Wow. What a book. It absolutely slayed me to the point where I was sobbing. A wonderfully written exploration of grief in children, and the monochromatic illustrations were a perfect match for the story. I read it in one sitting on my ereader and loved it so much that I have ordered the dead tree copy (thanks Anita for the term!). I think those who generally don't like magical realism *might* be able to get over their dislike here as the story is very strong. It is going to stay with me for a long time. I'm looking forward to my son being old enough to read it.
