It took me a chapter or two to get fully into the story, but damn I enjoyed it!
Sam is funny as hell, the interactions with the other characters had me face palming so often I think it left a lasting imprint on my head. The way she reasons is just... its like a little child with the power to blow everything (and everyone) apart.
The book is well written, the plot is sound and while I found some teensy mistakes here and there it did nothing to distract me from the story. There was no sex in this book (if that is important to you).
The pacing was excellent, there was no heart stopping action and then time where you desperately tried to catch your breath, but rather like the ebb and flow of the sea... it flowed from one situation over to the next without feeling rushed or being out of place with Sam's antics connecting everything.
As such character development was decent. Sam being the most fleshed out character of course. If you've read the prequel(s) you already know a bit about our imp, her reasoning and how she ticks. But even if you haven't, this book describes this with enough examples :D I do feel however that we don't really get to know the rest of the cast. For example, we know next to nothing about Wyatt which seems a tad weird, let alone Candy or Gregory. However, I only noticed this when writing the review, so while reading you just don't pay attention to it, which is good! I just hope we get to know the other a bit more in the next book.
I cant believe I waited so long to read this book! It was refreshing to read about a demon being.. well... a demon and not some demon being all goodie two shoes. While she doesn't want to rip the world apart like many of her brethren would (I mean.. she has a great life over here, why would she want to do that?) she still lies, beats up people, provokes everyone and loves showing off... so yeah.. she's perfect!

Thnx Sandra!! Have a great sunday :)

Steph Ann, I hope everything settles down for you soon! See you next time!

Born in Fire by K.F. Breene

Read!: 4/6
Rated: ★★★★✩
Review:
Actually, ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️1/3
The thing you have to remember (or learn) when reading a K.F. Breene novel is that it is only a part of the whole. Other reviewers often complain about things missing, no HEA, no Character growth, Sketchy knowledge about various people, and not enough (or incomplete) world building.
The thing I love about her writing style is the way you are thrown into the middle of the pond (or the raging sea, in Ms Breene's case) and left to sink or swim. You start with just barely enough info to stay afloat, and then your knowledge of the environment, the milieu, and the people grows gradually like ripples in that pond.
I think this is a masterful Trio, fast paced, engrossing, with no boggy info dumps, just the eventual reveal of everything you need to know(view spoiler) .
And I'm off to find the next series written in this world .....
I'm writing this after completing the trilogy ... (I was unable to pause and review individually) ... and it is crossposted on all three books.["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>

Just like last round, I read a whole "Breene" series for the week's shelf ...
i'll probably cross post the same review for all three books ...

I read this series a few years ago. I really enjoyed it.

I love to read paranormal romance books but usually do not get into the Demon aspect. However, I love Suzanne Wrights Phoenix and Mercury series and needed a demon book for a challenge. I should have known I would get wrapped up into and not be able to stop at just book one. So I guess it is fair to say that I have found a new author to keep on my to watch list. I also started book two even though I have another book that needs to get read :)

Since I finished my Demons book can I look at the BINGO card and start to read my next form any of those categories on our card?

Think it will be announced later today/tonight (depending on where you're from)
What you CAN do (if you haven't already) is check the rest of the possibilities and make a little list for yourself what book you will read for what category.
All categories with their lists of books you can read for them can be found here: https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...

The snark is strong in this one... I enjoyed it!
Weirdly enough, its only after finishing the book and when writing this review that I noticed things were lacking :(
Character development was decent. We met the players, we got a some info about Reagan and that's pretty much it. Her mother died, but I don't think we found out how, she works in the bounty hunting business but we don't know how she got there, she has no papers but is able to rent a house (while I guess that should be possible in some case when paying cash or so... but still!). We got next to no info about Darius, other that he's an elder vampire with good taste in home decoration. Yeah, so that was lacking.
Reagan is also certifiably crazy, rushing off without thinking things through. Her thoughts and ramblings befit a teenager rather than an adult woman.
The plot and the world building were great, enough descriptions (but none too boring) to keep me immersed in the created world.
Pacing was good, we had a lot of action going on and it didn't feel rushed at all.
There were (as far as I can tell) no errors and there is no sex in this book (though we have a scene with a naked Darius) if that is important to you.
All in all, I really enjoyed reading the book, but once it was finished I kept thinking back to the things it lacked. So while not wholly convinced, book 2 is in my TBR pile... lets hope it brings me around! :)

So, Charlie ... now you can post your choice, and start reading for the "shifters" shelf that Sandra called for this week...
Victoria, I wish I hadn't read the whole thing last week... one of the three would have fit for this week, too... aahhhh, wweellll...
