I've got it and will start reading probably tomorrow morning. Great introduction, NicoleG.
I had no idea of the real history and love the fact that it's based on a true story (sorry it's a brutal murder though.....)! Also, I think it's interesting the the author is the niece of Julian Fellowes (Downton Abbey). :-)
In Chapter 12, we get a real life tie-in for Dr. Crippen, an American homeopath Dr. that was hanged for the supposed murder of his wife in 1910. I have at least 1 book on my TBR about Dr.Crippen. I think its interesting the Author has written this book about a real-life murder and melded another story around it.
Do you all know of any other books that have done this?

LOL Was watching an old Rathbone Holmes where one of the baddies tried to push Sherlock off a train. And now NicoleG, timing of your above comment makes me think we should buy a Lotto ticket. LOL

Love that bit about author being the niece of Julian F., Nicole. Quality arts' lineage infused in this story.
I just read Stalking Jack the Ripper (a YA book) and it also takes real life events and people and puts a fictional spin on it. I thought the author creatively fingered who the Ripper was!

Here's the gist of the book...
It's 1919, and Louisa Cannon dreams of escaping her life of poverty in London, and most of all her oppressive and dangerous uncle.
Louisa's salvation is a position within the Mitford household at Asthall Manor, in the Oxfordshire countryside. There she will become nurserymaid, chaperone and confidante to the Mitford sisters, especially sixteen-year-old Nancy - an acerbic, bright young woman in love with stories.
But then a nurse - Florence Nightingale Shore, goddaughter of her famous namesake - is killed on a train in broad daylight, and Louisa and Nancy find themselves entangled in the crimes of a murderer who will do anything to hide their secret . . .
