoCal, I'm currently pursuing my MA in communications, and work as an editor and consultant while doing some photograpy on the side. I'm bi/pan and ace, and it's taken a while coming to terms with that and understanding that that's all okay. Some people can be awful and, like mentioned above, reading this type of work really helps.

Some of my favorite books, though! Regrettably the list is a little short since I'm only just now getting to follow up on so many recommendations, but:

Her Elysium (Flowers and Keyboards #1) by Emmy Engberts
Of Fire and Stars by Audrey Coulthurst
Carmilla by Le Fanu, J. Sheridan (Okay this one is reaching but the YouTube series and movie it spawned were amazing)

...and that's about it. I'm sure there has to be more, but I can't remember them at the moment. But this year I'll be changing that!

message 132: by Kieran (new)

Kieran (leamonleviathan) Hello! I just joined this group, so I thought I ought to introduce myself. My name is Audrey, I'm bisexual, I love cats, reading, and theatre! The main reason I joined is because I want to read more wlw novels.
I pretty much only read YA because most "adult novels" I've tried to read are absolutely horrible. (Looking at you, The Casual Vacancy). I also mostly read LGBT+ novels, although most of the ones I read are mlm, since those are the ones that actually get press. I'm excited to find more books that aren't just mlm romances written by straight women!
My favourite sapphic books so far are Radio Silence by Alice Oseman and Leah on the Offbeat by Becky Abertalli. I currently have to read a bunch of books for my reading bowl club at my high school, but once I finish those, I'll be free to do Buddy reads!

hey Audrey!! we have a bunch of rec lists here if you're looking for more of anything <3 I love Radio Silence and Leah on the Offbeat both so much, omg.

message 134: by [deleted user] (new)

hello everyone! I'm Nathalie, I'm 19 (even though i look 14) and I'm from Italy. I thought I was bi for a while but eventually came to terms with the fact that I'm not attracted to men at all. after more than 3 years. you know, compulsive heterosexuality....

anyways, I picked up reading again this year after not reading or barely reading anything for around....4-5 years?? and I decided to read books in english because I knew it would be easier to find books with lgbtq+ themes that way. also i just wanna read in English idk i like it better

I haven't read that many books, let alone f/f books but my favourite is everything leads to you by nina lacour

most people here mention their jobs or what they study or whatever but i just dropped out of high school a few months ago bc of my mental health so I'm gonna skip that part.

I've compiled a huge list of lgbtq+ books and a separate one for sapphic books and I'm excited to get more recs!! I'm not sure what type of books I like best since I've basically only read YA this year. I like contemporaries though.

It's very nice to meet you all, I hope you have a wonderful day/night!

message 135: by Quinn (last edited Sep 11, 2018 08:56PM) (new)

Quinn (entm00t) Hi I'm Quinn!! I'm 20, a flaming lesbian, and a lover of wlw fiction! I live in Virginia and study film and computer science in college.

I've been working my way through the classics like Rubyfruit Jungle, Valencia, Oranges Are Not the Only Fruit, Tipping the Velvet, etc. but they haven't totally been my jam.

More recent novels I've liked recently are Her Body and Other Parties by Carmen Maria Machado, Juliet Takes a Breath by Gabby Rivera, and Would You Rather by Katie Heaney.

My favorite wlw or generally queer books have been graphic novels like The Wicked + The Divine, Paper Girls, Spinning by Tillie Walden, Lumberjanes, Saga, and more. I especially love the sci-fi/fantasy aspects, so I'm particularly excited to read all the fantasy and YA recs on this page!! I am so thirsty for new books so look out for buddy read requests coming your way :)

message 136: by Emma (new)

Emma | 2 comments Hi! I'm Emma. I work at a library and read mostly YA contemporary. I love romance and queer YA. Good bi representation makes me happy.

Some f/f faves include:
Leah on the Offbeat by Becky Albertalli (I love everything she's written)
Down Among the Sticks and Bones by Seanan McGuire (the Wayward Children series is amazing)
The Nowhere Girls by Amy Reed

My hobbies currently include reading, cooking, and waiting for the release of The Lady's Guide to Petticoats and Piracy.

message 137: by kimberlina (new)

kimberlina (capricorns) hello hello! my name is kim, recently graduated highschool and am on my way to college. since i actually have time to read for myself again, i’ve been practically eating books for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. after a really long time reading mlm books and fics, i realized i’ve never read an actual book with a main wlw couple, so here i am. i’ve already added a ton of the books recommended in this group, and am very much looking forward to read them! :-)

message 138: by Lia (new)

Lia | 1 comments heyo i’m Lia :^) im going to start studying comparative literature in 2 or 3 months even though every single person tells me i’m not going to find a job afterwards but hey! i don’t care! im probably going to end up being your cliche lesbian librarian and i’m pretty happy with that

- solitaire and brahms by sarah dreher (it’s just so... nice)

message 140: by Drakeryn (last edited Jul 27, 2018 07:57AM) (new)

Drakeryn | 3 comments hey all! I'm into weird fiction, fantasy, dystopia, that kind of thing. I'm mostly here because I saw Elise's review of Into the Drowning Deep and read it and now I want to discuss it with people.

I haven't read too many other sapphic books but I gotta rec The Raven and the Reindeer by T. Kingfisher, which features the best meet-cute: traveler accidently happens upon bandit camp in the woods, bandit leader falls in love. Also I love the dynamic of (view spoiler)

message 142: by Lauren (new)

Lauren (lmbrads) | 0 comments HEY GUYS.

I'm so happy I discovered this group??? I've been looking for a great sapphic group forever???

My name's Lauren and I'm from Vancouver, Canada and I'm (obviously) really excited to be here. I love dogs, and food, and whiskey sours, and dancing, and lots of other things but of course those are the most important.

I think my favourite queer reads are Far From You and Of Fire and Stars. Can't wait to discover and read more!

Carly Joy | 2 comments Hey so my parents have banned me from reading queer stuff for the next 6 months so I think in gonna leave the group. Bye <3

message 144: by sarah (new)

sarah Hey y’all, my name is Sarah and I’ve been using GR this year to get back into regularly reading since I’ve kinda fallen off it since graduating high school. I love my dogs, fat babes, good bisexual representation like Díaz on Brooklyn 99, and would die for some good dark psychological thrillers involving queer women.

The most recent queer reads I loved were Bingo Love, Spellbook of the Lost and Found, and Goldie Vance Volume 1.

message 145: by Chloe (new)

Chloe | 1 comments Hey my name is Chloe! I’m so happy I joined this group because I desperately need to read more and especially more books with queer women! I love romantic cliches and cheesy stuff!

The last book I read with queer characters was Shadowshaper! I loved it!

hannah ✧/ᐠ-ꞈ-ᐟ\ (on hiatus) (peanutbutterandbooks) | 1 comments hi everyone! I'm Hannah, and my goal this year is basically to read more sapphic books! I love reading (obvs), design, and history. here are some of my fave reads so far:
