I know. *sigh* Especially if you live surrounded with non-readers and then find someone who actually read a book lately.

Dewi (dewi_br) Hi everyone!

My name is Dewi and I'm from the Netherlands, which means English is not my first language. However, I love reading English books. I'm 17 years old and still in school. My favorite book is 'The Help'. There isn't really a genre that I could call my favorite, because I like a lot of different things. Sooo I hope that this group will inspire me and encourage me to read more, exciting books!

Andddd I hope to make some new friends :)

Xx Dewi

Thanks Tea! Ikr, I keep trying to get one of my younger brothers to read but not very many books interest him. And my other brother still won't red a book if it doesn't have pictures in it.

message 1062: by [deleted user] (new)

I've been reading fiction books since I was eight and found the puzzling and intriguing world of the mystery genre. I grew up reading Martha Grimes' and a bunch of thrillers that I find tiring these days but used to bring such suspense in my grade school years.

I'm into fantasy these days. Terry Pratchett, Neil Gaiman, Robin Hobb, Chris Moriarty and the suspenseful novels of Stephen King. My most favorite novel ever is To Kill a Mockingbird, followed closely by Terry Pratchett's Night Watch.

message 1064: by Alysa (new)

Alysa H. | 3840 comments New member here!

Birthday: 5 November 1981
I read a LOT, and have such a big to-read list (and ARC pile) that I'm always looking for additional incentive to bump books to the top of the list. Hence, joining this group for challenges and such.
I read pretty widely, but I've been reading mostly speculative fiction for the past couple of years.
I'm also a library professional IRL. :)

I know I'm a book addict because....
I have a massive number of books that I own but haven't read yet, I'm usually reading at least 3 books at a time (often in different formats, like 1 ebook, 1 print book, and 1 audiobook!) though I'm trying to cut down because I feel like I'm giving myself ADD. As soon as I finish a book I immediately start another one. I'd usually rather read than do anything else -- much to the chagrin of my family -- and I can't wait until my kid is old enough to read, because there are so many books that I want to share!

message 1065: by ❀Tea❀ (new)

❀Tea❀ (ttea) | 9624 comments Welcome to the group Alysa. ☺

I should probably warn you that your big to-read list is going to get even bigger after hanging here with us :)
We have plenty of challenges (I saw you already joined one ☺), so you should find something you like.

As for reading more books at the same time, I never done it before I joined here. Now I have 1 audio, 1 on reader and another one on tablet (because why would I have same books on both readers?! :P) And I totally understand that rather read than do anything else

That's the scariest (and most fun) challenge we have at the moment. You could have started with something simpler like Gladiator Games and then build it up to RPG.

See?! :P

You can backdate your books to the beginning of the year but you can only do quests that are currently active unless you use gift cards or timewalker potions to re-activate old ones.

There's more quests added each month so I don't think you'll be at risk of running out.
