Christine | 5 comments The main girl had to go into the future to find a millionaire or something. She was chosen because she was the only one who could fit into the jeans or something they had?

(This might be a spoiler but) some random guy said he was the millionaire and she went into his house and he gave her a poisoned drink and she like realized how shady he was and didn't drink it and left through a window.

I remember that right before she left, her mom told her she needed to find the millionaire (maybe billionaire) and said a lot of words like limousine and the girl thought they were weird words.

I probably read it 6-10 years ago and can't remember if it was old or not, and the book may have had the word time in the title, but I'm not sure.

She's going into the future or the past? If the future, how does she get the jeans, and how does her mother know the words for limousine and the other words that the girl thought were weird?

The girl, Jessie, lives on a historical reenactment site, and has been raised to believe it actually is 1840. But it's 1996. Her mother tells her the truth and to get help, and gives her a smiley face t-shirt and jeans left over from the 70's, before the mother joined the site, so that Jessie can blend in (sort of) with the modern world. When she gets out, she sees school buses and wonders if they're limousines.
