Cassie 'The Thinker Go Go Go Go' Mis. Roben Goodfellow'\Isabelle Lightwood (cassiecrow) | 168 comments The Iron King is a good one.

While it's not Faerie it's still a good one about Trolls is Frostfire

message 4: by Devann (new)

Devann (devannm) | 111 comments The October Daye series by Seanan McGuire (first book Rosemary and Rue) is absolutely amazing and is the standard to which I hold every other book about faeries. It also has the added bonus [to me] of not being YA and not being entirely focused on romance.

But if you're looking for something more along the YA/romance lines: Holly Black's Modern Faerie Tales: Tithe; Valiant; Ironside and The Darkest Part of the Forest are pretty good [although I loathed The Cruel Prince, I know I'm in the minority there], The Creepy Hollow series (first book The Faerie Guardian) is pretty decent as well although I've only read the first three so far, and The Faerie Sworn series (first book The Wild Hunt) was ...really just entirely too romancy for me but I can see how other people would enjoy it more so if you're into tons of romance at the expense of actual plot ...have at it lol.

message 5: by dolly (new)

dolly (cryptided) i really enjoyed the cottingley secret by hazel gaynor, though it's more about the cottingley hoax than actual fairies. it also references a lot of books about fairies that could interest you.

Nyla Panzilius (nylap) | 71 comments The Invisible Library (The Invisible Library, #1) by Genevieve Cogman The Invisible Library
The Masked City (The Invisible Library, #2) by Genevieve Cogman The Masked City
I just finished the second book of The Invisible Library series by Genevieve Cogman. The action moves through different dimensions/worlds, many of which are dominated by the Fae. The Fae are sometimes antagonists, sometimes reluctant conspirators with the main character, Irene, who is a member of the secret Library. It's an interesting mix of literary mystery, science fiction, action, and a little steampunk, with Fae, Dragons, and other magical beings.

I am a faery addict, and this is the best there is. Seriously. Best.

I would also recommend The Bear and the Nightingale. Fantastic.

Kristen Peppercorn (kiwicanread) | 62 comments The Fairy Rebel by Lynne Reid Banks
I'm not big on faeries, but I love a good fairy story. :P

message 10: by Melliott (new)

Melliott (goodreadscommelliott) | 510 comments Although the book isn't *about* faeries, it has that component: The Wee Free Men, by Terry Pratchett.

Also, have you read any urban fantasies by Charles de Lint? In his books, which are set in a city very much like Montreal, the world of faerie invades the urban space, for those who are able to see it. I particularly like Memory and Dream, and Trader. He pulls together the real world, faerie, and Native American characters in an interesting mish-mash that works.

Tasya (giselatasya) | 39 comments I recently made a post listing my favorite books with fae and books on my tbr, along with some recommendations on necromancers https://theliteraryhuntress.wordpress... but I highly recommend The Iron Fey series by Julie Kagawa. It's definitely one of the best faeries series out there!

message 14: by Sarah (new)

Sarah | 6 comments the dresden series, especially book 4 (Summer Knight), book 11, book 12, book 14, and book 15. but faeries are almost always at least in some parts of every book.

also the mercy thompson series has some books relevant to fae - very interesting there!

message 15: by Shroomjak (new)

Shroomjak I really loved Artemis Fowl. It's YA but still really good stuff.

message 25: by Ninetailedkat (new)

Ninetailedkat Darkfever Darkfever (Fever, #1) by Karen Marie Moning If you like paranormal/fantasy romance but with excellent villians, monsters and horror thrown in the Fever series by Karen Marie Moning was great. This is a great twist on the Fae world. Contains some adult scenes. Not your average romance book, so don't be scared off by that description if you aren't a romance person. Has a good story arc, strong characters and an interesting premise.

Another series I have read is the Merry Gentry series by Laurel K Hamilton. More horror/adult themed. This series has received mixed reviews since there is a lot of focus on intrigue of a Fae society, but because it is L.K. Hamilton there is a ton of sex scenes that may not appeal to many.A Kiss of Shadows A Kiss of Shadows (Merry Gentry, #1) by Laurell K. Hamilton

message 31: by m (new)

m (melreadsbooks) An Enchantment of Ravens had such a unique twist to the world of Faeries. I’ve only heard good things about The Cruel Prince.

ACOTAR certainly involves faeries, but the actual lore/cultural aspect of the faeries is either very similar to mortal culture or is fully overshadowed by the romance and action. To me it’s more of a high fantasy series involving faeries and less of a faerie tale (i.e., there’s little to no difference, save for ears, wings, and magic, between the fae and humans).

message 32: by Aniketa (new)

Aniketa | 9 comments The Falconer
Lord of the Fading Lands This series is more high fantasy than PNR/fantasy so imagine Feys and Elves. There is no Faerie but it's worth a reading.

~Bellegirl91~ (bellegirl91) Ditto on Cruel Prince. I actually just finished that a couple of days ago and loved it. the Mortal instruments has a good faerie world too ☺️☺️

message 38: by Ann aka Iftcan (new)

Ann aka Iftcan (iftcan) | 194 comments War for the Oaks is a good one.

Lords and Ladies very comic one by the wonderful Sir Terry Pratchett (As well as the Wee Free Men and others in that sub series of Discworld stories)

Ilona Andrews has a series called On The Edge with fae in it. On the Edge is the first book in the series.

Jennifer Ashley's shifters Unbound series has fae in it.

Gryphon Precinct series has a half fae in it.

Laura Anne Gilman has fae in her Hard Magic series

And for a wonderful description of the perils of Fae held lands, there is The Tough Guide to Fantasyland

Some of these are UF, some are PNR's a few are just fun.

message 39: by Darlee (new)

Darlee Hart | 6 comments "Wings: A Fairy Tale" by E.D. Baker. I have a lot of other favorites, but this one seems to fit the category best.

message 40: by Cendaquenta (last edited May 02, 2018 06:17PM) (new)

Cendaquenta Jonathan Strange & Mr Norrell
The Bear and the Nightingale
The Silmarillion
North Child
Stardust
The Girl Who Circumnavigated Fairyland in a Ship of Her Own Making
The Golem and the Djinni

Much of the King Arthur mythos involves the fae, of course - I'd particularly recommend The Once and Future King and Mary Stewart's Merlin trilogy (starting with The Crystal Cave).

The Good People isn't about faeries but it involves the horrible consequences of a fanatical belief in the fae.

Kirsty Logan and T. Kingfisher are good authors to look into, as well.

Some fae-themed films I recommend include The Secret of Roan Inish and Song of the Sea.

Jess Penhallow | 56 comments There's a particular book that I really want to recommend but the fact that it contains fae is a huge spoiler! It's basically a mystery book with fairytales interspersed where the conclusion of the mystery involves fae. I will put the book under spoiler tags if knowing that wouldn't spoil your enjoyment of the book.

(view spoiler)
