SOLVED. Children's Book from the 70s-Goose on the way to the fair w/ cake in hat box. [s]

This would be a children's book from the 70s. The main character is (I think) a goose who is known for her excellent cakes. She bakes one to take to the fair to sell and has nothing to put it in but a hatbox. On the way she drops the hatbox and when she gets to the fair and opens it up it's all smooshed up. She ends up scooping the cake out like ice-cream and serving it that way. Everyone loves it and that's how she serves her cake from then on. Deliberately dropping the cake in the hatbox.

You're welcome! I noticed reviewer on Mrs. Goose & Her Funny Friends mentions hatbox with a cake, too. So one of them might be wrong, or maybe some stories were included in more than one book (I added the ones on goodreads in series, but they are not all of the Mrs. Goose books).

I don't know. I think it is. But until I can get my hand on a copy (library doesn't have a copy and Amazon has a copy of each for $99-$125...I'm curious, not 'that' curious) I wouldn't know. It sounds like it though.

There are a few Mrs Goose books available to read for free on archive.org - Hello, Mrs Goose!, Goofy Mrs Goose and Just Mrs Goose. Not sure if these contain the hatbox story, but you might recognise the writing style / illustrations / other characters in these and be able to confirm whether it's the right series.

I don't know for sure (haven't gotten an ILL or anything like that) but I'm pretty sure Our Friend Mrs. Goose is it. The timeline and descriptions match. Someday I may come across a copy. Thank you everyone!
